Stopped in here on the way out of town after looking for a chill place to relax after reffing a bunch of youth basketball games. I was immediately greeted by a young hostess who was happy to find me a table, but I said I'd find a spot at the bar. I was immediately greeted by Sophia who handed me a beer list and was happy to pour a sample. That's nice service to start out with. She checked in but was never overbearing. A+. Their unique 60/40 beef/bacon burgers caught my eye...mine had cheese sauce, tons of bacon, and bacon jam. You can only have these cooked medium well or well done; for a burger I feel that's acceptable. Sandwich components were all delightful...the beer battered fries have a nice smooth coating and the house made ranch was the thinner variety was a great complement too. I'll kip the pretzel bun next time; I didn't find it to be a great complement to the components on the burger. I felt too many taps had crappy mass-produced domestics for the squares out there. I highly recommend the Mason City Cream Ale. Wish they sold their glasses! Credit cards have a 2.99% service fee. Thankfully, debit cards have no fee...which is the law. Not many places follow this procedure. read more

This place was a lil pricey but it's amazing. From the appetizer to the burgers to the milkshakes... everything was very satisfying

Server, or Bus Girl Amy..who appeared to be a trainee reached into her right pocket to retrieve a pad of paper and pulled out what appeared to be a glass methamphetamine pipe..she smiled, apologized and quietly moved to the back..My wife also witnessed the same server (Amy] taking money from 2 tables that appeared to be tip money..Strange indeed. read more

I knew there was one in Ames and have been wanting to try just haven't got the chance, so when I saw this was close, definitely had to try!! We ordered to go as we just wanted to eat quick and get back on the road. I got bone in parmesan wings & my boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich & we shared some cheese curds :) The food was yummy and the cheese curds were great! Food was nice and warm even though we ordered to go! Would definitely recommend & will be trying the Ames location next!! read more

Great food and service. They were quick. Ambiance was great also, clean and friendly.

While visiting with family in Iowa, a college friend who I hadn't seen in almost 19 years texted me and asked if we could meet up at Boukder Tap House for lunch (dinner). We had a great visit and the food (as well as the beer and service) was fantastic. Started off with the Crispy Fried Pickles as the appetizer. I ordered the Legendary Bone-In wings (with sweet & spicy sauce) while Shelly had the Chicken Cobb Salad. Washed it down with a Peanut Butter Stout and a Claymore Scotch Ale. Overall, nice place to stop for food and throw down a pint. read more

Large portions, mediocre food, excellent service. Sunday night, we were staying downtown and couldn't find a place to eat. Seems most restaurants are closed on Sunday. Boulder Tap House was open so we ended up here. We arrived without reservations and they were moderately busy. We were seated right away and immediately a waitress was there to take our drink order. The beers are large. The menu looked good so we ordered the jalapeño cheese wontons (when they arrived the looked and tasted like poppers), cups of soup and tacos. The wontons/ popper were awful. We each tried one and left the rest. I had the potato soup and my husband ordered the chili. Both were very good. I was really looking forward to the Nashville hot tacos. They were disappointing. Too sweet, greasy and didn't have any heat. My husband's fish tacos were acceptable. The waitress was vey attentive and deserves 5 stars. She upped the rating from 2 to 3 stars. I'd stop here for a beer but cannot recommend the food. read more

Place is pretty good. Nice hang out for casual parties. The drinks and food are good too. The server was very attentive to our large group.

Was in town for a family event and we were trying to find a place with the space and menu variety to manage a larger group (9) - Boulder Tap House fit the bill perfectly. We were able to sit together in the back room without issue. The menu, expansive, had something for everyone and many items that caught my eye. In the end, almost everyone in our group had something different and all were pleased. We also had a few appetizers - the house made cheese curds had that homemade charm, the avocado fries were a delicious way to get both avocado AND breading in my mouth, and the house made tater tots in the totchos were very good (I've never seen a place with house made tots before - at first I wondered where the tots were because they didn't look like the ones you normally see!). The beer and cocktail list was equally as expansive as the food menu - definitely something for any taste. read more

Went in yesterday and had the best drinks. The bartender was on it. Our waitress was really nice and helpful. My wife and I were impressed with the food too. The place was clean. I would recommend it. read more

Gave the place another try after not being hear for a couple year. Definitely has not improved. Had a Philly and fries. The Philly was basically burnt meat with a couple overcooked pieces of peppers onions and mushrooms on an oversized hotdog bun with some horrible excuse for a cheese sauce on it, paired with rather soggy fries that seemed to be a couple hours old. In the good side, service was prompt and fairly attentive, so will give the server a good review, but the food was bad...simply bad. And the price was much higher than most restaurants for a Philly and fries, and other are much better and bigger!! read more

Wow, we had such a great experience here during a hockey tournament. A group of 10 was able to sit at two separate tables and we had just the best meal. Service was great, there are tons of TVs and a great selection on tap. I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality and imagination on some of the meals For example, the cheese curd appetizer is phenomenal. They make them in house and are perfect. Get them with the house sauce, they are memorable. Also loved the totchos and better yet the Jalepeno Rangoon was also quite good. The rest of the menus are simple burgers and wings, but food was great. I felt comfortable with the Covid guidelines. Expect them to make you give your number and they will call you when your seat is ready. The wait time was pretty accurate. We will definitely be eating here again. read more

I travel here for work and it's a definite must!! I have hd their burgers as well!! Never disappointed!!!! read more

Passing through and needed to grab a bite to eat, seen the parking lot was full so figured it would be a good place. Wrong, we were seated by the bar and kitchen, couldn't help hearing the bar tender and staff were gripping about customers and there jobs. Waitress was on top of her game by coming to our table several seconds apart looking for us to hurry up and take our orders. When got our food, A 14$ hamburger that was dry and cold and wings that were burnt and no taste fries and chips tasted to be done in old grease that fish was cooked in. Maybe this was a off night but we won't be back. read more

Tried this for lunch during the work week. They start out by asking if I want a beer menu (11:30 AM). Even just ordering a burger, I couldn't get out of there in under an hour. I did like the flavor of the smashed burger - but is was over done and seemed small for the price. Service was very friendly, but I think they only had 3 servers for the entire restaurant, and that was part of the reason for the time issues read more

I really enjoyed dining here. Service was excellent and food was great as well. Best Cuban Sandwich I've ever had. Upgrade to the sweet potato fries. They give a generous amount and the chipotle dip that comes with it, is fantastic. (If you like that kind of thing) Would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again. read more

This place is definitely underrated by previous guests. I don't hardly ever order out because nowhere I've eaten burgers seasons their burgers. The food lacked effort and flavor. Overall grease fest. Asked for a medium rare burger off the menu that allows that cook and got a medium well burger. The corn curl ribs.. leave much to be desired. Deep fried and all the seasonings is on the cob portion not where the corn is actually at. The service was just ehhh. We were seated at a booth with worn out cushions that were ripped. One server for the whole section so we hardly saw her. The ambiance was ok. read more

Good food, sports bar atmosphere had good service. Good food for the money. I eat here frequently when in the area.

We have eaten here once before and it was great but unfortunately that was not the case this time. I ordered a salad to come before our dinner which ended up coming with the rest of our food (after I had to ask another waitress for it) my husbands wings were so salt and cold we couldn't eat them, both of mine and my kids food were lukewarm as well but we all still ate. The waitress Autum did not fill our drinks nor did she ask ( maybe that's because she only checked on us twice the whole time). The manager did the take the wings off of our ticket but didn't seem to care that we had poor service. Needless to say, the food can be fixed but the customer service problems likely won't be. read more

We were in town for a celebration of life and decided to eat here. We had a party of 20+ and they were able to accommodate us. Lets start with the drinks. They have a large selection of beer choices and our server was extremely knowledgeable on them all. They also have a large selection of specialty drinks. I had their tea drink that was amazing. We had several appetizers including pretzels and cheese, wontons, fried pickles, cheese curds and house chips. They all were delicious and no complaints. Everyone ordered different meals with no complaints. I had a build a burger that included fried jalapeños, cheese curds and bacon. The burger was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the rest complimented the burger to perfection. The service was the best! The server we had kept all the drinks full and juggled all the orders! We are fans of The Boulder Tap House and will be visiting the Minnesota locations frequently. read more

Boulder Tap House - Menu - Burgers Near Me - Mason City, Iowa

The Boulder is kind of like a local version of a Buffalo Wild Wings. The restaurant is adorned with televisions on every wall broadcasting every sports game imaginable. The menu features burgers, chicken wings, a handful of fresher items, and - of course - a large list of beers on tap. The whole vibe was a nice mix of energetic but still laid back, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The food quality was just so-so. The dry rub on the chicken wings was pretty dusty, making it not the best carrier for flavor - I'd recommend getting a sauce instead. The beer selection was great, though, and the other food items were fine. If you're looking to watch the game while hanging with friends and grabbing a meal, the Boulder is a fine option. If you want the best food, though, perhaps look elsewhere. read more

It's a bar with food. Plenty of beers and a full bar to keep you interested. The bar food I have had here has been Okay to pretty good. Cheese curds are all right but greasy. The half pound burger was good but was missing flavor, even with pepper bacon (very good BTW) and cheese. The 'standout' I (besides the beers) was the spicy garlic sauce for their wings. Great flavor. read more

Great place to go for late night eats. Sports bar environment, great tap list and friendly service!

I'm not sure why this place has any less than five stars. Frozen peach margarita was delicious. The absolute best spinach and artichoke dip I've ever eaten. I ordered salt and vinegar traditional wings which were great. My daughter ordered some kind of an onion burger... here comes this burger, a good 10" high, three onion rings, homemade and cooked perfectly, some kind of cheese on top of the bun holding the onion rings in place, burger, cheese. More onions I think. It was awesome. Of course I forgot to take a picture. ‍ read more
