Dr. Hudson provided IV moderate sedation and his surgical skills are excellent! Now waiting for the bone to solidify for the next step but all has gone well.

I was referred there by my orthodontist because he said my wisdom teeth had begun to get impacted and, though I wasn't in any pain yet, it would be good to have them out. From my first interaction with this group, I was extremely impressed. When I called to get more info and schedule my appointment, the desk ladies (I mostly spoke with Christine and also Karen maybe?) were so pleasant and helpful. They talked me through what the procedure was like, what to expect as far as cost, insurance details, and more. They had great attitudes and fabulous customer service. They even squeezed me in with just a week's notice so I could have it done before I went back to school, which I more than appreciated! When I went in this morning for the procedure, I could not have been more comfortable - and that's coming from a total pansy when it comes to doctor visits. The desk lady was once again very pleasant, even at 6:45am. The staff that was helping the doctor were all very nice and explained everything as we went, making me feel very comfortable. They also offered me hot blankets - nice touch! I was very cozy and comfortable. When it came time to get the IV started, the doctor came in and introduced himself to me. He was VERY kind and good at calming me down. I felt immediately comforted with just the way that he spoke to me, answering all of my questions in a gentle and calming voice. I warned the doctor and assistants that I have a tendency to faint with needles. They put me on oxygen and put me in a position to prevent fainting and the doctor talked me through the whole insertion. I was so, so grateful for that - I pretty much always faint when needles are in my body, so I don't think he understands how nice it was to not pass out! After the IV was in, I remember nothing except him saying he was giving me happy juice. I woke up in the recovery room with my mom and boyfriend there in no pain and cuddled up in a blanket. In my drugged state, I didn't even realize they had already done the procedure. They were yet again helpful and comforting in giving my family and I instructions for discharge, removing the IV, etc. I am now at home, happily on pain meds, feeling a little sore and craving solid food but also very, very thankful for a knowledgeable and professional medical team.

Ashton Creek Oral Surgery Suites - Most of my "to-go" bag: syringe, chapstick, extra gauze, and stress ball. I had already used the ice pack.

I wanted all of them out at the same time and IV sedation seemed to be the best method for me. I got a referral slip from my dentist and made the appointment as soon as possible. Lindsey answered the phone and helped me make my appointment. She took most of my information over the phone and asked that I fill out a new patient slip on their website before my visit. Super simple, friendly, and professional. They mailed me a welcome letter with minor instructions before my appointment and called 2 days before to confirm. The office is in an office park that looks like a neighborhood. Parking was very limited but I assume they don't have a ton of appointments at once. Showed up 15 minutes early as instructed to go over my paperwork with Ann and to speak to the surgeon. My appointment was with Dr. Christopher Mastin. He was friendly and polite and answered all of my questions. They did an X-ray and it turns out I didn't need one of my wisdom teeth removed. Instead of trying to pressure me into having it removed, we weighed the pros and cons and in the end it was still 100% my decision. I felt better not being pressured into it. After my consultation it was time for surgery. My husband got to wait in a small lounge with a tv and snacks. I was taken into a small room with a tv playing relaxing scenes and was seated in a recliner. Ann inserted my IV (just a small pinch), gave me an injection, and within 30 seconds I was feeling sleepy. She immediately stood me up and led me into the operating area. Sat down in the dentist chair, felt them apply my monitors, and I was OUT! Woke up what seemed like 5 seconds later and was led into a different small room with a recliner. They sat me down and covered me with a blanket. I wasn't allowed to stay there very long, which would be my one complaint. I felt like I needed at least 5 minutes sitting there, I was super out of it. My husband brought the car around to the side, I was escorted out by a nurse, and we were on our way. Thankfully we had paid after the consultation so didn't have to worry about that afterwards. I was given a 1 time use ice pack, chapstick, a stress ball, extra gauze, 3 prescriptions, and a plastic syringe in a cooler bag on my way out. They were supposed to follow up with me a few days after my procedure but they never did. They lose a star because of that. Also I didn't receive any kind of receipt at the office, but called the next week and requested one. I ended up being overcharged (compared the receipt with the statement from my insurance) so I called and inquired about the charge and they mailed me a check for the difference. I don't think they would have sent it if I hadn't called about it, but whatever. Be sure to get a copy of your receipt at the office the day of for your records. Overall I would still recommend this office - 1 week later and I've had minimal pain! I've hardly had to take any pain meds.
