My review isn't about the outcome of my child passing or failing but to provide feedback on the…read morecustomer service at the driving test appointment. The driving instructor experience was fine and I believe my daughter had a positive experience. I was grateful that they offered to pick her up at home and drop her off at school. The instructor was great to work with and was very flexible on scheduling. However, the customer service at the driving test could really use improvement. If we had to do it again, the dmv would have been the better option. Here are my improvement recommendations for a better experience at the driving test. Greeting: Don't do: How old are you? Do: Hi student great to see you, are you excited to finally get to the final step of getting your license? Is your parent with you? Process - before the driving test: Don't do: Make your client wait while you wrap up a call with an employee. (This wasn't a show stopper but have a feeling if we were late, we would have been reprimanded so when a client shows up on time, don't make them wait.) Do: Provide a simple explanation of the process including the purpose of the verbal questions that were already covered/passed on the written portion. In the explanation include that the questions aren't being graded and are being asked only to help when they go out to drive. This will help the student relax and not be so nervous. Do: Slow down asking these questions. Remember the student is nervous and even though these questions have been asked over and over again by the owner, the student is hearing them for the first time or it's been awhile. Don't Do: If a student answers these verbal questions incorrectly, work on the shaming facial expression of "are you stupid, we taught you this" and don't talk down to the student. They already feel bad they missed the question and they think it's being scored against them. Miscellaneous Don't Do: Try to prove the paying customer wrong. Don't let ego ruin the potential for a good customer service experience. Process - After the driving test: Don't Do: Skip the hug - it's not very professional and a lot of folks aren't comfortable hugging a stranger. Do: A professional congratulatory handshake would be much preferred and more business professional. Do: Include in the email with the certificate a "thank you for using A-1 Driving School. We know there are several options and we appreciate you choosing us for such an important milestone in your child's life" On our way out, I asked my child if she thought the experience was condescending. She said yes, but that was the way we were talked to throughout the 8 hour classroom session, so I was used to it. Up until the driving test, I had been giving glowing reviews to other parents looking for a driving school. I only wish the last step could have been a positive one.

The teacher laughed at students whose parents had paid for more than the minimum amount of driving hours. That really should have been our clue to leave. While in the car with my child, he yelled constantly, grabbed the wheel repeatedly, berated them for having little experience behind the wheel, and spent the majority of his time on his cellphone. They came home after one driving lesson (which he showed up for 1/2 hour late and then brought our child home after 1/2 hour, the agreed upon time was one hour) in tears. We called to tell the instructor we were cancelling. We've since signed them up with a different school.

Do NOT Waste your money here!! I promise I NEVER write reviews, but I spent a lot of money for my…read morechild to get driving lessons with Ed, and I feel so scammed. She got her permit prior to taking the 8hour class and that went great! But when it came to trying to schedule the 6 hours of behind the wheel to prepare for the road test, that was a disaster! Every time we tried to schedule a time he has canceled on us last minute on 4 separate occasions! Then he finally scheduled one behind the wheel session (for a hour and my daughter told us that she ran around running errands for him!) after that lesson, he told us she needed to work on driving with us (parents) more. I was ok with this and did just that. But then when my child was ready to practice with him, he dodged all my calls and text messages. He finally answered my call one day and gave a bunch of excuses that he has been busy with other students and family stuff. I get that BUT to have a business like this you need to be more organized with your schedule and time. I paid the $385 like everyone else and expect the same curtesy of being provided the same service as everyone else. He finally scheduled for a weekend class and of course again he canceled and didn't return my calls. I had to get my husband to call from another number just so he would answer. He gave my husband a bunch of excuses as well! Needless to say, my child has not gotten to get the training I PAID for, and let's be honest, $385 is a lot of money, that I now have to pay someone else to do this service so she can take her test. Please don't support this man and his business, or at least make sure you keep track of any messages back and forth on dates scheduled for your child and him dismissing you, in case you need to take this matter higher up. For some it may seem dumb to take something like this to court or report him, but these are our kids he is training to drive out in the streets. If he didn't care about mine I'm sure there are others he has treated the same way.

I would not recommend NC Professional Driving School. Sammy did not show up for my son's first…read morebehind the wheel lesson. The morning of he texted me saying he would be a few minutes late. We waited for 45 minutes and he was a no show. The second lesson he changed the time of our scheduled appointment after I texted him to confirm the time on the day of the appoinment. This happened again on my son's second behind the wheel lesson. He changed the time and then was 15 minutes late. He had another student in the car for my son's second lesson and my son's second lesson was driving this other student in the car from Huntersville to Mathews to the student's home. My son said he was not comfortable with the way Sammy spoke to him, more yelling not teaching. My son also informed me that Sammy would be on his phone and texting during lessons! I believe this because day of 3rd behind the wheel I was texting with Sammy and then called him and he answered while driving in the car with a student giving a lesson. I know because after speaking with me for a couple of minutes and me expressing that I was unhappy with his services he told me he was giving a lesson and had to "pay attention" to his student driver. I chose this school based on reviews and that they had a self-paced online teen course. I would highly reconsider using this school for the driver's ed teen education . They are unreliable and do not communicate well. Please take the time to read all reviews and do not make the same mistake I did. Sammy apologized for the way he spoke to me and explained he was having a bad day and has students all over Charlotte. If I am paying a premium of $428.00 I expect the owner to be professional and not make excuses for his disrespectful behavior nor his lack of being able to schedule appointments correctly. He does not respect other people's schedules or time nor does he model safe driving by texting and speaking on the phone during lessons. The lack of respect for my time, the lack of safety while driving and the way he spoke to me were only part of this very unpleasant experience.
