Select your jar, and the staff measures how much oz you want into a bag or your own reusable containers. It didn't occur to me to bring some old jars I have, but next time I will. There is a selection of books with lots of information of herbs! The Herbal Essentials is made by the owner of the shop I think, and it captivated my interest right away looking at the first few pages. Got a 10% deal because it was just released. After this book? I might try out others they have because I was very interested in learning more since there was such a variety within the shop and I'd love to get some knowledge on different benefits and types of herbs there are! Ok, ... I'm all for supporting local businesses that's why I sought this place out for some white sage smudge bundles. What I'm NOT FoR is being way overcharged! Last i knew, there weren't any tariffs or such on sage bundles !!... and even if there was ... You can buy a whole large box of these on Amazon for $22. This place charges $12 for ONE ...approx 4" sage smudge which is just outrageous! read more

pharmacies move aside and make way for farmacy herbs! i first discovered this business two years ago at a prov farmers market, and then learned there's a store by one of my favorite cemeteries. i love how eco friendly this place is. you could bring your own containers and weigh in your leaves, powders, roots, etc. i highly recommend the pre blended bags like detox blend and women's blend if you're just getting started. i have been so many times that i got the hang of making my own concoctions. the quality of these herbs and leaves is outstanding. anyone who visits any home is blown away by the flavors of my tea. they might not even be tea drinkers but enjoy my tea. i love how the inside looks like what you might imagine a tea farm to look like. i get so caught up that i always forget to picture the inside. my experience with service has been generally helpful. i feel like i've met some really passionate people who work here and know so much about the tea, but on a couple occasions i have gotten passive unwelcoming persons. the positive experience far outweigh the negative. just did a restock this week and found white willow bark which i am so excited to try! read more

This is SUCH a cool shop and a wonderful Providence gem. They grow their own herbs locally for all sorts of lovely products like teas, tinctures, bulk herbs, and local honey, etc. They are so knowledgeable about the health benefits of every ingredient. And the shop is very well stocked. It was here I got really into dried nettle tea. Was excited to visit this shop and check out their winter warm up tea as well as their 1st aid kit. The shop is across from a cemetery, easy to find. The shop is filled with tinctures and jarred herbs. They take their time when dealing with customers so you don't feel rushed and the staff is very knowledgeable. I felt healthier just walking around in the shop. There's an amazing amount of jarred herbs so you can make up your own herbal concoctions. There are teas bagged and ready. My rating is based on customer service rather than product. My first experience was at the farmer's market. I'd been in need of some natural oils and products, so I was very excited to see them...and excited that they weren't, say, Whole Foods. Well, my experience at the market was not super positive, largely because I felt they weren't interested in helping me. I was looking for something specific, and when they didn't have it, there was no, "maybe try this instead?" Or anything that resembled concern. I decided on honey and tea tree oil, but they didn't take credit cards, so I had to get "market bucks" (which I've not used before). I asked a question about it, and though I didn't see an eye-roll, I felt one? I felt like they (well, one girl in particular) wanted nothing to do with me. Anyway, I used their tea tree oil rather quickly (it was a very small bottle), and I needed more, but I checked their hours and realized it was 4:50 and they closed at 5, and the following day they were also closed. So I called to ask-"hey if I'm on my way, and it's 10 min from here, would you be able to wait for me? I know exactly what I want--it'll be very quick." And the reply was, "I leave at 5, so if you're not here, we'll be closed." All right. I get it, people have lives. But I've worked in retail, and I've seen small businesses operate, and I've seen going above and beyond customers' expectations. The way I was treated none of those things. No, "I'm really sorry, I need to be somewhere after work so I can't stay." No nothing. I wanted to support a local, small businesses, but I won't be going back. read more

Phenomenal! I'm upset that I haven't been going here for years! Ok, I started using medical herbs about five years ago. I had been on the pill to alleviate my severe cramping during my period, but the side affects were causing other problems in my life. I checked a crunchy hippy healing book out of the library and the rest is history! Raspberry leaf has eliminated my problems. I then started exploring other teas to keep my health in check: echinacea to keep colds away, ginger root to ease stomach upset. Up until now I had been buying Traditional Medicinals teas from Whole Foods and those boxes run around $5. A 2 ounce bag of raspberry leaf here coasts $4. Now the written word does not do the cost difference justice, but I assure you buying from here is a WAY better deal. The women were very friendly and willing to offer suggestions for various symptoms. Plus the stuff is grown on a local farm and they have super cute screen printed bags, chap sticks, tea sets, body salves and posters. read more

Very friendly, knowledgeable staff! Very small, unassuming building - I missed it the first time I drove by. Loads of herbs available here in bulk, many are locally grown. Nice selection of tinctures, salves, etc. as well as small batches of local honey on occasion. They will happily custom-blend small-batch teas for whatever ails you, and the premixed teas are great! Absolutely adorable little shop filled to the brim with medicinal grade herbs and oils. There were lots of blends and they were helpful in giving me info on migraines and headaches !! They also had cute little lunar calendars and smudge sticks and honey! Just a little bit of everything. If by any chance they read this, would love two things. One, crystals would be amazing !! And two, the reference books you have are awesome but some nice second hand books for sale too would be awesome! Thanks so much! Update since my post: one of my purchases was a small peppermint essential oil. $10 wasn't bad in price so I got it without sampling the scent or quality before hand. As a black man, I've always found the staff at Farmacy Herbs very helpful and very welcoming. That hasn't always been the case with businesses I've been to, so I've become quite aware of it personally. I think I started going there 16 years ago? I had some stomach issues and Mary Blue was able to provide some excellent suggestions on what herbs to take. They totally remedied my upset stomach- marshmallow root tea I think it was. Since then I've gone back for tea, honey, and definitely immune building herbs since the pandemic. They really know their stuff and every time I go back Im met with a smile. read more

I visited Farmacy on the recommendation of my therapist to find a more natural remedy for anxiety. The shop itself is in a residential area near the hospital in Pawtucket. I walked in and the girl working the register was more than helpful directing me to the products for anxiety and immune support. The store is small but has a number of dried tea leaves and other elixirs. I purchased the immune support and less stress and can notice a different with my anxiety levels. They also sell honey and elderberry syrup. A great spot for natural finds and remedies. read more

This is one of the best places to start if you're trying to get into non 'conventional' medicine, or just want a tasty herb assortment for your tea. The staff is very knowledgeable, and do try to help you as much as they can without giving medical advice. The storefront is warm and comforting, as a small fire was run in the stove as I visited. Farmacy Herbs is also full of books and readings if you're looking for knowledge. The herbs are affordable. If you're looking for large mason jars or cobalt droppers, here's your place. LOCAL honey from South County is also available. I know this store will become a staple in my journies around. Be careful, this is in a residential area and may not be easy to find at first. I love Farmacy Herbs! Everything I've purchased from them -- be it their amazing Sweet Dreams tea (a blend of chamomile and other slumber-inducing herbs) or their luscious honey or honey-based products, every item I've come to acquire has been wonderful. They usually have a stand set up at the Hope Street Farmers Market, which is a lovely way to introduce yourself to their products. My very first purchase was their amazing honey- and beeswax-based lip balm. This stuff is a minor miracle, let me tell you -- I have exceedingly dry skin and this stuff is quenching, gentle and has a mild honey taste. It also comes in a decent sized tin and has lasted me all year. They sell raw, local honey by the jar and their namesake, the herbs are truly wonderful. My tea has become a nightly ritual, and I never sleep as well as I do when I drink my Sweet Dreams. They'll let you sniff and sample every blend they carry, and I recommend you so - they have something for everyone, and they're locally-made, to boot. read more

This review is regarding customer service at the Farmacy not the products ,it was very quiet when we went so it wasn't as if the person working was overwhelmed . My herbalist advised me to go there to pick up a few herbs to try and calm down the inflammation raging in my body . It was an effort just going there that day which was Friday the 14 th . I'd thought the woman would be able to suggest or have knowledge about the a few herbs they have there in addition to what I was purchasing . I only asked about any additional herb for cramping in my digestive system . The Farmacy was fully stocked with many herbs both for medicinal purposes and cooking . I don't believe the woman who was there was same person I'd spoken to years ago who was extremely helpful on certain herbal remedies . The woman who was working that day was not interested in what I needed or what else I could try but said I could make an appointment for a consultation . Since it was my first time there I'm hoping it was an off day because it honestly felt like my questions were really a bother to the person working . When someone is as sick as I was that day it would be nice to have someone that didn't seem irritated to help a customer who wants to use herbs for medicine rather than pharmaceuticals . When we left I'd asked my hubby if she seemed irritated , was I imagining it with me being sick and a little sensitive his answer was no . Hopefully next time it won't seem like we're being a bother to the woman working ,or maybe a better idea is to go with an herbal book to research herbs myself . read more

My wife went there, paid for a consultation which was expensive and got some herbs for women's health issues, whatever. We buy this regimen and of course there is a disclaimer about not for healing but for support, yet there is a master herbalist. Long story short is she isn't feeling well so instead we go to a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor after, which we should have done first, and he says her Qi is all messed up and her energies are all imbalanced. We gave him the herbs and he was not happy. He told us not to use them anymore and gave her a more balanced prescription. Thankfully she is fine now. This place clearly has people that need to study more and not risk hurting folks. Better yet just make teas! Avoid this place and go to a TCM Doctor.
