It has been just over a week from the time that I had to leave the ranch. I have refrained from…read morewriting a review until I could really give it some thought and attention. We were welcomed from the first moment (and we arrived later than expected but a text to Lynn had us feeling confident we were headed to the right place, because the last few miles can seem like you are in the middle of nowhere). I woke up after the first night tent camping and instantly had tears in my eyes while enjoying sunrise with a cup of coffee. It is so incredibly beautiful, it honestly felt like a gift to be there. The land is beautiful, well maintained, and perfect for a couples or family getaway (I am actually planning a few lone trips because I felt such a spirit connection here). There are numerous sites for camping, the lodge is super cute and I will probably stay a few times at one of the rooms there. The entire ranch is stunning and we felt like we were among family the entire time. We had freedom to socialize if we desired, but had plenty of space to go off on our own. We enjoyed coffee in the morning, a glass of wine at night, and our days were full of hiking, horseback riding, and sometimes just enjoying the ability to unplug. I implore you to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner (at least one of each) to get the full extent of how great this side of the Ranch is. I highly recommend the biscuits and gravy, but nothing compares to the has brown casserole that is handmade by Lynn and is a culinary delight! The chicken Cesar wraps are a great lunch to take if you plan on going on a hike (with a quick text to the owner, we had lunch packed up for us and ready to o when we headed out to Rainbow falls). The dinners have a community feel, though you could certainly take it to go. We enjoyed both the cafeteria style dinners as well as bacon cheeseburgers (drool-worthy). The area is perfectly located to give you a break from reality but close enough to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Seiverville (easy day trips and we spent a day in each area). Rainbow Falls, Grotto Falls, and countless other outdoor adventures are also a quick drive, but there is also a lot that can be done on the ranch. We enjoyed walking the farm, petting the horses, and decided to take a trail ride. It was such an adventure. The guides were extremely thoughtful of my anxiety/fear of horses while also encouraging to my partner's comfort and ease around them (giving each of us room to enjoy the ride as we needed). They also became like friends/family by the time we left (we even extended our stay by one day because we did not want to leave). I truly want to see them succeed, they have a great story, and have encouraged all of my family and friends to visit. I hope to make this place a regular getaway spot. Don't wait, book it now!! Tips: * If tent camping, make sure you account for possible rainy weather (think shoes/boots if it gets muddy) * Be aware that it can get windy at night, you are at the base of a mountain - tents should be securely tethered * Bring a treat for the horses, you won't regret making friends with them * Communicate with the owners/hands, the idea here is a bed and breakfast even if you are camping. * Don't be shy to reach out when you want a meal, being that they are a small operation, there may not always be someone readily available but they will accommodate if given a heads up (and won't make you feel guilty for it) * Branch out of your comfort zone, have a conversation with other campers or visitors

My wife and I have never been able to take our dogs on vacation. We finally decided to look into…read moreplaces that offered "pet friendly" amenities for a quick weekend getaway, and figured that a vacation property likely offered us the best chance of finding a place for ourselves and our two dogs to enjoy. Now, when I say we have two dogs, it's a bit of an exaggeration; we have one dog and one bloodhound, who is more like a small horse than a dog in many aspects. So when hotels say they're "dog friendly", they often mean dogs under 50#. Our big guy is 110#, slings drool up onto walls, and scratches at doors while screaming at the top of his lungs when he really needs to go outside. Suffice it to say, he wouldn't be very welcome at most "pet friendly" establishments. If there is a more pet-friendly place to vacation than Autumn Dancer Llama Farm, I challenge you to find it. Our dogs have never been more relaxed than they are here. A large, fully fenced in 1/4 acre back yard runs down a slope from the cabin. There is no opportunity for the dogs to escape- they don't particularly seem to want to anyway! The wrap-around deck is also fenced in, and your dogs can be corralled on it if need be. Toys are provided for your pups as well! You can bring and board horses on 2.5 acres with a shelter. There are paths and country roads for you to explore. The cabin itself is quaint and rustic enough but is also modern in all the right ways. Wi-Fi and satellite TV are provided, there's a gas fireplace, full A/C and heating are also here. You can grill outside on the covered deck via a seemingly endless supply of propane provided by the owners. And there is a hot tub on the back porch with a gorgeous, serene view. The cabin is clean and well-maintained. Ed and Ginny have done a wonderful job of finding the balance between country charm and modern amenities. Lastly, Ed & Ginny are amazing. There are more than a few animals on the farm who are simply put out to pasture. It takes a certain type of personality to look after animals who technically do not contribute to a working farm- both Ed & Ginny are kind, sweet people who love animals. They also care about their renters- they offered to pick up groceries in advance, lead us in from a local town if it was too dark for us to feel safe, and tend to our dogs a few times if we wanted to go out by ourselves during the day. Additionally, while we were staying here, a large/violent storm ran through. Ed called us to make sure we were safe and sound and just give us a heads up that he was a stone's throw away. The owners are kind, sweet people, and I think that deserves mentioning. We are here right now (mid-May), and we love it so much that we're in the process of booking another 4-5 days in October! Disclaimer: This place is definitely in the country. GPS devices don't work too well, and there are some pretty "country" back roads that you can get sent down if you come in at night. Make sure you clear up directions with Ed & Ginny before you put all your weight in your Garmin. Personally, I used the Waze app on my iPhone and it actually got me right to the front door after some interesting directions in Newport were avoided. Also, next time I come, I'm bringing a power strip just for charging phones/computers.

When we booked this cabin we were told it was remote, we could bring up to 5 dogs of ANY size and…read morethey could stay out as late as we wanted them too. On our FIRST night, since we were celebrating my Great Danes 8th Birthday (Great Danes rarely lvev beyond 8 or 9 years of age) we thought they would be o.k. to stay out until 10 pm. The first night we got in around 8 or 8:30. We brought 3 dogs. at 9:39 pm I looked at my cell phone because there was a dog barking across the road. ONE of my 3 dogs was barking back. I thought we would bring them in at 10. A few minutes later we heard gunfire. My husband rushed to get our furbabies out of the yard. I go the the range frequently and I could detect the general direction the gunfire was coming from. Unfortunately, they have several newer houses out there and that makes rural not so rural. I called and left a message for the owner the next day. I had sat up most of the night worrying about it. She said a lot of people out there slept with their windows open this time of year and a lot go to bed around 8 pm. Well, our dogs have a lot of neighbor dogs in the city, and they can stay out until 9 pm. If she had told us that, we never would have booked. And, first day, of course they barked at horses, llamas and mules. The reviews all said everybodies dogs had. She did say we could leave the next day. I was all for it. My husband wanted the full 3 nights. That night I'm actually getting ready for bed at 7:35 pm, dogs were comin g in at 8 pm. At 7:35 PM, my husband rushed in dragging our dogs. A neighbor was standing outside, staring up and screaming to Shut Up at the top of his lungs over and over. The follwing morning we were up at 6 am, took out all trash, swept the kitchen floor and washed the dishes. Then we called the owner's husbsnd who had stated he would lead us to the main road. No answer. His SUV was there, he wasn't on the cart at the barns. Directions from 3 people later, we got to the main hwy. I called Ginny that night. I told her her husband had not met us....she didn't even give me a chance to ask (I thought he was forgetful) or if we had forgotten anything. She screamed into the phone. Why are you Calling me, I'm Done With You (My total of 2 calls?) and she hung up. At one time this cabin was more remote and I'm sure your dogs were welcome. But they are NOT now. They may not even be safe. I might add, older children who might make noise after 8 PM, they will tell you they are welcome. Please remember the gunfire. It only went off until the noise ceased. Not target practice. And the owners. If you have a problem, one she has your money, as she told me "I'm DONE with you!"

I guess I did not know what to expect when they said that NC had hot springs. I was hoping to soak…read morein the hot springs that are embedded into the actual ground. When securing the hot springs resort and spa, my "friend" wanted to book it late at night around 9 pm. I wasn't too fond of that idea since I wanted to view the scenery. Anyway, he changed the reservation time by phone. We went with the basic package for 60 minutes. Once we arrived, the parking lot was spacious. We went to check in and purchased some souvenirs that were a bit on the pricey side. An older gentleman who was nice walked us to our hot springs which was just a secluded hot tub near a free-flowing body of water. The hot tub temperatures were warm and not skin-burning hot, but it was perfect since it eased my tense and painful muscles that I had been temporarily suffering since the beginning of the week. I can't say if the water was real mineral water or not. I just wasn't expecting the hot springs to be a hot tub with jets. My expectations were much higher, as I had imagined like the ones in Colorado. I was hoping to nestle my body against some geological formations as I was engulfed in peace and relaxation.

They cleaned up at the end of the day - no mess was ever left. The construction generally stayed within budget. These guys were a pleasure to be around also. They were funny and nice, but also respectful of our need for privacy. Also our completed addition! It's so gorgeous! Everything is in perfect working order. Their eye for detail and overall craftsmanship is amazing. I really can't say enough how great our en suite master bedroom is. It has transformed our house from a cramped space into our dream house. One truly remembers a place this wonderful. Located in beautiful quaint Jonesboro, there are many uniques shops and restaurants. Tennessee Hills offers tastings. The personnel are knowledgeable and friendly. We have had some of the best conversations with the staff and customers. This time we had lunch at the cafe next door. Fantastic food choices the Reuben and spicy chicken sandwiches get my highest recommendation. They offer a great number of mixed drinks made with their craft distilled spirits. Several Sunday football games were on the TVs in the cafe. The mood was festive in the cafe. Tennessee Hills has a new location in Bristol too! We will be back again and again!

From our parking spot, we spotted Tennessee Hills Distillery and knew we needed to check it out. The Tennessee Hills Distillery opened in the historic Salt House of Jonesborough in 2016. We were immediately impressed with the downtown area of Jonesborough and the salt house in which Tennessee Hills Distillery is located. The building itself is amazing and is something that we would love to have as our own. We are drawn to historic commercial buildings that are being preserved and renovated to house businesses and/or homes. After walking inside, we were even more impressed. They were offering complimentary tastings and we decided to participate. We thought the pineapple upside down cake rum was delicious. They have a wide selection of liquor ranging from whiskey, flavored whiskey, rum, flavored rum, gin and vodka. They also have some nice SWAG for purchase and unique gift items. We purchased a bottle of their Pineapple Upside Down Cake Rum to give to our good friends. Overall, this was a great visit and we highly recommend to others.

He personally took our reservation, was incredibly friendly, and immediately set the tone for a truly memorable stay. The Jonesborough B&B is a charming historic home just a short walk down the hill to Main Street, home of the Storytelling Capital of the World, and it genuinely feels like a place where stories live. The original hardwood floors creak as you walk, old books line the shelves, and even the cute tandem bicycle on the porch feels like it has stories of its own. We stayed in the master suite, which was comfortable, cozy, and full of character. One of our favorite thoughtful touches was the warming stones. Such a unique detail and incredibly comforting after a cold day of exploring. Placed under the covers near your feet, they warm the entire bed and make it unbelievably cozy. I think I am really going to miss those rocks . Breakfast was welcoming, warm, and wonderful. Clearly prepared with care . It felt homemade, relaxed, and personal. Exactly the kind of breakfast that invites you to linger and talk, which felt especially fitting in a town built on storytelling. One of the highlights of our stay was swapping stories with Brian. We loved hearing about his art, his travels, and his son's adventures abroad. Those conversations made the experience feel less like staying at a B&B and more like being welcomed into someone's home. What truly stood out was how supportive and connected this town is. Everywhere we went, we mentioned Brian's name and were met with the warmest welcome. True VIP treatment. Brian Mills is your host (as well as owner & chef of the Jonesborough Bed & Breakfast). Brian is gracious, funny, insightful, caring, and [potentially best of all] wonderfully skilled at preparing a delicious breakfast! Our next favorite topic: Food! I'm making myself hungry while typing this :-) My family & I thoroughly enjoyed fresh fruit, 3 types of yogurt, 2 types of granola, toasted croissants, local jam, marmalade and honey, hand-pressed orange juice, freshly ground coffee, and engaging conversation (Brian is fabulous at opening the conversation as well as keeping it relevant and interesting all along that journey). Loved our breakfast time with Brian. Location *Exactly* where we needed & wanted to stay: right on Main St., Jonesborough, TN. This bed and breakfast has an ideal location just a few blocks from town, and it worked out really well with our tour plans. I recommend the walking tour and their Visitors' Center. We could go on and on about our exploration (have you heard of the state of Franklin? ...you'll find out about it in Jonesborough). Now, for those who want to branch out and see even more, Brian knows the region VERY well, so he can recommend fun things nearby. He helped us find a great tapas restaurant in neighboring Johnson City, TN (Tupelo Honey). It's a short drive to those restaurants, shops and historic sites in Johnson City. Beds We loved the beds & pillows, and slept very well. The air conditioning worked very well, and Brian showed us how to adjust it if needed. Bath Luxurious. One confession, if I may: we took lots of pictures because we plan to borrow Brian's style when we renovate our bath. We especially liked the twin sink vanity with lots of natural light from the windows. Loved it :-) And we'll be back in the near future (our younger daughter and her boyfriend are moving to this area after finishing the remaining 3 semesters of university studies). One of two cabins we stayed at for our ski trip was rented through Mrs. Margarita Elordi, who owns…read morea 4-bed, 3-bath cabin at the base of the mountain where Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is located. The cabin is located just off Puncheon Fork Rd. in the Wolf Creek community. The drive from the cabin to the ski resort is about 10 to 15 minutes. Once you leave Puncheon Fork for the cabin, the roads are not paved. Instead, they are gravel all the way. While the cabin is not located too far from the road, if there is snow or ice on the ground, a four-wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended. Almost necessary, I would say. The cabin was very nice. It was a log cabin that looked fairly new. The cabin slept 12 people and, for the most part, was spacious. The kitchens and bathrooms were impressive from the sinks to the countertops to the appliances. Very modern. Most rooms slept two, although there was one room with three sets of bunk beds (to sleep six, military barracks style). The master bedroom bath had a small Jacuzzi. The master bedroom also had a TV and DVD player and there was another small one downstairs. The main living room/kitchen area was great for our large group. We had difficulty getting the fire in the fireplace to stick. It was a traditional fireplace as opposed to the convenient gas fireplace we had in our other cabin at Scenic Wolf Resort. I liked the open kitchen with island counter and picnic table/bench-style seating for community meals. The stairs to the top led to a game room with pool table and poker table. There wasn't a whole lot of room to operate upstairs in the "game room" (e.g. the short spaces made many pool shots awkward). However, it sufficed. I did like how we could look down into the living room and kitchen from the game room. The place as a whole was decorated quite nicely and definitely got us in mountain vacation mode. Wi-Fi speed was excellent and there was cell phone service (the same cannot be said at the top of the mountain). Cabin price was reasonable. Overall, I thought this cabin was an excellent choice for our large group of skiers.

It was a…read moregood price and the off season, so there not many people in the resort, but we had a blast! it was serene and secluded. Fabulous views and a bit of a stomach turner of a drive to get there....It would be difficult to drive there during a storm, i surmise. Our house, the Eagles Nest had many of the amenities we needed for a vacation home. The house did need a cleaning, It seems that it does not get too much house keeping because there were ant all over the main floor/dining area. BUt we were able to make do and ignore it for the few days we were there. It was a beautiful house otherwise, with very good 3 story accommodations for an extended family to share. We enjoyed our stay in May, great weather and nice people at the resort!

This place used to be really nice. As of this year I think we've had what will be our last stay…read more Overcrowding: The campground has added way too many tent sites without adequate parking. The result is 0 parking spots and no space for anyone to comfortably enjoy themselves. The fire pits all blow smoke at each other and the tents fill up with other tent sites fire pit smoke. Noise issues: Want to go to sleep at a reasonable time? Too bad. Two nights in a row a bunch of drunkards were blasting music and having a great time from 9pm until 3am. Don't plan on getting much sleep if it's a busy weekend. Barking dogs, screaming kids, loud music, and noisy people well into the night. Safety concerns: the main small beach near the domes where everyone plays is littered with boulders and sharp rocks in the water. Maybe nothing can be done about that. However open inspecting the rotting wood steps leading to the water I found an actual sharp-to-a-point metal spike sticking straight up out of the wood. Luckily I was able to hammer down with a large rock, however that was an impaled foot or worse waiting to happen. There's lots of exposed rebar and it's generally unsafe. Considering how many kids and drunk adults loiter in that area, it's only a matter of time until someone needs stitches. No wonder they have you sign a liability waiver to be here. Lack of facility maintenance: The door locks on most of the bathrooms don't work. The hot water in the showers is barely functional if at all. The wood ramp to the shipping container showers becomes very slippery when wet and poses a safety hazard. There's a wasp sanctuary under the deck as well. Several adults and children were stung this weekend simply walking up the ramp to the bathrooms. With all the money this place is making is there no time to fix and maintain these things? Last but not least, THE CAMP DOGS: a gentleman came to our group and asked that we put all our dogs on leashes (despite them already being on leashes at the time...) and then allows the "camp dog" which is a large black and white husky to roam freely. This dog is an A**HOLE. It constantly bothers people's camp sites and tries to pick fights with other dogs. Our dogs were personally harassed by this dog when he came to our campsite and started eating our dogs food. Then tried to start a fight with our dogs. Then tried to BITE MY WIFE. I had to chase him off every couple hours both days. This dog should not be allowed off leash however the campground owners don't have enough self awareness to do so. All in all, it's been fun over the last few years, but this place has grown too big for the owners and staff to properly manage. Won't likely be coming here again, and we'll be sure to let everyone know what it's become.
