Dr. Bashiri has performed two gum grafts on me. Both turned out great. Dr. Bashiri is a very nice guy. He calls you afterward to check up on you and sends you a card, as some of the other reviews have mentioned. My mouth healed pretty rapidly, so I think he does a great job. Everyone working in the office is friendly and they make the unpleasant experience of the surgery more tolerable. The most pain you feel during the procedure is the anesthetic shots. Afterward you're a little sore for a few days. The whole thing really isn't extremely painful, so try not to worry so much about undergoing the procedure if you get a graft from Dr. Bashiri. read more

Periodontal surgery is not the most pleasant way to spend a morning in the dental chair, but given the circumstances, Dr. Bashiri and his marvelous staff make the best of the situation -- they all work together well as a team, they are compassionate and they communicate well, and you go away feeling well-treated. He himself is gorgeous, if you can just focus on that while the anesthetic kicks in. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Bashiri and his staff. They do some pretty elaborate surgeries, implants and gum surgeries, and yet try to be as compassionate as possible. I have had other doctors see his work on my mouth and including my UCSF doctors who think his surgery was perfect. This work is not inexpensive. You have to be prepared that lots of this specialized work is pricey regardless of where you go. Insurance only pays for so much. A lot of it is paid by you, the patient. read more

I have never written a bad review until now. I came in for two tooth implants with gum issues, both in the same quadrant. He fixed one Delta pays by the quadrant so both teeth should have been flapped for that price. When I came in for my follow up, he had gone to a meeting? Bashiri wanted me to wait until the new year so insurance would pay for the other tooth and I did wait for a couple of months but I was worried about bone loss and said I'd pay for it. He wanted to charge me another $1200 even though he knew it would come straight out of my pocket. I went to Dr. McDonald, an angel in my opinion, and he immediately irrigated it himself but unfortunately it' was not enough. I had bone loss from the long wait and Dr. McDonald did a bone graft.. As a follow up - we went to court over this. He sent his office manager and she actually lied under oath saying that the second problem was discovered after the first was fixed. If that were the case, his actions would have been more reasonable but this was no 'mistake' on Bashiri's part. I went specifically for the tooth supporting a bridge that he did NOT fix. It's hard for people to wrap their head around a dentist with so little integrity. Don't think even the judge understood completely but we'll see - still waiting for the verdict. read more

Let me qualify the rest of this by saying that the staff was friendly and polite and had excellent bedside manners after a particularly painful procedure. Following the procedure I was given special brushes to use in between teeth where the gum had been worked on. After using them for a couple of days I realized the area could be kept clean with floss instead. And since I was flossing the rest of my teeth anyway, it seemed easier to just stick with that and not use the brushes. When I went back later for a followup I was informed the brushes weren't just for cleaning, they were meant to discourage the gum from growing back incorrectly. I wish they would have told me that. Had I known the brushes were necessary to prevent gum migration I would have been using them. They chided me for not using the brushes, and I kept thinking that I wish they had told me why they were needed. The attitude felt a little disrespectful. On the plus side, I really appreciated his call the night of my procedure just to check in and make sure I was OK. Also, I asked many questions about my procedure and received many clear and concise responses, though I felt at times as if he was bemused by my wanting to know more. As far as I can tell the quality of dental work was good... possibly even great, though the brush incident nearly derailed the whole thing. My two suggestions: first, start using checklists to make sure your patients understand all the aspects of the recovery process. Second, please exercise some humility and don't admonish your patients. We need a professional who will explain things in a clinical and dispassionate way. read more

I have to admit - yes, I was scared to go in for a gum graft as well as pocket reduction procedures. However, Dr. Bashiri and his associates are a bright star in the world of dental care. Learning to trust someone you have never met who is giving you anesthesia and then doing a deep procedure is never easy, but Dr. Bashiri and his co-workers inspire confidence which is then followed up by competence. I was so surprised to receive a phone call in the evening from Dr. Bashiri following up, unsolicited, to see how I was doing. I also received cards from the office, sent to wish me a speedy recovery. This level of caring is notable in this day and age and appreciated. I have been completely impressed with the care I have received from Dr. Bashiri and his team and recommend them highly! read more

I recently had gum surgery with Dr. Bashiri. Interestingly I had the same procedure about a decade ago. I can tell you Dr. Bashiri was superior in every way. His office worked smoothly keeping me posted on how well (or poorly) my insurance was working. Sidebar, insurance caps have not kept up with inflation. He has an excellent bedside manner. I am no expert, just the patient, but it would appear the work was done better. I had no bleeding which could say something about how nicely he stitches and also a nice use of a high tech bandage that may not have been available during my prior surgery. Finally, and I am not sure why this would be but there appears to be less pain. You may wonder how I can make an inter-temporal statement when I really can't re-experience the past. Let me say this: I don't have any pain and I didn't take pain killers. I was numb during the procedure and I had my eyes close and I listened to music. I think I would have recalled a lack of pain from the past. Maybe I was lucky, maybe he just knows how to cut without going too deep or maybe its me, but it was not painful. read more

Dr. Bashiri is a wonderful surgeon. My dentist referred me to him for a gum graft. I was very anxious about the whole thing not knowing what I am getting into. He took his time explaining what grafts are, showing me pictures and explaining to me how the surgery was done and what i had to expect. He also offered several alternatives (even those not done by him). I decided to proceed with the gum graft. The procedure went great. His staff was caring and friendly and I felt much more at ease when he called me that evening to make sure I was all right. Dr. Bashiri is terrific. Like many, I dread the dental chair. He is patient, kind and caring. There was discomfort with the Novocaine shots (I'm a wimp) but throughout the procedure he was checking on my comfort level. I recommend Dr. Bashiri highly - 5+ stars and I also recommend Dr. Seymour Kurtz for recommending Dr. Bashiri. What's the world coming to when you have dentists who really take care of you! I've NEVER received a "get well" card from a doctor and that was a wonderful surprise. read more

I had three gum surgeries needed and unfortunately after two with Dr Farrokh, there is no way I will use them again. It was downright painful working with Katrina. She missed emails I sent pertaining to the surgery time and follow-up checkups, where I actually had to follow up with her myself to get things accomplished. Her general communication, both email and verbal, is short, sharp and aggressive, with a consistent lack of common curtesy. But I think my favorite interaction was when she confirmed a follow-up (1/13/17), so I scheduled my busy day around this confirmation, then she called me literally the day before, told me I needed to change it, and when I replied I had scheduled my day around her confirmation, she got angry, implied I was out of line and said "Well I guess the other patient in surgery can just sit and wait while the Dr attends to you". In fact, she didn't even thank me when I did reorganize my schedule or greet me when I entered the office. A perfect mix of anger and insecurity - leading the customer service for your next painful dental surgery. read more

I had previous gum surgery years ago and my care from Dr. Bashiri and his staff was excellent. He called that evening to check on me and later even sent a get well card. He did my dental implant in 2013 with the same type of care. He has a calm nature/caring bedside manner. I recently had a crown lengthening and received the same type of friendly, professional care from his staff as from him. I like how he explains what he is going to do to you before he actually does it so there are no surprises. True to his regard for his patients, he called that evening to check on me and encouraged me to call if there were any issues or concerns. Again, a get well card was sent. I've already recommended a friend of mine who needs a dental implant procedure. I was comfortable and confident in returning for my recent procedure knowing Dr. Bashiri's expertise and professionalism. read more

Implants are no fun, but I have to say, my year long relationship with Dr. Bashiri was much better than I expected. He is extremely capable, professional, compassionate, fast, and for a periodontist, entertaining! I totally recommend this fellow if you have to go through this ordeal. Quite a few years ago, my regular dentist, who I saw regularly, told me I had gum problems and referred me to a periodontist. Unfortunately, my regular dentist didn't tell me this until it was too late. I wound up losing four lower teeth due to gum disease. At this point, I realized my dentist had NOT been paying attention to my overall oral health. Yes, he could do fillings but apparently that was about all he could or would do. So, when he recommended a periodontist, I decided I would be finding a new dentist because this guy had let me down. I also decided to find my own periodontist, and I found Dr. Bashiri. I would say I got very lucky because Dr. Bashiri performed upper and lower gum surgery that permitted me to save the rest of my teeth. He was a wonderfully skilled oral surgeon, and just as importantly, I could tell that this wasn't just a job for him. He cared. I have continued getting annual checkups. Also, if he sees any issue that my regular dentist should check out, he sends notes to my dentist and makes sure I'm taken care of. I think Dr. Bashiri is terrific and I highly recommend him. read more
