Came here for lunch during a trip to the Eastern Shore. As with the pandemic, they only offered pickup and social distancing was in place. We ordered the special of the day, which was fried shrimp and clams with fries, hush puppies, slaw (you could also choose from macaroni or potatoe salad), and a drink for $9.95. They have daily specials such as fried fish, oysters and the like. They are crabhouse and sell them steamed and live. They also sell other seafood items fresh such as shrimp, crabmeat, fish, oysters, etc. The young ladies were pleasant and our order did not take long at all. Enroute to OC and decided to use YELP for crab suggestions and this place didn't disappoint! Was immediate greeted when we walked in by the owner, he gave great suggestions on what to purchase as well as offered a special that wasn't advertised! I think he did this because we traveled far but I will take that any day. The crabs were seasoned well, quite meaty for the size, I tried the crab deviled eggs and they didn't disappoint either. Definitely will recommend to anyone traveling to OC area before you get into the higher price places. Great for our money value! read more

I wanted to love this place and have a new crab spot due to the customer service being so exceptional but the quality of the seafood was lacking. Not sure if it was because crabs and fish are out of season or if it was the way it was stored. The steak fish once cooked had an awful ammonia smell so I had to throw it all away. As for the crabs some had either been over cooked or were bad because they had an extremely mealy and pasty texture. Due to this I cannot return I thought about calling them and requesting a refund but I just cut my losses. read more

They called and ask what time I wanted them steamed for pick-up. I replied "steam them now and they will be done by the time I get there" they replied no problem! They have roaches in their flour breading and mice feces around the food. They sell rotten seafood because it's left out and deemed fit for sale. The owner refuses to acknowledge this. They had to hire a cleaning company just to pass an inspection. They have been reported multiple times to the health department. Take a risk and eat here, but I wouldn't. After 5 hours of driving down to Salisbury from NYC, passed a sign on the road advertising muskrat, and intrigued I pulled into the parking lot. Well no muskrat, but a damned good crab cake sandwich (an honest crab cake, lots of sweet crab, not over seasoned, and not mushy), fresh cut french fries, and really fresh homemade cole slaw. The gentleman who helped me (I think it was the owner's son) was not only a congenial host, and knowledgeable about his product, but knew a lot about his region of the Delmarva. The guy in front of me ordered a fried Whiting platter, and when I saw that come out of the fryer I wondered if I ordered the wrong thing it looked delicious. Just like your car, you've got to change the oil in your deep fryer, and I could tell by the smell, and the way the food looked when it came out, that this place keeps up with their oil. Fat Boys is a combination Fish Market, and takeout counter, and it was really clean (Know how you can tell that? The same way you can tell if they're keeping up with the fryer, no unpleasant odor. They had tons of crab meat on ice, and shucked oysters by the jar. The downside (and I say this because I'm a driver) it's a takeout, so nowhere inside to sit down. (They do have picnic tables outside for al fresco fried fish in the warmer weather.) Even so I finished everything except the clamshell container, and the napkins. The young lady who helped me was also really nice, and made sure I had everything I'd need so as not to be a total slob eating in the car. Next time I'm passing through Salisbury, I'll definitely return to Fat Boys for some snacks, and maybe I'll get to try the muskrat. read more

If I could write a review with "0" stars I would. Fat boys is horrible. My family over the last two summers have gotten on average at least one 1/2 bushel a week from this operation. When we went in february it get shrimp, we were lied to about the origin of the shrimp and the owner could not care less of we ever went back - even after we had spend literally thousands in previous summers. We have had bushels where the crabs had bad meat. You can tell this when the crabs smell like cleaning solution and ammonia. When we took them back, the owner said, "oh those crabs are from _____, it's the crabber's fault" and while they did replace them, they knew they were bad because they had been steamed hours before and the REHEATED. This place is horrible but I guess as long as they take food stamps, they will be in business. Unfortunately because they don't deserve to be, their customer service is non-existent. Skipjacks does the same deal, too. Your best bets for crabs is 1 Fish 2 Fish, Chesapeake Treasures (though they can be spotty and often run out of crabs when others don't) and the old Big Apple, now OC Highway Seafood in Pocomoke on Route 13 across from Sysco. read more

This is the second time We have gotten live crabs from here. Ordered a bushel this time and every crab was kicking when they brought them out to us. Price was great. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. I'm never going back. I was well aware of the roaches crawling over the food and the mouse feces but I was nearby and don't know what possess me to go back. I ordered a trout to be filet and they said they charge an extra dollar per pound to filet the fish. To some people that doesn't sound like a lot, but if you buy a 3 pound fish, they charging you 3 extra dollars to clean it. Imagine that, a business charging you extra per pound to clean the fish you purchase. I didn't purchase the fish. I had a horrible experience at Fat Boys tonight. We placed our order for a clam strip basket with fries, 2 crab cake sandwich and French fries specials, and hush puppies. We sat out in the car for 20 minutes to give them time to prepare our meals and then went back inside to pick up the order. There was one girl taking orders and doing the cooking. When we walked in, the girl looked straight at us but did nothing to mention that our food, well part of it, was cooked and sitting in styrofoam on the counter of the kitchen. I stood there for another 25 minutes while other customers were also being ignored by the same girl. There was just one person taking phone orders, counter orders, and cooking and she was not moving in a fast manner in the least. I had noticed a bag of food that sat there since I waked back in the door and was thinking "poor people are going to be eating cold food". Little did I know it was mine! After 45 minutes she finally picked up my bag of now cold and may I add burnt clam strips and crab cakes to tell me that they were out of fries. She also had not even attempted to cook the hush puppies that we ordered. Also standing in there along with me was a woman trying to return her burnt food and two other customers that had been ignored as they were trying to place their orders. As the phone rang, she took orders and ignored all customers in the store. Enough was enough. After locating the manager I asked for my money back. She was pleasant enough and asked it there was something that she could do to make it right. Yes, hire more people! She sent us home with what partial food was prepared and it too was burnt. Where was the owner on a busy Friday night? Certainly not helping in the kitchen! We will Not be going back there ever again! read more
