It was time to come out of the dark ages and replace our ancient transponders. Yes, this could have been completed through the mail but why not make a day of it. It's city time. Supervisor Brandon made it go well. We received excellent help n service from him this May. I think it's hard to know where to start. You can register you account for a car. Start there and add a credit card or two. Don't wait til end of month. On the last page of the website, you can fill out a request to review; or apply for a payment plan but You can also fill out a dispute if the review is not enough. The company has worked with us to resolve a matter; you should too. Check out website: www.bayareafastrak.org read more

Cleaning it up (looks like I fat fingered it a bit.) Looks like I am just piling on, but anyway. They have an app where you register your rental car, and they charge the toll to your credit card, not to the rental agency. Well, I never saw a change on my card, and the rental company then charged me double (toll + "fee"). I probably did not use the app correctly, but I am reasonably savvy and was given no indication that I had failed to complete the sign-up. I am guessing that entering the license plate was where I ran into trouble. DON'T PUT A SPACE in it. Anyway, poor experience with the online sign-up, and the actual toll signs, with HOV mixed in require a native Bay Area translator to understand. read more

They are updating the actual fastrak cards so the old pucks need to be replaced. You can order them online and they will ship them right to your home. We had a few and did exactly that. They don't give you a return envelope so you would have to pay for the postage or drop them off. I was in SF and stopped by their building to do that. It was Christmas time and they had a tree up . so pretty. The staff here were very friendly. I had no problem dropping off the old pucks. It was simple. Their building is really nice looking with a large conference room on the first floor. There is an info booth right as you enter and they directed me to where the drop off counter was in the back. read more

I mean. How do you review a toll I oppose paying to begin with? I guess by focusing on the actual newest model of the ever evolving Fastrak pass. It's called Flex and maybe the previous version was called this too, I didn't pay attention. Basically, I feel like I've had a version of this my whole adult life bc without it, you will not survive living in the city and owning a vehicle. I guess I'll split the difference on my feelings toward certain taxes and fees and how much I like the new design of this money gobbler... also, it holds such power lol like ... to make my commutes in and out of the city and around the Yay Area more efficient. And to escape those really ridiculous "evasion" fees. Who voted that in? Not I... read more

I have been getting toll notices and toll violations in the mail for various locations in the Bay Area for two months. Their license plate readers are dyslexic and they have been sending bills for the wrong vehicle (there is a Lexus sedan in the photos; I do not own a Lexus). The Customer Service number does not work so I have been disputing charges by filling out an online form, one by one. If they answered the phone, maybe they'd be able to put a note into "my" file stating to check the photos better before sending me invoices and threatening registration holds on my SUV. Short and unsweet, so no 'pros' or 'cons'. read more

If you're traveling in San Francisco and the Bay Area, one definitely needs a fast track reader. It's actually a lot easier just to get one than pay fees on a toll you told yourself you would pay! I'm not sure if this is the main retail store in San Francisco, but I ended up here. The building is extremely clean and secure., upon walking in you are greeted by a doorman. He will direct you to the back of the lobby. There is a desk, man by two people who register you to go upstairs to the office. It's actually quite brilliant as the office is fairly small & on a good day could be extremely packed. The wait was not that long to go upstairs. Once I got there the line moved fast & the tellers were so good at what they do! read more

Why oh why did you design these new transponders so horribly? I can't mount this ugly thing. The other was so much better with the switch as part of the device instead of this ugly, flimsy thing sticking out. Also. It's hard to switch when that number selector is suspended instead of part of the device where you were able to change the number with one hand or even one finger. Now I can't even change it when I'm driving? You do know we pay a lot of money for the vehicles we drive right? Who wants this thing on their window or anywhere in the car? You should've used a focus group of intelligent people. My god it's just so dumb! read more

I had a very frustrating experience with FasTrak. I discovered that my account had been charged duplicate tolls because two toll tags were connected to the same vehicle. Once I realized the issue, I contacted customer service immediately and spent a lot of time trying to resolve it. Although a small portion was refunded, many obvious duplicate charges were denied simply because they were older than 30 days. As a customer, I trusted the system and had no reason to believe I was being charged twice. The process was stressful, time-consuming, and disappointing. I understand policies are important, but there should also be fairness and common sense when handling clear billing errors. I hope FasTrak improves both its system and customer support in the future. read more

They should call it Customer uselessness. There is a reason we try and avoid monopolies in business. FasTrak is a joke. Cut and pasted from their website: "FasTrak is the San Francisco Bay Area's electronic toll collection system that allows you to conveniently pay tolls using a toll tag that is mounted on the interior of your vehicle. FasTrak toll tags are accepted at all Bay Area express lanes and bridges." Quality/Quantity - Every 5 years, I need to come by and exchange my FasTraks. Whoever created this system deserves a raise. No additional cost to drivers (yes we need a credit card in the system), and significantly improves traffic flow. And every 5 years, there is a new improved model. Atmosphere - Need to get through 3 layers of security - Door, lobby greeter (security guard to give you a badge after checking your ID), then the security guard that lets you into the elevator. It felt like I was in a federal building for jury duty or something... Open 6 days a week, 8:30am or 9am to 1pm or 5:30pm; closed Sundays. See picture. Free wifi, see pictures. The lobby wifi and Fastrak office wifi use separate systems. Service - Excellent, good service every time we come. Price - First 3 devices free (with credit card on file), each additional device $5; 5 years ago, each additional device $20. BTW do NOT mail in your old devices, they will NEVER receive it; I lost $20. Cut and pasted from their website after I lost my $20, lol - "We recommend sending toll tags by certified or registered mail." Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1997. A Government Sponsored Scam. If I could rate this company any lower, I would. 1: Restricts access to public roads for those not willing to pay extra (Funded by tax dollars already). 2: Requires a Company Determind Balance to be Maintained at all times (regardless of usage, and only made more expensive with use) which you can NOT control. Before this company, the toll operators didn't require you to pay for a whole month of travel across a bridge before it happend!! They didn't say "wow, I've seen you a lot. You have to pay $80 today because I think you'll be crossing the bridge more frequently". They collect interest on the money they require you to give them for use of a public utility that you may not even use (... they aren't a bank... they are a literal bridge troll). 3: A Company who is allowed to Ticket and effect your DMV Record, as well as your credit score when that has already been made illegal in the case of private parking lots in some cities. read more

Leadership/management are not bright, have trained countless people to not use common sense and have led to countless hours of my time wasted and this negative review. Fastrak is monopoly that gives itself the right to make whatever decision it wants. They have an insane system where they want you to prove someone else is dead to change one minor detail on an account rather than proving the person paying for the account is alive and verify THEIR identity. I have tried for over 5 years to change a deceased office manager's name off our account even though I have been managing the account since even before she passed. I pay for my employees, it's my credit card, my information, my business address, my security question, my pin, my everything. Yet I have to give the deceased employee's name when I call, use her name to login to the account and receive monthly mail in her name. It makes my employees and myself very uncomfortable as it's wildly inappropriate. This company is cruel. And this is why. Their solutions: 1. Provide a death certificate 2. Provide an obituary from the newspaper from her passing 3. Submit a program from her funeral 4. Contact the family for any proof of her passing 5. Contact her power of attorney 6. Close the entire account down and start over. My solution: 1. Verify my identity 2. Remove her name from the account Simple. It's not like a bank account I can withdraw money from. I am paying YOU. So what is this Fastrak? No consideration, no common sense, no integrity. And all you've done is train minions to repeatedly state "I apologize" but not actually help with a reasonable solution. I will not disrespect the family of my deceased employee by doing what you ask. She passed away years ago. All I need is to not receive mail in her name! Or not use her name when I log in! Or not be called her name when I speak to one of your people! IT IS CRUEL! SHAME ON YOU FASTRAK. SHAME ON YOU. read more

Fastrak is such a scam. If you have to travel across any of the bridges here in the Bay Area you are forced to pay them at some point. If you have an account, it adds a level of convenience for tracking and paying tolls; however, the automatically adjusted replenishment and threshold amounts are so scummy. They will increase your replenishment amount without your consent because their logic is, "oh you crossed that bridge a few times, surely you'll be doing that 3 times as much next month" and they preemptively charge you more. It's not a courtesy, it's a shady way for them to get your money before you've even used the service. I don't cross the bridges too often, and yet simply dropping someone off and picking someone up at the airport triggered the increase for me. I even had them accept a service request to lower my replenishment and threshold amounts only for them to increase them again before the next billing. Such a terrible system. read more

My dealer had a change in policy where the customer is now responsible for the tolls accrued when they're in possession of a loaner vehicle. Angela from Bay Area FasTrak was extremely helpful with adding the license plate to my account - she back-dated the license plate for the dealership-provided loaner vehicle to the specific time frame that I had the car. I was able to take care of the tolls that occurred during that time frame. A couple $3 tolls were far better than paying $300 in penalties. Thank you, Angela! You made this easy. read more

Worst company ever. First of all we shouldn't be charged extra money for the roads that our taxes are already paying for and it is f****** ridiculous and classes to have an express lane but then when you have to use an express lane because somebody's running you off the road or traffic is just that bad to where you get pushed over it is outrageous to then be charged $10 for every 50 cent toll. What is up with the violations every single toll includes a 10 to $25 violation when we can't cross a bridge and just pay cash like we used to we don't have options other than to just cross the bridge and be charged double later on read more

Terrible support if you can even get a person on the line. People are rude. Unfortunately, we have to use this horrible service.

This company is all about how much money that they can get out of you. if you owe them. Pay them before penalties start to kick in. I don't hold the company accountable for late payments. That's the customers responsibilities. And I'm an example. However. It's what they do after you get in that situation. I had two forms that were approved by Fastrak's dispute department to pay, without the penalties. That was great. There are a few options. Fax, walk in or mail it to them are the only 3. I'd chose the fax option. According the Fastrak. The fax never arrived. I'd provided a record showing that it was sent. And because of this inconvenience. Fastrak had to resend it, which takes another additionial 7 to 10 business days. For the time being, Fastrak tells me that I owe fees outside of the fees that were faxed for payment. I'd asked the lady, how much. I was told that I owe 179.00 dollars, and it's possible that some of the fees might be sent to the DMV where they'll be added, preventing me from getting my tags and regristation, until I pay it. Accoring to her. So far so good. Meaning. I have time to pay those fees. The fees were 179.00. I was told this two days ago. Today. I call back to make sure that what I owe is correct. I'm told by another person who I'd spoken to back in early November, that today I owe only 159.00. I was puzzled to why the fees dropped down to 20 bucks. Long story short. There was something within the system with some late fees that added uo to 179.00. However. He'd told me that if I added the 179.00 to my account. It would exclude the penalty fees. I'd done what he'd suggested. But something told me to listen to my gut and call back, because I have a feeling that I'm being played again. I'd called back and to my suprised, connected to the lady who told me that I'd owed 179.00 two days ago. Well that changed. I was able to get a dispute form since the fax that never arrived. But when she'd brought up another fee of $220.00. I was under the impression, the way that she'd presented it to me was. It was from the previous dispute form. Nope! It was from the 179.00 dollars. I'd asked her. What changed? Because the person who I'd spoken to told me that all was fine and based on the records that she'd had in the system that he was reading back. Her reply? The fees went up because of the time line was passed due. That didn't make any sense. Further stating, she had that 220.00 now part of the same dispute department. But here's the crazy part. Those fees, as she's stated, weren't turned in to the DMV. It's what I owe outside of the DMV. Wtf? So I'd asked. if that is the case. Then why wasn't the 179.00 that I'd added to my online account, was used to pay that? Her reply, was because it's now in a different department. But, they're not part of the DMV registration hold. It was at that point, I'd peeped the b.s. from her and Fastrak. See below. What I owe fastrak is a total of 800 plus dollars that were prorated after the penalty fees were taken out. The 220.00 is a scam game that they'd played. In simple terms. I actually owed 179.00 from the account outside what I owe to get my registration back. But Fastrak lied and said that I now owe 220.00 that was part of the new second of the two forms sent out. She'd gave herself away, when she'd told me that it's not part of the DMV registration hold. If it were. It would go to that department and reflected. Basically. Fastrak or her, had created/fabricated this, in order to get more money out of me. Which is a shame. So the money that I'd paid to my account. I'm only getting 80 percent of that back and the rest won't be used to pay on the 220.00. I can only get all of it back, which will take 30 days. Only if I close my account. I'm not closing my account, because I will still need it. Most of those tolls were due to doing rideshare. So that will prevent this from happening again. That being said. Pay your tolls on time, or they'll run game on you and get more money from you. I hope that this long winded post can help someone or people. read more

SCAM ALERT!!! Received a surprise in the mail: A "Bridge Toll Invoice" from FrasTrak in San Francisco! Here's the problem: I was nowhere near San Francisco on the date indicated on the Invoice, nor have I traveled anywhere since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020! To add to the craziness: The photo of the vehicle in question was a totally different make, model, & colour of any of my vehicles! Apparently, there are individuals stealing others' license plate numbers, & using a printed version of these numbers on their own vehicles as they cross toll bridges/roads without paying. And...guess what?! The unsuspecting legitimate owners of the vehicles & license plates in question receive the "Bridge Toll Invoices!" SURPRISE!!!!! Unfortunately it does not appear any policies are in-place yet, but hopefully, FasTrak will begin to take some appropriate actions to verify that the license plate numbers displayed on non-paying vehicles crossing the toll bridges/roads actually correspond to the legitimate makes, models, colours, & license plate numbers of the vehicles in question to help insure that these types of incidents do not continue to occur in the future. Everyone: Please stay vigilant, & be careful! read more

This is for the fastrak customer service, not the use of the fasttrak itself. Got it for work, six weeks later I noticed a charge on my card but I never got any statement. I set it up with them literally, on the phone, that I'd get a statement sent every month to my email but nothing came and if I hadn't seen it on an expense report, I wouldn't have known they charged my credit card. I got a guy named "Xavyer" in chat who tried to claim because I started six weeks ago I'm a new customer and are not available for statements yet which is a clear cut lie. I set up my account for statements and it even has a "how do you want your statements delivered to you" option but he stuck to that lie until I repeatedly told him that won't fly for someone who's been with them well over a month. Then he tried to change it to "'sometimes there's a glitch in the system and they don't get sent out." So which is it? Six weeks isn't long enough to get a statement for a charge you took off my credit card two weeks ago or there's a glitch. The he starts copying and pasting stuff that has literally zero to do with our conversation about how Fastrak works, I'm not sure if that was so I'd go away or what he thought that would do but I kept pressing him about which reason is the reason why I'm not getting statements but it was seriously shady and unprofessional. Did he honestly think that would have some sort of effect? Then he just kept repeating "is there anything else I can help you with today?" So he was very proud of his douchiness - when they don't give you a legit answer, they'll just keep repeating "is there anything else I can help you with" as their only response. This is the Comcast way of performing "customer service," not the normal way. I'm still trying to find out how to get a statement, I did an "contact" on their website and it says it takes five days to respond. All I want to know is when do I get a statement like I signed up for? I've been trying to find out who in upper management to ask. read more
