Loved our experience so far with Farrell and associates. I am sure these thing vary by owner but our experience is stellar. We got a very cute house at a really competitive price with no hidden costs and even one perk, landscaping is included. No pet rent or weird admin fees. The house had a very long term tenant and is charming and old classic classy place. They replaced the washer/dryer with new. Even though the old might have had a few more years left. Also, when a minor plumbing situation came up they immediately responded to get it fixed. Guess what things happen what maters is that I don't have to deal with any of it LOL! thank guys!!! read more

Farrell was the seller's agent for a new construction house we bought a month ago. We are currently seeking legal counsel to help us with a long list of issues we have had and we are only 30 days in. Let that guide your decision making. read more

Farrel and Associates was our first call when we started considering a home purchase. Even after several interviews with other recommended agents, their man, Jameson, was the one for us. He was quick, always available, concise and thorough in his answers, and a brilliant guide to helping us discern our own needs and desires. As first time homebuyers, we had a lot of process questions and potentially faced many pitfalls - but Jameson was candid and conscientious in his guidance of our expectations and each step we took lead to greater confidence. Our trust in his wisdom and experience lead us to a purchase that we are still thrilled about!! read more

Pretty much the worst property management company in North Portland. God help you if you live next to one of their tenants and have a problem. They will absolutely do nothing to remedy the situation. They have absolutely no intention of garnering a community spirit in neighborhoods, it's essentially finding tenants for their slum lord clients. This is common thing to hear about Farrell. Stay away from this place. read more

I have rented with this management company now for multiple years. They are horrible at returning calls, they never fix anything. Also when you make repairs or fix items in the rental property, and try to get reimbursed, they refuse and you are out of money. Over charged, under managed. This is not a honest, reliable property management. I have since left and love the new rental I am in. I never realized how bad Farrell and associate's were until I experienced a great rental property management. read more

I was living overseas and hired Farrell to manage my property ( one house-fairly simple right?). My tenants complained to me that Farrrell would not return their phone calls and it wasn't until after I arranged for someone to do the work (plumbing issue) did they finally respond. Of course the bill seemed OUTRAGEOUSLY high for what I considered to be minor work. The rent check had not been deposited and I assumed the tenants were paying late. I eventually emailed tenants to check in and they told me they had paid and as it turned out, Farrel deposited it two weeks late. It seemd I had to chase after them for every little thing. Of course they had their $ 500.00 upfront and 8% a month. After less than a year I quit using them. I later heard from my neighbor that he too had problems with them and quit using them several years ago as well. read more

Jameson is great! He listened to me about what I was looking for and it turns out that isn't what I bought! But I am hugely happy with the purchase. He ably represented me during the negotiations and kept me informed every step of the way. Thank you, Jameson! read more

I bought my first house with Farrell and Associates. And I actually got Mark Farrell! He knew everything, he fought for everything that I had asked for, he was extremely patient with me. As I learned about the process and what kind of house I really wanted, Mark patiently waited. He met me at houses day after day with realistic feedback on every property. He is a smart, tough, family man and you can see how it helps him run his business. If you're looking for a house in North, NE, or even SE Portland, Mark Farrell is a great experience. He even had a Home Depot gift card sitting on my new house's fireplace mantle. Whether because it was my first house or during the holiday season, it didn't matter, it was a great gesture. I would recommend Farrell and Associates to others as I will be using him again as well. read more

Just using words alone won't describe how happy I am with your services. You all have done an exceptionally good job on finding perfect tenants for my property plus rent is always deposited into my account on time or early. I have never experienced any problem in the past three years under your roof. Thank you and keep up the good work. read more

We just sold our house with Nicole. We were grateful for the expertise and advice provided along the way. We would highly recommend Nicole. She made the process as painless as possible and even helped us find a realtor in another city. The house selling process can have so many unexpected hiccups, it helps to have a realtor you can trust to get things done and represent you in all the various transactions required. read more

Cindy S. helped me purchase my new home and she was amazing to work with. With the market very competitive on the buying end it was hard finding a home, especially considering everything was selling in a day or two. Cindy kept at it and showed me many homes and kept in mind what I needed and didn't care for. She guided me though the process and helped me understand everything I needed to know. She also set everything up with the inspections and appointments and made sure I knew what to do at each step. I would highly recommend working with Cindy for your buying or selling needs! read more

Tom Hall and the Farrell team are the best! I have worked with them twice, buying and selling and the experience was wonderful. When I needed repair work done, they were able to get me connected with a local contractor that took care of everything I needed. They truly are a full service real estate firm and I couldn't give them a higher recommendation. read more

Farrell properties took over a property we were renting from another management company and we couldn't of been happier! They were always easy to get ahold of. On Mother's Day weekend my washer broke and I was upset that I'd have to spend it at the laundry mat because it was going to take them 1-2 weeks to come out to fix it. Jeff quickly came up with a solution, I lived in a triplex and the end unit was vacant so he let me use the washer over there! He didn't have to do that but went out of his way to fix a problem instead of just saying sorry go to the laundry mat! We cleaned our place like crazy at the end because we needed our deposit back, we received a check in the mail much sooner then the 30 days they have to give it back, no hassle what so ever! So glad they took over our property! Again, a special thanks to Jeff Rhodes for going out of his way for us! You're the best! read more

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Cindy from Farrell & Associates. She helped us buy our first home and was with us every step of the way!! .. Still is! Any question I had - she was there to answer any of my first time home buyer questions! I would work with Cindy again without any reservation. I highly recommend working with her and Farrell & Associates. Thank you for everything!! read more

Not having dealt with a realtor for 25 years, I was somewhat wary, especially as a couple of my family members are not enamored with the profession. Rosemary Chitala basically was assigned to us and I doubt a more positive experience was possible. She did excellent and thorough work, guiding us through every step for an excellent outcome. I would happily recommend her to any and all. read more

We had an outstanding realtor with Farrell and Associates. Cindy S helped us buy our new home in Canby after showing us multiple homes. We were very picky and she had the patience of an angel. If she didn't have an answer to a question immediately, she would get back to us very quickly. Once we had our offer accepted on our new home, we had Cindy put our home of 34 years on the market. We accepted an offer within three weeks on this home! Cindi saw us thru all the legalities of buying and selling both homes, so that everything went smoothly and quickly. She is not only a very professional, knowledgeable, smart realtor, she is also a very caring and kind lady. We would highly recommend Cindy S with Farrell and Associates to assist you in finding your new home and/or selling your present home. Vern and Jan Renwick read more

In November of this year (2012) my wife and I decided we should take advantage of the good rental market in Portland and buy a rental property. We are long-time North Portland residents and partial to the St. Johns area. We bought a rental property about 18 years ago in the area, and it has proven to be a good investment. So one of the criteria for choosing a realtor was that they be very familiar with St. Johns and also know the rental market. Mark Farrell gets big points on both counts. And Jeff Rhoads, the property manager with Farrell's, has done a great job of managing the first property for many years, advocating for us as well as for the tenant. Mark and Jeff really know the area. We looked at maybe a half-dozen houses through the month and Mark was always very straightforward about the pluses and minuses of each one, genuinely concerned that we get a low maintenance, easy-to-rent property. We were never pressured. And he was always available and easy and pleasant to work with. Once we found a house in our price range, in a good neighborhood, Mark helped us negotiate some necessary repairs with the seller, and arrive at fair price, and we made the offer. Mark did a great job guiding us through all the layers of paperwork, too. The closing was delayed a couple weeks due to uncooperative weather making the said repairs difficult, but eventually they were done and the deal closed in late January. All quite painless. (if you can call getting a mortgage painless these days). And to top it off Jeff had the place rented on the very day the deal closed. Couldn't really have gone much smoother. read more

After 15 years of having Jeff Rhodes of Farrell & Associates manage my house as a rental, I hired Mark Farrell to be my agent when I decided to sell it. I do not live in Portland, so thought it might be a challenge, yet he made it very easy for me. I was able to sign documents securely online and he always returned my calls the same day if he wasn't available when I did call. My house sold within a couple weeks of going on the market for over the asking price. Thank you Mark and Farrell & Associates for being so trustworthy, knowledgeable and easy to work with read more

I worked with Rosemary Chitala in finding a home. Rosemary was very positive, helpful and loving. Rosemary taught me a lot about the home buying process and gave me a lot of information to factor into the homes we looked at. I recommend this company and especially Rosemary to get you through the home buying process. Thanks Farrell And Associates. read more

Worst nightmare We just returned from 4 years abroad to find our rental house that was managed by Jeff absolutely trashed. We're talking cat feces (pets were NOT allowed), an owl carcass, layers and layers of dirt, melted wax from candles, soil rings from house plants all over the hardwood floors. The walls were painted black or with pentagrams, and the carpetJeff was always very evasive when we asked for information, slow to give us updates, and when we requested walk through photos, they arrived out of focus and impossible to make sense of, but always taking weeks and repeated requests to receive. He was always quick to take our money, however. Now we have thousands of dollars worth of damage--well beyond the deposit--to account for. I have no idea what we were paying for. read more

Farrell And Associates has managed our rental house in North West Portland for the past 15+ years. When we decided to sell we chose Mark Farrell as our broker, and we are very glad we did. I am a Commercial Real Estate broker in Seattle, so am very familiar with the sales process, and I can sincerely say that Mark hit the bulls-eye on every issue. Mark and his team are the "real deal". They are truly Real Estate Professionals. Mark got us an all cash, top of market price, and handled all the details of closing. Great job Mark Farrell!! read more

Renting from Farrell isn't good. Rent with someone else. They never returned calls or answer the phone when you call. Took to long to find out info or get items fixed. Don't rent from them! read more

Whitney was referred to us by a good friend, and we feel very fortunate to have had him help us in our ultimately successful search for a home in Portland. Whitney was patient with my wife and I, who are not familiar with Portland or the local real estate market. Once we established what our priorities were, Whitney was good at showing us options and helping us see the pros and cons of each property. Whitney is level headed and practical, and certainly knows the Portland market very well. If we decide to purchase another property in the area, we would use Farrell again without question (hopefully with Whitney!). read more

My husband and I just bought our first home and had the pleasure of having Cindy S. as our realtor. We couldn't have asked for a better realtor!! Cindy was very patient with my unending amount of questions and always made herself available. If you're looking for the best realtor in Oregon, contact Cindy at Farrell & Associates!!! read more

Whitney went above and beyond to help my buy the perfect home. He is very knowledgeable about the greater Portland area and was patient with me as I looked through many different neighborhoods. He picked up on features that I liked that I didn't even realize I had commented on. He was honest in pointing out the negative aspects of houses that I liked, and his knowledge of construction was valuable from selecting the house to walking through it with the inspector. He negotiated a better price than the listing and was prompt with every aspect of the deal. Great communication and easy to work with. read more

Farrell realty was amazing to work with! We worked with Maria Elmore and she was phenomenal! She was so reassuring to work with and has a great attitude! She was quick to respond to my countless requests to look at different houses and set up showings for us! And when we happened to find our perfect house half a week into looking at houses, Maria was prompt at helping us get all the necessary paperwork ready! She gave us great advice and made sure everything went smoothly throughout the whole process! Thanks to the whole team for all our hard work in helping us get our dream house! read more

We worked with Jameson from Farrell and Associates. He was recommended to us by one of our good friends and we loved working with him. He was extremely active in helping us find new leads that met our criteria, meeting us at all the houses we were interested in (even outside of his normal area), and doing research when necessary. One thing that made me trust him was that if we had a question and he didn't know the answer he would tell us he didn't know but would immediately run it by the principle broker to get an answer. We never felt we were being lied to or pressured into buying something we didn't want. It's easy to tell that he loves what he's doing and is just as invested in finding a house as we were. After we had an accepted offer he stayed very active in the lending process. He caught something on the inspection report that we had missed that ended up saving us $1100. This was the first house we have bought and next time we are looking for a house we hope to work with Jameson again. We would highly recommend working with Jameson. Thank you!! read more

Horrible Property management. They never fix anything and hike your rent costs to insane levels in a short time. Don't rent from these people. read more

I was a tenant for 18 months and never had a problem with the Property Management. The property was in very good condition. Good people.

Listed our property with Farrell, as we knew they had an extensive knowledge of the neighborhood, and were well acquainted with the market we were listing in. Mark laid out a plan, gave us a few pointers on how best to prepare the home for sale, and followed through perfectly. For Mark's part, the sale had it's complexities, yet he never once mentioned the extra work he had to put in, due to the negotiation process, nor the fact he was selling a home that actually had three owners, each of which had the ability to derail the sale. Mark addressed each of our requests, and the sale could not have gone more smoothly. If we list in the future, Farrell and Associates will be our first choice. read more

We have sold and bought many properties over the years, Farrell and Associates, in particular Tim Fowler provided us with some of the best service we have ever had. The Portland market is a very competitive market at the moment and a good realtor makes all the difference on both sides of the table. Tim was honest, prompt and organized in the service he provided. He came to every meeting we had with current data and listened intently to all our concerns and needs. He took the information we gave him and provided exactly the service we hoped for. In this day of Redfin and similar applications he always gave us more detail then we could get from the internet. In closing the property we always knew exactly where we were in the process and he helped with finding resources that we needed to expedite the closing. By far the best realtor we have ever had. Well done! read more

Under no circumstances should you ever rent from these people. The do absolutely nothing to maintain their properties. The house I was in had black mold everywhere, the faucets didn't work correctly, the wiring was so bad if you plugged into two items on the same circuit, the breaker switched off. The garage was full of mice, the driveway was broken into pieces, the roof was so far gone there were plants growing out of it, there was so much moss on the walkways I took my life in my hands every time I went outside. And if I ever asked them to fix anything, they said: "Do you know how much more we could be renting that place for?" I met a woman whose son rents from them, and she said there was so much rot around his ink, it was about to drop through the counter; of course they wouldn't do a thing about it. And they are not cheap! As this woman said, they are largely responsible for the huge leap in housing costs in North Portland. It is beyond me why people hire this irresponsible operation to run their rentals for them. The house I was renting has gone from a nice property to essentially worthless. read more
