The first community library in Boca Raton was established by the Woman's Club of Boca Raton in…read more1923. Over the years, the library operated from several locations, including the Army Air Field and Boca Raton City Hall. Today, the Spanish River Library and Community Center is one of two libraries in Boca Raton. This library is a stunning 41,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility designed in the Mediterranean Revival style. The library officially opened on January 26, 2008, following the approval of a $19.8 million bond by Boca Raton taxpayers in 2003 to expand the city's public library system. The building is so beautiful that it even serves as a wedding venue and features a catering kitchen for special events. Beyond its extensive collection of fiction and nonfiction books, the library offers quiet reading and study spaces, meeting rooms, a snack room with vending machines, a children's area, an art gallery, and scenic patio seating. The Friends of the Boca Raton Public Library, a nonprofit volunteer organization founded in 1990, has raised funds for many major library initiatives, including the library's bookmobile, which brings library services to underserved communities; AWE Early Literacy Stations at both the Downtown Boca Raton Public Library and Spanish River Library; and the award-winning StoryWalk trails located in Boca Raton's public parks. Perhaps the library's most distinctive feature is its breathtaking lakeside setting next to the Pondhawk Natural Area. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide beautiful views of Blue Lake, creating a peaceful atmosphere for reading or working. A scenic loop trail circles the lake and connects to Pondhawk's 79 acres of paved and natural-surface trails, where visitors can spot native plants and wildlife. The trail also links to Countess de Hoernle Park and Spanish River Athletic Park, making the library the perfect starting point for a day of nature and learning.

I was between offices and needed a quiet place to work for several weeks. A few people suggested…read morethe library and I decided to take their advice. I love quiet time, so the library was the perfect solution. I haven't been to a library in decades so I was pleasantly surprised at how things have changed. There are several computer stations available to use at no cost. I work on a laptop so I didn't need to use them. I did use their scanner and printer a few times. Copies are just twenty five cents and there is no charge to use the scanner. There are plenty of seating areas scattered throughout the library and the chairs are very comfortable. I appreciated that each desk has it's own desk light. Individual study rooms are available and can be reserved in advance if necessary. A few times that I needed to hop on a call, I lucked out and found an empty room. They also have a conference room that can be reserved. The staff is great, and I found them to be very helpful. They are really nice too. The security guard stationed at the entrance is friendly. There is a monthly calendar that covers the events and classes for all Palm Beach County library locations. Just ask for a copy at the front desk. Plenty of parking right in front of the building.

Our family absolutely loves Barnes & Noble -- this place is easily a 5-star favorite for us!…read more My kids have basically grown up here, and it truly feels like a second home. It's two floors of pure enjoyment. On the first floor, there's a Starbucks, which adds such a cozy touch -- you can grab a coffee, matcha, or tea and just sit down with a book and relax. The store is very -- there's an elevator and escalators, making it easy with kids. The second floor has an amazing kids' section with books and toys. And not just any toys -- they're actually high-quality, unique, and very thoughtfully curated. There are also areas where kids can play, and even a small stage where they host storytime on certain days -- such a magical experience for little ones. Everything is always clean and comfortable. I especially love the carpeted floors -- it makes it so easy to just sit down anywhere, even on the floor, with a book and your coffee and enjoy the moment. The book selection is huge, including lots of activity books, crafts, and educational materials. My kids absolutely love it here -- there's always something new to explore, create, and learn. Restrooms are clean, staff is friendly, and the location is great. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, as well as a Whole Foods Market and other shops. Parking is also very convenient. Overall, this is one of our favorite places to spend time as a family. Highly recommend!

It is in a nice shopping center on Glades Road, across from FAU University. The staff are always helpful. The cafe is very popular and very busy.
