Let me start out by saying that I am not a Yelper but after my experience here, I just had to leave…read morea review.
I WILL NEVER GET PIERCED ANYWHERE ELSE EVER AGAIN!!!
I had read that getting your Daith pierced (one of the nubby little bits of cartilidge inside your ear) helps with migraines, something about a pressure point in that area. I do suffer from migraines and will try anything too relieve them. So I started calling around to shops in Kenosha to find out prices/more info. Unfortunately noone I called could help me out, and a few of them actually seemed annoyed by my questions. I should have known that anybody charging $20 a piercing probably isn't exactly reputable. I've had plenty of piercings in my life and haven't paid less than $50 for any of them. Hell, I used to look like I got into a fight with a tackle box. Finally called Black Pearl (should have called them first) and ended up taking to Shawn (hope I spelled that right). We talked for a good ten minutes and he told me to stop in so he could take a look and see if it could even be done because I guess some peoples are just way too small to do. 15 minutes later I was in the shop, he checked my ear, gave me the green light and I was in his chair. I was extremely nervous as I had read that it's not exactly a painless piercing. He agreed and explained to me it's a very tight area to work in so it is a little bit of a slower process because the target is kinda tucked away unlike something out in the open like say, your belly button, but assured me that I could take it. When I asked how many he had done, he said "I don't know, a couple". I was shocked by this response, but was relieved when he laughed and said he really didn't know because it's hard to keep track of how many of what you've done considering how long he has been doing piercings. When I asked how long and he said 20 years, 12 of those in shops here in Kenosha (2 1/2 years at Black Pearl alone) the butterflies in my stomach disappeared. I knew I was in good hands. After a bit more talking about the piercing and the benefits of it, we started up. When he said it was a slower process than most piercings, I expected it to last more than the 2 minutes it did. Most of that time was actually spent getting the tiny little ball on the tiny little barbell. He talked to me the whole time which really kept me distracted from what was going on inside my ear. He cleaned me up and asked if I knew what to do as far as aftercare went. I told him yes, but he gave me a quick rundown of what he recommends to do, which was way off from what I used to do (I used to use hydrogen peroxide which he said is a big no-no so I'm glad he did). We finished up and I was on my way. And I WILL be back. Definitely. Well worth the $40. If you want your piercings done right, don't be afraid to spend a couple bucks extra. Experience should be what counts. Not price. Forget these sketchy artists in these fly-by-night shops that are becoming as plentiful in Kenosha as the bars. Go to Black Pearl and get it done right the first time.
And btw, it's been a week since I got the piercing. I normally have 2 or 3 migraines a week but have not had one since. Highly recommended if you are a migraine sufferer.
