They sometimes have varieties that aren't in the big box stores. Today was no exception. I selected some rare succulents and proceeded to the outdoor checkstand to pay. That is where things went downhill. This usually open checkstand had a note stating it was closed and to pay inside. So back inside I went. After a short wait I approached the check stand and after the young man rang my purchases he handed me the receipt. I said well I need to pay you. And as I unzipped my RFID-shielded wallet to obtain my debit card the young male cashier said, "oh it already took your payment" (and he pointed to the "tap here" feature on the credit/debit card machine on the counter). I was flabbergasted! So after looking at the receipt I saw that the machine had charged a credit card that was located several cards deep inside my wallet in my crossbody bag that I was wearing at the time. I asked him to refund that and place the items on a debit card instead. Wow. After a brief discussion, both he and his "Lead" admitted that machine is super sensitive so my recommendations are to the consumer be careful when shopping here, and to ACE replace the machine or post a warning to customers. Lastly, the attitude of the Lead was a bit condescending - loud, and restating the obvious. And the cashier was aloof - detached and not listening.

The Davis and Woodland Ace Hardware did not have any, nor did the Woodland Home Depot. Who knew that the Dixon Ace Hardware would carry them and have them in stock. They set one aside for us and we immediately made the trip to Dixon. The capacitor was waiting for us and the sales person mentioned that they are the only ones in the area that carry items like that. We wandered about the store a bit, it's larger than the Davis Ace. My husband was also looking for a specific drip irrigation plug but they didn't have it in stock. Two sales members helped us look for the item and then they explained that the store will be doing a major re-do in October so they are starting to reduce inventory and the plug seemed to be one of the current reductions. Even so, the store was orderly and well stocked with other items. Our $40 purchase in hand, my husband installed it once we got home, saving probably hundreds of dollars if we had called a HVAC company to diagnose the problem and replace the capacitor. They didn't have any small sizes, but I figured I could make a medium work since I didn't wanna go home empty-handed. Over the years, I misplaced all of my stuff from my college days, so I jumped at the opportunity to find a replacement while on my way to Sac for the weekend. The store doesn't offer posters of the university or of anything really, except the egghead sculptures. No thanks. They do offer plenty of gifts and accessories though, including a collection of UCD sanrio products. Being on campus, of course they sell electronics as well as textbooks downstairs. When making my purchase, the staff ran into technical issues at the front counter, but they eventually found a resolution without too much of a delay. Parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays.

I selected Davis, and what could have been the start of a great relationship with a local business quickly became a disappointment due to their disinterest in helping resolve a Leslie's end error. Unfortunately the staff and the district manager made it very apparent they could not be bothered with me and tried to pass the buck for the Leslie's error telling me to call Uber, who of course insisted it was a Leslie's error. Uber thankfully told me to call Leslie's Corporate although I had to find that number on my own. Leslie's Corporate confirmed I entered the correct delivery address as screenshots and an invoice show (and as I had explained) and is working to resolve the problem and get me my apparently no longer arriving same day product... Even sending me to Leslie's corporate and a general knowledge of what was going on and some empathy from the local staff could have resolved the issue that morning instead of in the afternoon after a day spent chasing around a $1600 item, mostly for the benefit of Leslie's or Uber; one of whom was going to have to eat the cost with AMEX if they didn't get it back. Regardless of whose fault it was I will not be visiting Leslie's in Davis or getting a quote for pool service from them. I want to work with businesses that go out of their way to help customers, especially when the error is due to their brand.

We have a Polaris Robotic Sweeper that stopped working wile under warranty. It was purchased at…read moreLeslie's in Vacaville. We attempted to have it serviced at the Vacaville location but the manager was short with us and would not allow us to leave it to be serviced. We contacted Leslie's main office and they suggest we try their store in Davis. We drove to Davis and spoke with the store manager, Paula. Paula was great! She took the time to listen about the sweeper and how it wasn't operating. Paula explained that 1) they would be more than happy to take the sweeper and repair it. 2) Paula also let us know that Polaris is backlogged and slow shipping parts out. 3) Paula said she our keep us updated on the sweeper. Paula called us weekly to update us on what was actually wrong with the sweeper and that the parts had been ordered. Approximately 3 weeks later Paula called and said the motor has been replaced, they also wanted to replace the cord but that had not come in yet. Paula said if wanted to pick up the sweeper we could and they would notify us when the cord came in. We picked up the sweeper and approximately a week later Paula called us again. This time she said the sweeper cord still hadn't came in BUT we were getting a new sweeper to replace the one that was under warranty. I can't say enough good things about Paula and the Davis, Leslie's Pool Supply. I have no doubt that Paula's tenacity and Pierre's, the District Manager's concern for taking care of customers was what led to this positive outcome. We definitely would say that if you live in Vacaville it s we'll worth the drive to Leslie's in Davis. We will be spending our money at Leslie's in Davis. We even brought Paula a present for her great customer service.
