This is my second time coming here and upon walking in, it gave me the same wonderful vibes of my first visit! Love the earthy, cozy, spacious decor and ambience. There's plenty of seating, and is a great place to work or come with friends. The bathrooms are clean, the bartenders are helpful and the music isn't too loud. They have flagship, seasonal and guest beers. This visit, I tried the hibiscus saison, one of their flagship beers and it taste like a true blue saison with a subtle and lovely hint of hibiscus. They have pretzels but on certain days a food truck is outside. If hungry, there's a pizza place right around the corner and they allow us to bring food in. There's also outdoor seating. Love this place and when we're in town, it's a must-stop-in! read more

Stopped by a few nights ago. The beer was great. Nice and Cold just the way it should be. The staff was nice and the place had a good vibe.

There is no food served that's establishment just great craft beer. The service is excellent. The ambience is wonderful. The people are having a good time and edit. It really has an excellent positive positive vibe. I would highly recommend you go there. You can bring in food from anywhere, and have a very wonderful time. read more

This is a fun place. There are several different kinds of activities that bring people together, even a book club! The space is big and open with high ceilings. Always seems very clean. I don't know a lot about different beers, but the ones I have tried were all tasty. read more

This is a great brewery, I had the honey beer oh man it was fantastic. The staff is so knowledgeable and kind. Great conversation even as they had just opened for the day. It was my first time in Iowa and I highly recommend this place for a cold beer or a great cider. They also have sours for those that's Ike a different finish. read more

What a cool place! Cute industrial brew house. Tons of tables. We picked up dinner with our 2 little babies and brought it with us, since they don't serve food. We sat by the Christmas tree. It was a fun little weekend outing. The root beer was very good! They also have cider. I don't care for beer, but my husband didn't like any of the beer he ordered. Didn't even finish the last drink, which I've never seen him do. Must have been real bad. He said it was watered down and way too bitter/burned tasting. read more

Nicely renovated historic building - just the right mix of modern and old. A dozen brews on tap provides the chance for anyone to find what they enjoy. I get to Mason City every few years and this place makes the trip worth while. Every brew I drink at this place is a solid example of the style. NEIPA, Stout, etc. this brewery will not disappoint. Location: In the heart of Mason City in a neat building. The interior is quite lovely with a large bar and tin ceilings. It's a neat place to meet friends or a larger gathering of people. There is tons of space! Beer: The first time I came here, they had just opened. The beers weren't so great. The second time, the beers were better. I had a New England IPA, which was good. Everyone else agreed that the beers were better, but still not amazing. Staff: Super friendly and enjoyable! There are also free pretzels provided by the brewery from a little station toward the back. read more

They serve beer only. They don't serve food. We just ended up skipping this place and going to the Quarry. Don't want to criss cross between food at one restaurant and beer at another in the cold! Update: came in and tried your beer and it is not anything I would write home about but nice location and decor. I think if you are so worried about word of mouth you might want to ease off on your own rigid behavior cause it's starting to wear a bit and makes coming in uncomfortable. Take extra special care of your customers not just your marketing but that's just my opinion and experience. read more

I visit Mason city every so often as I have extended family here and was so excited to try Fat Hill. They definitely did not disappoint. Great space - seemed like they had a lot of seating and could accommodate a decent crowd. Overall the atmosphere was chill and relaxed. Good beers too! I had a flight of some of their lighter brews - the blonde, wheat, Hefeweizen and the saison. I enjoyed them all and would order any of them on a return visit. I would definitely come back here next time I'm in town and would probably be a regular if I lived here. read more

Top notch! The staff was great, the beer even better. We had the Milk Stout, The Scottish Ale and the Robust Porter. All three were delish but the Milk Stout was really something special. Great place to hang out with friends and have a cold one! I had the Belgian Golden Strong, which was a perfect copy of a basic Belgian beer. Think trappist, Duvel, or Palm. I also sampled the American Pale Ale, and it was yummy. Beers served in variety of glasses, the right one for each beer. Menu contains information on alcohol by volume (abv) and international bittering units (ibu) for each beer. Great information for selecting just what you want. Games, snacks, and plenty of room make it easy to spend some time with friends. And attentive staff that keeps 'em coming! read more

I had never really been into dark beers, but because of this place it's all that I drink. They also have a complimentary snack area and some games you can play. Fantastic beer with a large selection available. The staff is very friendly and willing to help you with your beer decision. The owners (husband and wife) have been on scene each time we have been there and they have been active in the operation and interested in making sure customers are enjoying their stay.
