Oh my, there are some crazy reviews here, which are shocking to me. Here's my feedback on this Fastfix in the Montclair plaza..
Work I have given them: I have been going to this Fastfix for about 5 years now for countless services. My first visit in 2008 to Fastfix was to take all of my pearls (bracelets and necklaces) that needed restringing (the right way with knots in between each pearl) and rings that needed re-sizing. I have thousands of dollars in pearls with real diamonds and yellow and white gold hardware. My husband and I have taken multiple watches to them for battery replacement. I do not have pierced ears, so I have taken pierced gold earrings to them to replace with clip-ons. My husband took a $3,500 men's large link 18K bracelet to them to shorten the security chain that was dangling down and getting caught on things. I have referred my neighbor to them to fix her husband's cuff-links.
Service Provided: John D and his staff are honest and friendly. I have never felt over-charged by them either. The restringing of my many pearl bracelets and necklace and re-sizing of a few gold and diamond rings cost me about $350. I went in one day to get a couple of links removed from a new watch I purchased somewhere else, and they did it in 2 minutes for FREE. All of the work they have provided over the years has been impeccable and all of my diamonds are always returned intact. I have no desire to leave my jewels with someone working in some kiosk that might be out of business tomorrow. Fastfix is not going anywhere....they are a reputable business that is here to stay, and there is comfort in that. Do they occasionally try to sell me a watch? Sure - but they are in the business of fixing and selling jewelry, so why would that be a shock to anyone? My experience is that I get what I pay for...that while the price may not be dirt cheap, the level of expertise and integrity is worth every penny. I trust John D with my jewelry 100% And as for rudeness reported by some people, I am shocked there again, because ALL of the guys in that store are so friendly. My husband and I always pop in to say hi to them whenever we walk by in the mall, because they are like the neighborhood friendly business that has been around for a long time and is always so happy to see you. They're almost like family...I joke to them when I bring something in..."is that the family price?"
Bottom Line: If I ever had an issue with their quality of service or customer service, I feel that John D (the owner) would be more than reasonable in turning the experience around. My husband and I will continue to frequent this read more
