Each standing table also had an empty tray to discard shells. Ample supplies were on hand - shuckers, gloves, paper towels, hot sauces, cocktail sauce, and saltines. Beverages were available for purchase - a selection of ciders and wine, soft drinks and bottled water. Many of their regular menu options are not served in the winter, but we find that to be a good reason to go back during peak season. All service was self service - walk up to the bar or walk over to find any oyster shucking supplies you may need. Souvenir glasses were also available. The staff who checked us in on arrival were kind enough to suggest we take those after our feast to avoid having to keep track of a pint glass while focused on our oyster shucking. A couple of fire pit spots were available and there were picnic tables under a covered shelter set up in the event that inclement weather moved in. It is truly a Windy hill - it's always windy when we are here and this event was no different. Live music was on hand - a solo artist with guitar whose name I didn't catch, but he was very talented and did a great job. He played mostly cover music from under the covered shelter area. Parking does involve a walk if you're not one of the very first to arrive. That walk is down a gravel path a little ways up the hill and not a great fit for wheel chairs or those who with mobility challenges. It would not be hard to drop someone off though near the front, then go park down the street and around the corner.

I'd been two years since my first visit and my last review so time for an update…read more It was Black Friday and I joined a group of 16 friends, mostly from Gaston County. We had a 1030a time, good thing I called ahead, there was a one hour frost delay. There were carts and guys waiting all round the #1 tee box and there was no started in sight. I walked in the ProShop, there were 2 guys standing there and I asked one guy was there a starter. He turned to the other guy and he said year, I'm the starter, what can I do for you? I just turned around and walked out. It was stacked up and backed up all 18 holes. It was about 49 degrees and the wind was gusting to 30 mph, then the sun went behind the clouds...brrrr. I will say they have made a lot of improvements from 2 years ago and the greens were in really good shape. They have cleaned up the dust from the clubhouse. For food options, there are hot dogs but they stock a full liquor selection. I had a rain check from my first visit which was a really bad experience. The guy looked at it and said 'this ain't no good'. I said why not, he said it's expired. There was no expiration date on it and when It was issued, I asked if it expired and I was told it did not expire. So much for customer service and building good will.

The play here was incredible. The kids in it were so good at acting and singing. The theater area was really good. The building itself is worth walking around and just marveling at how old it is. This building was originally built during the civil war. Its hard to imagine that you had large armies of Calvary riding past this old building 150 years ago, and now you're sitting there watching a play. Not entirely true because the building did burn and was rebuilt. BUT, still one of the coolest things around. They also have concerts here. I picked up a schedule and they have some good sounding stuff coming up over the next few months. Highly recommend a trip out here.

They kids had all kinds of dirty and hay all in their socks and in their hair. The lady who said she was the manager was rude and unprofessional. Talk like she was talking to someone on the streets.
