Spicy Boys has four locations in the Austin area, with probably their most popular at Zilker Brewing. They are a spicy chicken establishment and their spicy chicken comes in different shapes and sizes from bone-in fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, and nuggets. I have only ever ordered their fried chicken sandwich and every time, I have been a fan. I always get their middle option in heat, the Hot Gai, which is sandwiched between the OG and the Tingly Gai. It hits every time. The mayonnaise, the pickles, the perfectly crisp chicken: you can't miss it. As a side, I ALWAYS without fail get their Tater Tots. They are consistently crispy while remaining soft on the inside. Sometimes I will get it seasoned with their Tingly Sichuan, but the heat is sometimes too much. I cannot recommend the tots enough. Spicy Boys is one of those places that is always there for you. They are consistently open and the people making the orders are putting a ton of dedication into making them smack every time. The sandwich alone comes at $9.50 with the tots at $3.50, which seems on par or slightly lower than a typical food truck if my memory serves me right. I recommend giving them a shot whether you are at Spokesman in Pflugerville, St. Elmo Brewing, or Zilker off 6th Street. It's in the upper echelon of food trucks. RIYL: peak chicken sammys

It just seemed like chicken chicken to me. No big deal. But then I had been drinking Zilker Brewery's own beer. If the price of protection from Zilker beer was not being able to taste a chicken sandwich, I was definitely ahead of the game.

Shawn the owner came over to bring it to us personally and check in on us later to ensure we were happy with the food and service! He is so excited for the new location and to share the amazing food with us all! I usually get the lollipop bone-in wings and they are to die for! So easy to eat! This time I did the boneless wings and the cook and flavor was perfect!! If you love tots you need to try these!! Regular, Garlic Parmesan or Ranch on Fire are the flavors you can get. You cannot go wrong with any of the options but if you like spice definitely get the Ranch on Fire! These wings were absolutely delicious, filling, and spicier than expected (and I love a spicy food). My friend and I both got the 5 piece buffalo and woowee! The spice on those guys. So delicious, but I do recommend a normal or garlic fry/tot to go with it. While the dry rub starch sides are delicious, they will have you crying if you mix it with the buffalo wing. The food was ready so fast, the workers were nice and offered extra napkins, and the vibes are so good. Definitely will be eating more lollipops and suffering the spice consequences afterwards!

I chalked it up to being brand new and still trying to work things out. So I wanted to give them a second chance. The wife and I went and we ordered a Iced Tea and a Margarita on the rocks. The Iced Tea was really good and refreshing. The Margarita was pretty good but you couldn't taste the Tequila at all. We ordered the Holy Macaroni and a half order of Fried Pickles for appetizer's. They were both very good. The Holy Macaroni was hot, crunchy on the outside and creamy cheese macaroni on the inside. The Fried Pickles were cooked just right. The breading wast crispy on the outside and the pickles were crisp, juicy and crunchy. I ordered the five wing lemon pepper combo and my wife ordered the lemon pepper chicken strips. As the other part of our combo dishes, we both got Garden Salads. The lettuce, tomatoes, onions and other veggies were fresh, cold and crisp. It was a good salad. My lemon pepper wings were pretty good. The lemon pepper seasoning was very grainy and dry. The wings were good and juicy. My wife's order of the lemon pepper chicken strips were good. The lemon pepper seasoning was perfect. It wasn't as grainy and dry as mine was on the wings. The chicken strips were hot and juicy. And there were a lot of chicken strips...I think like a pound of chicken. Too much to finish. This time around, the food was much better. Still needs a little more improvement. The hostess was friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She made sure our food and drinks were good and kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything. The service this time was 100% better than the first time we were there. The inside of the restaurant is very clean. They have big screen TV's everywhere. Great place to go have a beverage food and cheer on your favorite team. Overall, a much more enjoyable and pleasant experience this time around.

When I…read morewent to go pick up my order, the cashier was graciously enough to inform me that their website is powered through DoorDash so if you order online, all the prices are unfortunately higher than their menu...so unfortunate to hear :( As for the food, I ordered the 3 Piece White Meat Chicken Plate, which came with 2 chicken breasts and 1 wing (they surprisingly give the full wing), and it comes with toast, baked beans, and cole slaw be default. You can exchange the default sides for some other options for a little extra charge. It was wonderful to see how generous the portion sizes were, including the sides! The chicken was perfectly friend and breaded in my opinion while keeping the white meat tender -- it was still like that even after I put the leftovers in the air fryer the next day. The baked beans were very flavorful and the sweetness complimented the savory chicken well. The cheer on top moment was the fact that the chicken was seasoned with a spicy seasoning so there was a bit of a subtle spicy aftertaste in each bite! I'll definitely be back again! :)

Dry chicken is already a rough start, but when the place builds its entire identity around fried…read morechicken, it becomes the whole story. The chicken we had was dry enough that the crust felt like the only source of moisture. Flavor-wise, it never really arrived -- just basic chicken, none of that deep, savory, robust profile you expect from a place that claims world‑famous status. It wasn't offensive, just forgettable, which is almost worse for a fried‑chicken joint. Service was fine -- not warm, not cold, just functional. But being out of sweet tea, a southern staple and practically part of the cultural contract of fried chicken, didn't help the mood. And honestly, even if they'd had it, the chicken wasn't good enough for sweet tea to save the experience. Overall, Gus's felt like a place coasting on reputation rather than execution. Dry chicken, muted flavor, and missing sweet tea make it hard to justify a return visit.

Two words: Jude and Darius!…read more This place rocks because of the leadership and staff of these two. I watched them work together and power thru orders swiftly right before closing to make customers happy and drive business all while also preparing to close. Efficiency and effectiveness masters. I was at a wedding and ended up not eating much as the day passed so I was super hungry late night and seeking something savory. So I looked up all the Wingstops nearby the wedding facility and my hotel. I was within 30 mins of them closing. After calling three locations this one delivered with a smile! The other two were a hot mess and rude! The one near The Allen House in northern Austin said they couldn't do it but they were nicer about it. The one south of this location left me on hold for 10 mins only to tell me no and they were rude. The wings here were great, met my needs and the people were amazing! Promote them, keep them give them bonuses whatever you have to do. Good labor these days is very hard to find! You have a great thing in these two. Darius was beyond great. Take good care of these two!
