CONSULTATION Honestly wasn't sure if I wanted to do it in multiple procedures or just get it all over with... I went in open minded. The consultation itself was quick & thorough. Watched about a 10 min vid on pros and cons of wisdom tooth extraction, had X-rays taken, and then met with Dr. Reed Rayher and the team. Dr. Rayher was super chill and easy to talk to. He made a few recommendations, answered my questions. I felt comfortable enough to say, "Just knock me out and do everything at once." He also talked to me about using a healing treatment made from my own blood (I have absolutely no idea what the technical name is, so don't quote me ), but it's placed into the extraction sites to help promote healing. My response? "Fk yeah." Anything to recover faster. Now... the one major hiccup. I had planned everything around this surgery.. time off work, my ride, meal prepped, prescription picked up, and even started the required antibiotics and diazepam before the procedure. Then, about three hours before my appointment, I got the call that it had to be canceled because Dr. Rayher was sick. I was fuming. I worked up all the nerves for the procedure just for it to not work out. I definitely cussed up a storm on the phone w/ nurse/clinician. While apologizing for my foul language because I knew it wasn't their fault. Just really an unfortunate situation. Despite that, the team did everything they could to make it right. They got me rescheduled as quickly and the nurse/clinical even took the time to talk with me about the antibiotics that was making me feel awful. They helped switch me to a different antibiotic (thank you... I really hate amoxicillin). && incredibly thoughtful gesture, they also comped my sedation because of the cancellation. They absolutely didn't have to do that, but it meant a lot and showed they genuinely cared about the inconvenience I experienced. Fast forward two weeks... procedure day finally arrived. Same 9 yards. Prepped on the prescription medicine, my ride, meal prep. By the time I got there, the diazepam had already kicked in... I wish I remembered (or asked ) everyone's names because every single person I interacted with was incredibly kind. The assistant who brought me back.. so sweet. Got me hooked up to all the monitors, and even brought me a warm blanket. One thing you probably don't even realize made a huge difference: you narrated everything you were doing. As someone with dental anxiety, hearing "I'm putting this here..." or "I'm going to hook this up next..." kept me from getting startled. That simple communication helped me more than you know. Then Dr. Rayher came in with another staff member.. so I knew it was about to start and my anxiety once again was through the roof cause I know it was about to begin. Not to mention once the sedation started... ive never done this sort of thing. I was definitely panicking... to the point where at one point, I actually pulled my oxygen mask off. I WANTED OUT of that chair. ‍ Whoever gently rubbed my forehead and reassured me--thank you. (I think he mentioned dirt bikes at one point? ). Seriously. That small act of kindness grounded me so much in that moment. Dr. Rayher also continued talking me through the sedation process instead of just doing everything in silence. Again, as someone with anxiety, hearing what was happening made such a difference. Finally, to the person who wheeled me out afterward and patiently went over all of my post-op instructions with me: thank you. Waking up loopy wasn't super fun but your warmth, patience, and friendly voice made the experience so much easier. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. I'm now recovering from having all four wisdom teeth removed and a dental implant placed, and so far everything has been going really well. I have my 1 week follow-up and my 3 month implant check coming up. This time im looking forward to it while being coherent. If you're fortunate enough to get referred here, I would absolutely recommend UENO Clinic and Dr. Reed Rayher without hesitation. 10/10 experience. Because the procedure was expensive and not covered by my dental insurance, I decided to do more research and get additional opinions. I found Dr. Andrew Lum online, and was impressed by his credentials and very friendly office assistant, so I scheduled a visit in mid July 2026. Dr. Lum performed a periodontal evaluation and gave me a treatment plan that included two osseous surgery procedures. His diagnosis and recommended treatment were consistent with the other periodontists I visited, which gave me confidence that the treatment recommendation was reasonable. The main difference was cost. Among the three periodontists I consulted, Dr Lum office's quote was the most reasonable, is consistent with the bay area average cost for this particular treatment. I asked whether there was any flexibility in pricing, and the office did offer a discount, that help me a lot more. Overall, I appreciated Dr. Lum evaluation and explanation. My lesson from this experience is that patients should consider getting more than one opinion and comparing costs, especially for procedures that are not covered by insurance. Each evaluation cost about $150-$195, but I think it was worth it. Dr Lum has performed many surgery procedure like the one I needed. In addition, his office assistant is extremely helpful, timely, and respectful. I am looking forward to have Dr Lum to do the treatment for me. I will update the experience after the surgery.

Let's go back in time, maybe 2015, I was having issues with one of my tooths and my dentist…read morereferred me to Dr. Harandi. I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure I was on antibiotics from either him or my regular dentist at the time of my appointment with Dr. Harandi, which means I wasn't in pain or had any issues when I was at this appointment. During this appointment he said we needed to do a bone graft on that tooth or I would eventually loose the tooth. He quoted, I think I made an appointment, but probably cancelled because the antiobiotics kicked in. Fast forward to 2023, pain again, antiobiotics worked, but after a few months it's hurting again. Asked my general dentist for more antibiotics, she said no, see Dr Harandi. Made an appointment and he said, if you would have listened to me in 2015 you wouldn't be in this situation right now. In my head, I'm like FU, I'm in pain, fix my tooth. He's like tooths gotta come out and we'll need to bone graft. He was giving me the I told you so attitude but I can't argue, he did. During that same appointment, he said #13 needs a bone grafting, schedule an appointment and get it done. No BS, that entire ordeal sucked, lost a tooth, bone graft, pain, took weeks to recover. Every day, each week, each month, and each year after that surgery I kept hearing Dr. Harandi in my head telling me #13 and to schedule appointment. So after 3 years, 2026 I scheduled an appointment. No pain, no issues, but I knew eventually if I wait, I'd be losing another tooth and going throught that entire painful process again. I scheduled, he did the exam, and he said, why did it take you so long to come back? Here we go, I think I'm in trouble. He said schedule the appointment lets open it up and see what it's like inside. Once I'm in I'll know whether it's just a grafting, or if we have to extract. I said Dr, can you save my tooth? He said I don't know, I can't tell, but what I can tell you is that I'm in the business to save teeth, not pull them. That was a great answer. My appointment was 3 weeks later, so 3 weeks of praying that #13 is my lucky #. Sure enough it was. Dr. Harandi saved tooth #13, he didn't say I told you so, he said, get your teeth professionally cleaned every 3 months, floss and brush regularly. Bottonline: Dr Harandi and his team are pros.
