Got a crabcake platter with fries and two sides. I was looking forward to this since the site re-opened a few months ago and it seemed they were putting a lot of effort into fixing up the place. The total for the platter was $ 17.99. Unfortunately it was possibly the worst take-out meal I've had in some time. The two crabcakes were OK. Nice large lump meat. Size was medium to medium-small. So OK that was fine as far as it goes where the meal self destructed was in the sides and the fries.
The "tater-sauce" was some horrific gluey sweet concoction that has been left out at room temperature for so long the oil was separating out and it was turning that oily translucent yellow you see in old mayo that's been left on the counter for way too long. I took a taste on the off chance it tasted better than it looked. It didn't. It was just cheap mayo, some sugar, a few chopped pickles and nothing else. The two sides of the cole slaw and the mixed greens were passable, but nothing special and were delivered filled up about 2/3rds of the way in these little 4 oz containers. If there were more than 3 oz in each container I would be surprised.
The fries were the capstone. As opposed to the other sides there was a generous portion but they were considerably underdone. The exteriors of the fries were white not tan and they were not fully cooked with the crisp exteriors and cooked interiors you expect from quality fries. Finally, despite my asking for it there was no ketchup in the
bag and it's not like they were busy. I was the only person they were serving and there were three people behind the counter.
The guy behind the counter was friendly and personable, but with regard to delivering a decent take out platter it was strictly amateur hour. You can't screw up fries that badly and know what you are doing. I hope they get better. read more
