Fat Cat Flats killed my baby and broke my heart... I slowly petted the thing that meant the most to me as she struggled to survive. She didn't want to give up. I know she didn't want to leave me, but the damage was too great. She was older now and just didn't have the strength to continue. Through tears I told her it was ok and that I loved her more than anything in this world. 1 minute later at 1:05 am on July 2nd she took a last deep breath and died...and so did I in some way. Her name was Hope and that's what she gave me...Hope. She chose me in July of 2013. I thought I was saving her, but she was saving me. She was the only thing that has ever truly loved me; that accepted me with all my faults, all my damage, all the baggage. She was the only thing there for me when I was going through some very dark times. Without her I wouldn't have made it. She meant everything to me. And I told this to the guy at Fat Cat Flats. I told him that she had diabetes and has had it for a couple years now but it's under control. I provided the insulin and needles. He said it wouldn't be an issue and that he could give her the shots as directed. When I dropped her off, I told him that I would do anything for her, that I had no family, nothing else but her. I told him that I was traveling and wouldn't be available, so if anything at all happened, take her to the vet. I said I didn't care about the cost. I only care about her. I told her she gets pretty bad separation anxiety and may not eat, so give her a variety of wet and dry food, but again if anything happens take her to the vet. He ignored my direction. She stopped eating and he decided, WITHOUT CONSULTING A VET, that he would stop giving her, her insulin shots. He did this for almost 3 days before he took her to the vet! She fought for several days. The vet did their best to keep her alive, but they said the damage was too great. The vet told me that Fat Cat Flats not giving her insulin directly led to her death. I told him what the vet said and that the bills cost close to $15k (in the end it was just over $10k). I said that I wanted to talk with the owners. He said he had all my contact info and would let them know. A few days later and no contact. I called him again and said I wanted to talk with the owners...same response and same outcome. I called for a third time and again no contact. To this date they still won't contact me. If you love your cat DO NOT TAKE your cat here. read more

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CATS HERE! I so rarely leave reviews but this is a must. Not only did the groomer not listen or groom my cat as requested, but my cat seems straight up traumatized and she's hissing at her mate which she never does. I didn't even know my 3 year old cat hissed because she never has before. She's a Scottish Fold with straight ears, very playful and sweet. Super personable cat. And she's been groomed many times (at another place). My request to the groomer - I made an analogy thinking it was the best way to describe the goal. I said if my cat is a 100% fluff ball now, can we make her about a 25% fluff ball, and make sure to clean around her butt and trim her nails. She asked if I wanted her face trimmed a little, I said yes... what I got was 0% fluff ball except for a fluff ball head - literally - "boots" and a tail.. essentially the lion's cut. I DID NOT ASK FOR THIS! I SPECIFICALLY SAID I DO NOT WANT A LION'S CUT. Hence why the analogy was made of what I wanted. Now back as home (grooming was yesterday) my cat's behavior is extremely uncharacteristic. She's not being playful, not cuddling... Poor thing wants to lick, because that's what cats do and there is nothing to lick.. she's basically licking her skin which will only lead to more issues. I can't believe I paid almost $100 for this.. I blame myself in many ways. And feel like an awful cat mom. I brought my cat here long ago and was semi satisfied but decided to continue looking.. I found a new groomer who had been amazing but she took a position at a dog only facility so I reluctantly went back to Fat Cat Flats. Logistically we were unable to take him with us, but our vet (who we trust very much after years of treatment for all our pets) recommended Fat Cat Flats for long term boarding. I'm so disappointed. NEVER AGAIN! First boarding experience with these 2 kitties. I feel like such an a** for leaving them there! 10 days total :( I will try not to ramble... They were obviously not exercised outside of their kennel like I was told they would be. ONLY a fourth of the food I sent was used. They were excessively thirsty when I got them home. The item I sent with them that smells like me/home and two little plush toys were left in their carriers and never with them the entire time. One cats bottom had to be washed...It was sticky and dirty?!?! So I will definitely be watching that! I'm the new mama to a Persian cat, whose long hair I'm still trying to figure out how to best maintain. I was doing pretty well until she got closer to her first birthday and "blew" her coat. Whoa. Nothing could have prepared me for the mats she would get during this period! I simply could not keep up and I honestly was at a loss. Some Persian cat parents are ok with the lion cut, but my mom really didn't want me to do that. We decided a few bald spots with basically still very long hair to cover them was the way to go. This presented the new challenge of finding a place to bring her. I was annoyed because a few places that had the option to book cats on their website turned out to actually not do cats. The one place nearby that did take cats would not just shave the mats off but insisted they needed to do the full lion cut. After much research, and even though I had previously been determined to find a mobile service or some place close, I decided to go with Fat Cat Flats. I am so grateful I did! From the first phone call to ask about whether they would agree to just shave the mats to scheduling the appointment, they were so kind and patient!!! The man who answered the phone patiently answered all my questions and gave me an appointment for the next day. I could tell by his voice that this was the same man who greeted me when I brought her in. He was so reassuring and helpful! I asked for her to also get a sanitary cut. They were done way faster than I thought they'd be (it was maybe about an hour to 1.5 hrs later when I got the call) and I could not be happier with the job they did! Yes, she has a few bald spots but her fur is so insanely long that they're covered from a lot of angles. I had also been worried about her accidentally getting nicked because some of the mats were so close to her skin. But I couldn't find a single nick or sore! I was so relieved! When I picked her up, I wanted to leave a big tip on my credit card since I do not carry cash. However, it turns out they have an older system that doesn't let you do that. I apologized profusely and he was so kind about the whole thing. They said they may be upgrading the system soon to one that lets you tip on a credit card, but I'll bring cash next time just in case. In fact, I had originally thought that I would only bring her here once, and just because of the mats. I had bought pet clippers and had planned on figuring out how to give her a hygiene cut myself since it needs to be done regularly, but I felt so comfortable at Fat Cat Flats and they did such an awesome job for a super-reasonable price that I feel it's worth it to drive the distance and pay them to do it. I brought two cats in for baths and nail trimming. John was professional and reasssuring that they would be able to treat my old cat with lots of TLC and that they would be able to manage my "wild cat". It turns out that both cats did very well and neither one gave the groomer (I think her name was Natalie) any trouble. Our cat was sedated before going because he was not going to be friendly.Took him to update shots the day before and he hissed. They suggested we give him 1/4 of a pill to calm him down. He was going to be shaved, he had some stuff in his fur that had knotted up. Anyway, they were nice to take him 1st so he wouldn't be stressed, Basil still hissed and spit while my daughter stood by to get him to calm down. my cat is basically my child, my heart, and my soul so i always want to make sure that she will be well taken care of without me present and fat cat flats is just that kind of place! they are very friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and know how to care for your cats. the building itself is hard to spot out at first (i miss it a few times) but once you're there, everything is pretty set to the point! their drop off time is from 10am to noon i believe and once you drop your cat off, they will give you about an estimated window time in which they will be ready to pick up. i don't understand the complaints from some of these reviews about the drop off time, when most places do it just like this to ensure that they aren't overbooking. upon picking up my cat, they informed me that there could be slight shedding since she just had a bath and that it would be much better tomorrow. i appreciate them letting me know this and keeping me in the loop. i truly recommend this place if anyone is in the area looking for cat grooming! :) read more

My friend left her old cat here for 2 weeks. Upon her return, her cat was sick, his paws covered in pasty litter, and they returned 20 out of the 24 cans of wet food she left him. Even his bag of favorite treats was full and returned. And they did not charge extra for any food they must've fed him of their own. When they picked him up, they told them the kitty had a little cold. But, once they got home their cat looked extremely weak and was taken to the vet. The vet mentioned how the cat has been left untreated for too long, has lost 12% of the weight that he was before being boarded at fat cat flats. My friends cat, Thomas, passed away 2 days later. She wrote a letter to fat cat flats but there is absolutely no response from them. They never even called to inform my friend that their cat was sick! Despite the pet insurance she had to pay for any vet visits while she's gone. I am extremely disappointed and we should all question the quality of care they are providing here for our precious cats. I am FUMING from the experience I had here today. I had two of my cats sent here just to get groomed and have their nails trimmed, etc. They did not give us a particular time- weird. Said they would call around 2 for pick up, they didn't. I had to have my partner call around 2:50 to see what was wrong. Finally around 3:30 we go to get them, one of them peed themselves from being so upset/stressed. Not only that, but they were growling & hissing at the people brushing them. They haven't stopped shedding from stress and being upset for almost 2 hours. Which one thing we sent for them to be taken care of is their shedding, but now they are shedding even more from being so upset (literally just petting them I have a handful of hair, WTF????). I am beyond upset at the way they treated my animals- if you specialize in cats I would expect them to be relaxed and taken care of. I took Nova to the vet a couple weeks later when I noticed a balding spot on him, he was diagnosed with ringworm. I do not have any other animals, live plants or any other living thing in my home other than the two of us as well as have never let nova outside. I use to bathe Nova when he was a kitten and he had no problem in the bath but after taking him to fat cat flats Nova won't go near water and freaks out if I try to give him a bath now. I have found other groomers who have informed me that Fat cat flats is known for "going for blood" as in they do not care how they treat your animal as long as they get the job done. I am so heartbroken I ever put Nova through that by taking him to fat cat flats and hope this keeps many cats from experiencing trauma and/or ringworm at the hands of this facility. Ive been loyal but afraid I will think twice about returning. Latest holiday week experience;I left my 12 year old Persian cat for 5 hours, and was called to say she was ready. I did specifically request a 3 pm pick up if possible. Still working on her when I arrived, they did their best, rushing to finish up. When I got home I discovered the one thing I had requested -the matted knots of fluff under her chin - were still there. Heres what I want that I don't get here: clean orderly work space and kennel, a reasonable appointment for grooming, recognition for return business. Their rates are clearly stated, and I spent $100 with tip.Staff is responsive but overworked. They've got a regular following but IMO they could use a new business plan. read more

This place gets 5 stars for the simple fact that they were able to groom my cat at all. My cat is meeeeeeeeeeean and she has gotten sent home from countless 'groomers' (I put that in quotes cuz I should have known better than to think the people at Petco and rinky dink other little shops were capable of handling any cat). I'd drop her off and get a call a couple hours later that the groomers were too scared to get her out of her carrier and then I'd have to go get her. I moved into the area and remembered this place only works with cats, so I gave them a call. I've been twice so far and my cat has gotten lion cuts each time. She's really scary when she's mad, but the groomers here have nerves of steel apparently. They are also very caring and gentle with the cats....they know how to be firm, yet not aggressive when dealing with a psycho kitty. I have used FCF grooming services for two of my three cats. I used to think that pet grooming was a waste of time and money, and a needless stress on the animal; HOWEVER, I was forced to look into it after my longhaired cat lost weight last summer due to continuously puking up hairballs. I have one of those Furminator grooming giz-bobs, but it only works really well on one of my cats. So, my vet recommended FCF, and the groomer is an amazing unicorn of a woman. My little Grimmy comes back with a HILARIOUS lion cut (not the groomer's fault - without his massive fur coat, he kind of looks like a skinny little rat-weasel thing), clean ears, clipped toenails, and none the worse for wear. He's since regained the weight he lost from barfing up hairballs all the time. My other cat, Juno, just got a bath and a fanny clip, because she is a tubby little chub-chub, and I got tired of chasing after her with the wet wipes after a visit to the litterbox. I was really impressed with the groomer's attention to detail: not only were her toenails clipped, but all of the gross yeasty funk was cleaned off of every single toenail (Juno has a few odd but minor health issues, and this is one of them). Her ears were super clean, and her coat was so much softer and shinier than I've ever seen. Both of my kitties were nervous and a bit skittish, but she handled them well. Where do i start? Okay, so i made an appointment the day before and they got me in the next day (12/23/20). It was very quick for this time around so i was surprised they had any openings. The gentleman over the phone told me to be there between 10:30am and noon. I found it a little odd, but i ignored it. I arrived around 11:20 am and park. From the outside the place looks kind of old and not well maintained. As i enter, the gentleman there gives me papers to fill out. I got 2 baths for short haired cats. I asked him if they will start right away with my cats and he said no. They had to wait for the groomer to get there around noonish because of covid and business issues. I didn't understand why he even told me to bring them in early when they weren't even going to get looked at past noon.I asked him when i could pick up my cats, he said to come at 2 pm. 2 pm comes around and i get no call. It's 2:45 pm now so i call them back. Now they tell me to come at 3:35 pm. I plan my day around a schedule so this was an inconvenience for me. I get there and the cat's aren't ready still. I got to see them through the glass door and my cats were hissing and growling while the lady was brushing them (quite aggressively). One of my cats peed on herself there because she was stressed out (which is the first time this has ever happened) and one time on the way home. I get home and i went to pet them; they were shedding more hair than when they left for a bath and brush appointment. Overall, it's overpriced for the job that they did. Our little Persian was in dire need of a lion cut, as she is an adopted rescued pet being 16-18 years old, we were very concerned about how stressful it would be for her to go to a new groomer. She had a 10:00 o'clock appointment and was not ready until 5:30 p.m., they stated that they had a really bad cat that gave them trouble and our baby had to be put on the back burner. Had been promised that she would be ready by 2:00. After spending 4 hours in traffic coming and going to take and pick her up, it was a tad stress-full for all parties. Having said that ...we were pleased with no razor burns and she purred all the way home...will definitely try them again...but find a way to make a time frame that works best. This place is the absolute greatest!! I would recommend this place to every cat owner. My cat doesn't do well with being boarded, but any time I pick him up from here, he is happy as can be!! He's also become noticeably more social with humans and other cats since taking him here. As for the grooming, we used to get my cat's lion cuts at the vet because he had to be sedated. They say he is their "second to worst patient, second to a 21 year old."
