Bait and switch! I saw a TikTok featuring this company and, based on the way the video was presented, I genuinely thought it was someone sharing a great food find rather than an advertisement. Unfortunately, after actually ordering from the restaurant, I realized it was marketing at its best, because what I received looked absolutely nothing like what was shown in the TikTok.
None of the food I ordered resembled the food in the advertising or the video. I specifically did not order any meat. I simply wanted to try several of their sides, and at $6 per side, I was completely willing to pay that price if the food was actually good and matched what was being advertised.
Unfortunately, the food was terrible. There was virtually no flavor in anything I ordered, and the overall quality tasted like inexpensive boxed or frozen food rather than food prepared by a restaurant.
The grilled corn was probably the biggest disappointment. The TikTok showed beautiful corn ribs that looked grilled, seasoned, and absolutely delicious. What I received were essentially two frozen corn-on-the-cob pieces that looked and tasted like the frozen corn cobs you can buy in a bag at the grocery store. I honestly could not believe the difference between what was advertised and what ended up in my container.
The macaroni and cheese was just as disappointing. It tasted like boxed Velveeta macaroni and cheese with additional processed cheese thrown on top. There was nothing homemade or special about it.
Then there was the honey cornbread. It was dry, bland cornbread with what tasted like sugar mixed into the batter. It certainly did not have the moist, flavorful, honey-forward taste I expected based on the description.
I understand that food can look slightly different from promotional photos and videos, but this was far beyond a minor difference. What was advertised and what I received were two completely different experiences. The TikTok made the food look fresh, flavorful, creative, and worth seeking out. What I received was bland, disappointing, and, frankly, not worth the $6 per side.
Save your money and your time. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place. This feels like another pop-up operation relying heavily on social media marketing and eye-catching food videos rather than delivering the quality shown in the advertising. If the food I received is representative of what they are serving, I honestly cannot see this place being around for very long. read more
