Craig was referred to me by my dad. He did his taxes for a number of years and I needed to find a new accountant for 2014. He took me in and said he would do my taxes. By April 2015 we haven't heard anything back from him and couldn't get a hold of him. Craig stopped picking up his phone. Both mine and my dads taxes were not done yet. My dad started going to his business personally to talk to him. My dad was told that my taxes were extended. Craig said that any late fees would be paid by him. Finally by July my wife and I were done messing with Craig and picked up our taxes to find a real CPA. Come to find out that my taxes were not filed for an extension and late fees did occur!!! We didn't even bother trying to squeeze any cash out of him. This guy is a joke and cannot be in business for much longer, for health reasons or just plain poor business practices. Please do yourself a favor and find a more reliable accountant. read more

Craig has been doing my taxes for over 13 years and there is a reason he's been doing it that long.... He knows what he's doing, and he does it well. His prices are fair, and his work is fast and complete. I haven't gotten audited yet, so he must be doing something right!!! I highly recommend Craig if you are looking for a new accountant for taxes, and even general bookkeeping for your business. I just read some of the other reviews, and yes he has had health problems that have caused delays in the past, but I have never needed an extension, my return is highly complex, multiple properties, rentals, businesses, stocks, interest, income from all over the place. And this year is already filed and the money is in the bank weeks ago. He did raise his prices this year but in all honesty, they were too low for too long so ride is over. read more

Avoid by all means!! This guy doesn't have his mind and shouldn't be working anymore. He is a liar, he said that he filed my tax return while he didn't. He told me 3 months before the due date that he will take care of my taxes. He told me that I should receive also a package my mail. After weeks nothing received, called and left messages many times with NO replies. Then, I started to be nervous, checked the IRS website to see if there was a way to find out, that was 2 days before the due date and I was chocked to see he never did. I called him and left messages. He replied after my 10th attempt, on July 15th !!! ( due date ) He said he will take care of it and invented an excuse for not doing it. Since I sent him already all the documents and he did file for our taxes the last couple years, I let him. It was 10 am he said it will be ready by noon. Noon: I get a call, he is not able to open up the files, asked for a PDF format. I sent. He said it should be e-filed by 4pm. I call him by 4pm, he said : if you call me when I am working I won't be able to finish my work! I Reminded him that my taxes should have been done a while ago when I asked him to. He said that he was sorry and that he should be able to file shortly . 6pm after couple of calls he finally answers and says right away : it is done, I just filed! Great! I said, can I get a confirmation number ? He said no you can't, you have my words. I said well this is what you told me few weeks back when you told me you have filed, then I add that this situation has been very stressful for nothing .. then he screams at me as soon as I said this: do you know what's real stress??? Do you know ?? I couldn't even reply. I was so chocked!! I hung up. So unprofessional, and so weird. Liar! I told him many times before that if he couldn't file for 2019, then he just tells me and I would go somewhere else. Horrible experience . The last 2 years were ok , filed on time although I had to leave him more than one message.. but this year! Boy! Avoid by all means So after the screaming, and as I was thinking that he filed, he ended up sending me an email 3 hours before midnight, saying that he is refusing to take care of my taxes, that he still weren't able to open a file and that I should file for an extension . It was 9pm on July 15th, this is on tax day. The guy just told me few hours before that he FILED , taxes that were supposed to be filed weeks before.. WOW Unbelievable! I checked the IRS portal to found out he never did. Thanks god there is TurboTax. I had to file for an extension. Crazy!! Mr Fassio, if you can't act professionally and handle your job, retire or stop it but don't blame your clients for YOUR MISTAKES and for your disorganization. I felt he never really tried to get a full tax return for me. I tried to be a loyal return customer, but he didn't even look at my tax docs for TWO weeks. Then he got mad when I called him for the THIRD time trying to get some info on when he perhaps maybe would get started! I would NEVER recommend this jerk. Craig was my accountant for 15 yrs, I gave him many new clients. The past 2 years I think he's gone nutso. One friend told me she gave him her tax info in March and he filed an extension WITHOUT TELLING HER. She found out after several emails and phone calls to his office, and it cost her dearly. This year he seems to be pulling the same thing. Meanwhile, he literally lost it on me yesterday. He's become defensive. Craig has been doing my taxes as well as family members taxes for over 10 years. Some of my family lives outside of the Bay Area and still used his services. We were all very happy with Craig until NOW!! He has some health issues and has had to be hospitalized a few times recently which is unfortunate. But he continues to work . Over the past 6 months I have received several letters from the IRS for 2012 taxes that Craig prepared. I brought all letters to Craig's office and he told me he would handle it. Then I find out that my sister is receiving letters from the IRS too and that Craig had totally forgotten to submit her previous year taxes. She said that he would not return her calls and she was going to have to get an attorney. I started calling Craig and he would not return my calls. Yesterday I went to his office with the latest IRS letter and Craig was immediately defensive and rude. He told me that one of his clients had come in the day before and he KICKED her out the office because she didn't have an appointment and she returned today with the POLICE!! (weird story) But this story made sense to me after my visit. He acted as if he knew nothing about theI RS letters and our conversations and could not find the letters or other paperwork. He finally conceded that I had brought the letters to him but it just didn't get done and he would not be able deal with it till after tax season because he's too busy. When I persisted that this problem should be taken care of and not be put off any longer he started SCREAMING "IM TIRED OF YOU -GET OUT OF MY OFFICE" HE CALLED ME A SMART ASS AND SAID REPEATEDLY THAT I WASNT WORKING AND HAD NOTHING TO DO AND HE WAS SO BUSY!!!! HE WAS STILL YELLING AND I COULD HEAR HIM INSULTING ME AS I WALKED DOWN THE STAIRS. THIS WAS THE MOST BIZARRE REACTION I HAVE EVER SEEN. I CAN NOW SEE WHY SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TO POLICE ACCOMPANY THEM TO HIS OFFICE. BEWARE !!!!!!!! TO ANYONE THAT USES HIS SERVICES - REALLY REALLY SCARY. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN HIS OFFICE AGAIN. I'm not sure what all the complaining is about, but I've been going to Craig for the last 4-5 years now and he's been nothing but outstanding!! If you're looking for someone to cut corners and to claim items which you may not have proof for - this is not the person you want!! Been there, done that, not doing that again as I just recently got done paying for back taxes after the IRS came after me for doing this. Craig knows the laws - he knows what's going on and that's more important!! His office is always accommodating. Craig is very organized!! The packet you get after your taxes have been submitted are clear and understandable. When I saw these negative posts, I had to submit a review because I was completely surprised!! Craig has been doing my taxes since I moved to Alameda 11 years ago. He's fair, honest and accurate. My returns are always filed on time. There have been a couple of instances where I was late or down to the wire and he either got them done just in time or told me honestly that an extension would need to be filed. I have been seeing Craig for over 15 years, had 1 IRS audit which he personally handled with me. I always get generous returns and on time. Sometimes he is tough to reach but so are most CPAs during tax season. I know he becomes overwhelmed at times and I believe those who had a bad experience. His health issues and stress probably contributed but he really means well. He should probably reduce client load or turn business away rather than make empty promises. On the otherhand I will contine to see him and hope for the best. It is just me so my taxes are simple...1 house no investments. Guess its less complicated and less time consuming. read more
