I've eaten at countless middle-eastern restaurants throughout the Chicagoland area, and I can honestly say that Fattoush is by far the best. Whether it be the authenticity of its taste, or simply the quality and standards to which their food is prepared; Fattoush is second to none. I first visited Fattoush sometime mid-January of this year and was blown away. A friend had recommended them to me and needless to say I was far from disappointed. Since then I've dined at Fattoush multiple times and have tried something different each visit. They aren't a "niche" type of restaurant; whether it be chicken, steak or seafood the quality remains the same: excellent. After being consistently impressed Fattoush, I decided to have them cater for my sister's graduation party. The catering crew arrived on time, well-dressed and prepared to serve. The company as a whole went above and beyond to exceed everyone's expectations and even stayed an hour later than expected to accommodate some of our guests that were late. I wish there was an option to accompany my review with photos of the event, because the presentation and decor were beautiful. I would GLADLY recommend this restaurant to anyone whether they be looking for a simple night out on the town, or a caterer for any type of celebration. read more

I live in the area so I've heard about this place a lot. I heard it's been changing management a lot. Today was the first time I actually had lunch there and it was pretty good. The chicken was very tender with just the perfect amount of spices. Their muthwama (garlic sauce) was perfect, best I've had. I had the chicken tawook sandwich and the mixed grill plate. Both were disappointing. The chicken smells like (the chicken tawook plate)seafood for some reason and so do the vegetables on the side. The only thing that was decent was the fries. The mixed grill plate had burnt steak and my friend's plate had uncooked steak. Talk about inconsistent. This place gets two stars because their food is sometimes good. But like I just said sometimes. Their food is inconsistent. Sometimes you get really really good food and other times you don't know what your eating. Plus management there is horrible. I once went in with a couple of friends and just smoked hookah and ordered a pot of tea. The waitress then brings us the check and I give her my card. She comes back and hands me my receipt to sign and I noticed she added her own tip into the charge. Mind you we were only three people with a bill under $60? Who does that and when I went to complain to the manager, he asked me if I wasn't planning on paying a tip? Like really? That's not even the concept. When you take money out of my card that wasn't authorized that's stealing and when a manager spoke to me like that I realized that I was dealing with someone that has no prior experience with customer service or any type of business management. read more

I was recommended to try this place. I had high hopes. As soon as we walked in, the manager convinced us to try their buffet. I thought it would be a good idea to try the buffet to know how they make different items. Very Bad Idea. Do not try the buffet ever. The food was very cold and dull and we were not able to eat it. We had to order from the menu. We tried some sandwiches which could have been better but weren't. The plus point in all of this was our server was very friendly and attentive to us. By far, this was the worst experience in an Arab restaurant that I have ever had. We are were appalled by the service and food at this restaurant. Went on 12/25/12 in the afternoon. The place was busy, but there were spaces available. It took ten minutes for the bus clear the table. We sit down and order. For our children, we ordered a chocolate shake, listed under the kid section as $2.99 each. The shakes came twenty minutes later. They were giant malt shakes. And we were charged $5.99 for them. When asked about the discrepancy, they said they only have the one size and that's a typo. We got the hummus/baba ganoush/ tabouleh appetizer platter. It was ok, except the labaneh had become frothy and warm. My husband got addis soup (lentil soup) which was over seasoned to cover its age. The kids' food came after 30 minutes, but our food took another 20 minutes. Our toddlers were done eating before our food came. We should have cancelled the order, but it came just as we stood up to speak with the hostess (as our waitress had disappeared again). The shawerma meat was incredibly old and gamey, very oily. DISGUSTING. My mouth felt filthy from the few bites I ate. When paying, we were charged $57. My husband asked "Is that for the bad service or the bad food?" On the way home, we had to pull over several times because we were throwing up. So, we actually spent $57 for food poisoning. Awful. read more

Form the moment my family and I sat down everything was horrible. 1-We were not asked what we wanted to drink. 2-They brought us water with no ice. 3-No silver wear. 4-We asked for lemon, we never got it. 5-We got the appetizers half an hour from the moment we ordered the main meal. 6- The food was suppoused to be for six people. This place truly is a scam. Whatever you do, dont give them your credit cards!!! The manager cant be trusted, the waiters cannot be trusted. Always make sure you get a receipt for everything. We went with friends one time while visiting Chicago to try out this place. We were going to pay with a credit card on the table but the rest of the table decided to pay cash so we were going to get a credit charge back ($91), the waiter gave me back my receipt and said everything was taken care of. The next week I had two different charges on my CC ($91 and $77), worse part is that we were now back in Cali so I couldnt go and confront them in person. So we called the manager (Sam) who apologized and said he'll put two credits through. Never got the credits. Called again after a few days, oh yeah he remembered now, hes going to put two credits through again. After another wait, no credits. Called again (its now almost 2 wks later), this time he said he spoke to the waiter who said we were there on two different nights and we didnt pay the bill the first night so we were charged for that table and the other charge was for the table on the second night because he didnt receive any cash even though the table was full of people who all handed him wads of cash. Are you kidding me???? Are we fricken little kids or something?! still no credits, had to get my Bank involved to deal with this situation and will be calling the Police out there to file a complaint since someone working at that place is fraudulently putting charges through on peoples credit cards without their consent. Come on people, you're no longer in the fricken middle east to run a business through lying and scamming your own people! If you're going to open a middle eastern restaurant and encourage people to support you and visit your place, try to run your business with some legitimacy and professionalism! The bad review that Fattoush just received from me here on Yelp (which I will also be posting to FB and other avenues) will do more harm to their business then if they had just credited back my money in a timely manner. read more

I used to love Fattoush. It's an hour away from my home, and I happily made the drive every time. I went there yesterday and ordered my favorite appetizer which is the grape leaves. The grape leaves tasted different than the authentic taste I'm used to. It tasted like the canned grape leaves they sell at the grocery stores. I also got the beef shawarma sandwich which also tasted different, it was missing that special Fattoush taste I craved. I'm not sure what changed, but I hope you guys bring the old flavor back. I have been a business owner for over 25 years and I would never give any customer the APPALLING service I received there! I was visiting with friends and we decided to give them a try , we waited over an hour for Water! and after I had asked to speak to the manager to find out why the service was so slow, I was shocked at the response that I received! I was told in a very ignorant and rude way that if I wasn't happy with the wait, and lack of patron service to LEAVE. This was the Owner of this place speaking to me in this disrespectful manner! I have been in this place couple times before but my recent visit there was the most horrible experience ever. I went there for Iftar buffet and I really regret wasting my time and money there. I called a week before to make a reservation and when I got there they didn't have even a table reserved for me so they brought a tiny small table and placed it by the door and asked me to sit there!! I complained and no one did anything. The place was very crowded and crazy and so many people were fitted in there small space. After half an hour with my contentious complaining they switched my table. So here is where my worst experience started. An old woman which her name was ""Kelly"" was the waitress for this table. She was the worst and most unprofessional and impolite waitress ever. She was giving attitude and treating us like we are eating for free in homeless shelters!!! She was throwing the plates on the table and when we ask her for something she was yelling loud and giving terrible attitude. I couldn't even finish my Iftar and decided to leave because I really couldn't stand this. I cant believe that's how you get treated in when you go out to eat and you pay a lot of money. They charged $21.99 per each person and you don't even have a chance to eat because the place is so crowded and the food finishes so quick therefore you end up only eating salad or just rice. If you want to eat and have fun and be respected then don't go to this place because you will regret every minute and every penny you wasted in there because you will be treated like you are eating for free by rude and ignorant people such as "Kelly"! read more

Lovely service. My mother-in-law loved the Salmon. My father-in-law had the rack of lamb. I had the mix plate and my daughter had chicken. It was all really good. Had good food at one time (like the first 2 weeks the opened...and actually it was great food!!) then the typical Arabic restaurant plague begins and things slowly turn. I've been here over 10 times and every time it's different. But 4 good experiences out of 12 visits just doesn't cut it!! My last visit... Was the nail in the coffin. The rice came out unflavored, with no nuts and that day they served it white and saffron not the noel currey/saffron. The family platter came out with the bread draped over the platter instead of coming with the bread under the rice and meat, the hummus ha no taste like it just came out I the can and had a lemon squeezed on it. The service was good as usual bug the kitchen is a complete mess. Absolutely no consistency what so ever!!! I have recommended this place to many. And unfortunately I just can't do it anymore. I tried Fattoush today with the family. I usually don't get too excited over Mediterranean places as they tend to be disappointing. I have always gone to Bawadi instead. I do have to say I really was impressed with Fattoush. Because it's Ramadan, dinner was served buffet style. I kid you not, every entree looked delicious. I tried different entrees and was really satisfied with each one. This restaurant differs from others, in my opinion, because the food is restaurant quality but had a home cooked feeling to it. The waiters and waitresses were very patient and extremely helpful (despite being super busy). The sitting area is also very appealing to sit in. Would definitely go back and recommend. read more

While the food here is spot on, I have to say that the service is terrible. They have several experienced waiters and waitresses who are attentive. Unfortunately the manager has one person waiting on 5-6 tables at one time while someone else chats on the phone or texts. The other servers (aforementioned) are sub par and can easily botch an order (not fun when its the order of your 4 year old). I was most recently upset because my husband and I went in for dinner and the bill was about 10 dollars higher than it usually it (we have ordered the same thing on many occasions and we know what it comes out to). When we asked for an itemized bill, the hostess seemed confused and then said "It's higher because we already added in the tip." The receipt stated that we were a party of 4 (the restaurant was empty, it was just us 2) and they charged 18% gratuity without telling us beforehand. Had we not asked, we would have given an additional tip, earning the server $17 dollars on a $36 bill! Complete trash. Order out if you can! read more

I can honestly say this is going to be a very bad review. My mother and myself use to go to this restaurant as often as we could, but as life goes, I personally have not been back there for approximately 3 years. Last night me and my wife took her parents there to do a joint mothers and fathers day get together because we have been so busy over the past months when those holidays have landed we were unable to celebrate it on the day of the holidays. I had told my wife's parents about the buffet they serve during Ramadan and how welcoming the staff were when I went last. What I didn't know is that at some point in the last 3 years all the staff including the cooks had been changed because it was under new ownership. I can honestly say this was not improvement, they use to have waiters and waitresses that would work all night to make sure you were taken care of, and now it's some kids who hand out bottled water and if you want anything more outside of that there is an extra charge. The food was good, but it was no where a good as what I remember it was before when my mother and I would visit. My father in-law also said something that made me feel angry at this restaurant, he stated that the food was good, but the way this restaurant was ran was total chaos. There were no tapas like they use to have, they ran out of food very quickly and were not on top of replacing the items in a timely manner, so we had to wait to eat certain foods we wanted to try, and there were no english explanations as to what food was what as there use to be 3 years ago. On top of all of that putting a not so happy face on the evening, we walk out to get our car from the valet and my wife finds out her car has been hit and the management, said nothing to us about it. Thankfully as the worth police department arrived the person who hit her car emerged from the restaurant, very afraid that he was going to get a ticket of some kind. The management interpreted between him and the police officer, but he never came over to us to see what he could do to make it right with us. We received the accident report and honestly were less angry at the individual who hit my wife's car because he did seem like a nice person, but the night was definitely ruined. So we spent about $110.0 for all four people to eat at a restaurant that has changed, not for the better, and me and the misses agreed we sadly will not be returning again. read more

This was my go to place for great middle eastern food but lately their quality has significantly gone down and they have been reducing portions. I ordered my typical mixed grill entree a week ago and instead of coming with a plate of hummus as it did every time I've picked some up in the past, it came with a small sample of hummus. The food was still good but once a place starts overcharging and giving smaller and smaller portions that's my sign not to send repeat business their way. We had Fattoush cater our church's annual fellowship dinner recently and everyone loved the food!! I had been to the restaurant a number of times and thought why not forgo the usual banquet fare and bring something truly different and delicious to this year's dinner. We ordered the hummus and baba ghanoush appetizers and the fattoush salad, along with the chicken tawouk, kufta kabobs, and falafel for the main dishes. The two rices, both red and green, were the side dishes. They were very generous with the amounts of food and everything was hot and fresh and delicious. A friend of mine brought her husband from Iran to the dinner and he couldn't stop praising the food. He said that the baba ghanoush was just like his mother used to make for him when he was young. Everyone was happy and well fed, and I keep hearing compliments every time I see members of the congregation. They just can't stop talking about it! It was a complete success! Thanks to the staff at Fattoush who were very kind and professional with me and reassured me that everything would be taken care of. It was! We had a very good experience with them and I predict that our folks will make the trek up to Worth to explore other Fattoush offerings in the near future. Sorry Fattoush, you had a good thing going, but ruined it this last visit. I came here with my family, and everything was going well for the most part. The food was good, portions large, and well prepared. We were supposed to get salad with our meals, but the server forgot to give it to us. This wasn't a huge deal, as we were satisfied with the portions. At the end, my mom ordered Kenafa for dessert. I had ordered Kenafa on my own before, so I knew what to expect. This time, the Kenafa looked very different. The top, orange layer, was much thinner, and didn't have the normal crunchy appearance. We mentioned this to the server, and she insisted that this is how the store made it, and that it was the only one available. My mom tried it, and said that the taste was different compared to the Kenafa of most restaurants. The server insisted that this was the only option available, and gave us a blank stare. On our way out, we noticed another server carrying two different types of Kenafa to another table, one which had a thin orange/top layer, and another that had the thicker, crunchy layer. At the door, one of the staff members asked how our stay was. My mom mentioned the Kenafa issue to him, and he stated that there are two types of Kenafa, and that the customer should know which one to request (even though this wasn't mentioned to us, nor was it on the menu). My mom then told him that the server said there was only one type available. He responded saying that the thin one is better and that the crunchy one isn't the one she would have liked, even though my mom specifically asked for that one. No apologies, or offers for another Kenafa. At one point he mentioned giving my mom another one for free the NEXT time we came. Well, my parents are an hour away, and I am almost certain that they will forget who they are if they came back. tl;dr, Food was good, Dessert not so much, and service ruined the experience.
