Unprofessional to say the least... Unprofessional staff Super bummed out. Jen came off as a really sweet and professional business woman, initially. We verbally agreed to change our event with her to use her catering services for another event. She agreed and was really easy to deal with. No issues whatsoever. Upon cancelling the "first" contract at her request, she went back on the verbal agreement and said she was keeping our deposit, contract cancelled, no further services, end of story. Very unethical, unprofessional and just an all around thief. I get that catering companies are not a huge money maker, but really? While, I couldn't say don't use this company (hello, look at that gorgeous menu and display!) I will say ... Just make sure all agreements are in WRITING and not her word of mouth. I so enjoyed working with Jennifer she went above and beyond to help us pick a menu that all of our wedding guests enjoyed! They even did a separate plate for one of my vegan guests! Great food great couple The operation is run by the cutest couple. Carlos is the quiet meticulous chef who will wow even your snobbiest friends' taste buds. Jen runs front of house. That means she does all the menu crafting, costing, logistics, staffing... basically she makes it her mission to make sure your wedding is the very best dream wedding ever (and I do believe she means it). For our first visit we drove out to Grass Valley for our initial tasting. My wife and I were sold after a few bites and so we started talking logistics. Our wedding venue was a privately owned 1920s house up in Tahoe. Beautiful, yes. All inclusive, no. After the first few minutes it was clear we weren't accurately describing the challenges they would face by taking us on as a client. This place had 2 tables, 7 forks, and a beautiful historic useless 1920s kitchen. They agreed to drive up to Tahoe to do a site visit. Two months later they drove 1.5hr up to Tahoe to check out the venue. I am so glad they did. They really got a sense on why this venue was special -- and challenging. They decided it would be best to just build their own outdoor kitchen. Did I mention they want to make your dream wedding come true? As we walked around the property explaining our vision, they (respectfully) gave us logistical feedback, as well as grand vision ideas that we later incorporated in the actual wedding. Wedding day: Just as it is supposed to happen, my wife and I just showed up to cocktail hour and everything was running smoothly. Every guest had a drink and was nibbling on hors d'oeuvres. Jen immediately greeted us with a custom hors d'oeuvres plate for us to inhale. Somehow Jen found out that I love prosciutto and melon and so there was one slice prepared just for me. Dinner: Fantastic! We had an amazing seasonal salad with nectarine and burrata, basil parmesan polenta cakes, grilled strip steak with salsa verde and roasted dorado with blistered heirloom tomatoes. My wife and I both strategize and save our favorite flavor for our last bite. We were stumped! So we called Jen over and told her our problem was that it was all too good. Without skipping a beat she told us how to savor the last of our flavors. We got so many compliments on the food. People always say that your guests will only notice if it's bad. They are wrong. Where to start?! Jennifer and Carlos are so amazing. They are honestly just two really good humans. When my husband (fiance at the time) and I first went up to Grass Valley for the tasting, we booked them immediately for our wedding. They are so down to earth, easy to talk to, and so much fun! We even had the pleasure of meeting some of their kids, who stopped by during our tasting. A month or so later, we came back for our second tasting and it was absolutely phenomenal! My husband really liked one of their sauces for the steak, so they said they would make that sauce just for him on our wedding day. At the tasting, we decided that we would go with the buffet option, but shared that our biggest concern was that we'd run out of food (we've been to weddings where that happened before). We also feared that the chicken would be dry, as that's an all too common theme at weddings. They assured us that would not be the case. Fast forward to the wedding: THEY WERE INCREDIBLE! Let's start with the cocktail hour. The tomato basil soup shooters with the grilled cheese slice on top was TO DIE FOR. So delicious. Everything was amazing, and the charcuterie table was absolutely gorgeous. Then, Farm To Table kindly served us first before serving our guests. We received so many compliments from our guests. Everyone couldn't stop raving about how delicious the food was - the brussell sprouts were a hit and the chicken was so tender and juicy. My good friend Jenny used Farm to Table for her wedding in Graeagle, CA last year. I fell in love with the wonderful quality of the food and was happy to hear that she was enjoyed her correspondence with them even though her wedding at an estimated 250+. She spoke highly of them, and also sang praises about their flexibility. My wedding was in Vallejo, CA this October. It was a long way for them to travel, but they were willing to do it, even thought my event was only at 100 people. Jennifer was a saint, and we were able to take care of all of our business online after the first initial walk-through of the venue. She assisted me in coordinating my rentals, and even though I had to order a convection oven for my wedding, she kept costs reasonable by maintaining a fair rate at our original budget. The travel fees I paid for to get them there were well worth it. EVERYONE who attended my wedding said the food was top notch. I am a firm believer that people always remember the food at a wedding, and I made sure those memories were good ones by picking Jennifer and Carlos. I also requested bar service and a bar-back, and they did an excellent job as well. Jenny (not be be confused with Jenny, co-owner, or Jenny, my friend) was one of the bar-backs I spoke with and she was so wonderfully pleasant and complimented me on being such a "chill bride". I really love that Jennifer (co-owner) hires young people as well, because I also worked for a catering company as a high school student. It's hard work, but it teaches work ethic, and she manages them well. Carlos was cooking away most of the wedding so I did not have a chance to see him at all, but all my love to that man, he is a cooking fool!! But, the most important things that they did for me are as follows. 1. Checked in with me to make sure I had what I needed. 2. Set aside appetizers for my husband and I while we did photos, as well as a full Bride and Groom meal and leftovers for after the wedding. 3. Cleaned up everything beautifully and left the remaining piles of decor and booze in an easy place for take away. 4. Went to bat for me when the rental place tried to charge me an additional fee when certain things were not accounted for on their end. When I reached out to Jennifer to confirm the missing items, she said there was no way we had left out so much and called the rental company herself. I got an email the next day stating that the rental company found the missing items and the fees had been dropped. I really did my best to be a chill bride, and it was much easier when I was really able to trust my caterer. Jennifer was extremely easy to work with and always responded to emails quickly. Carlos customized our menu and offered many great suggestions to fit the theme of our Italian family style wedding. We chose Farm to Table to cater our wedding because they offered a large array of high quality and local food at a reasonable cost. They truly went above and beyond with the additional services that they offered. Jennifer created menus that matched our invitations, ordered and served our gelato for dessert, and assisted our coordinator with setting up and pouring wine. Like other caterers they had levels of food you could order. But, they were not as rigid as other vendors we talked to. They gave us flexible options to suit our needs and both Jennifer and Carlos were upfront with all fees and made sure we knew what we were getting. They were a pleasure to work with and seemed genuinely excited about our ideas and incorporated them in their catering. It felt more like we were working with friends rather than a vendor. I cannot recommend Farm to Table highly enough. They catered our wedding this past weekend and completely blew everyone away. The meal was one of the best meals I've had in a long time - and they made enough for 130+ guests! Carlos is an incredible chef and not a single dish disappointed. Jenn not only managed the meal, but we hired her on as a coordinator for the wedding. Best money we ever spent. She was intelligent, responsive, and incredibly responsible. Through every step of planning she was an incredible resource. We didn't have to repeat ourselves once - every little detail that we planned on (and several that we didn't think to plan on!) was handled beautifully. Jennifer and Carlos catered our September campground wedding and they were amazing to work with and made our wedding day go off without a hitch! They are flexible, professional, and reliable. On top of it all, their presentation is beautiful and the food is delicious. My maid of honor is a farmer, and Jennifer and Carlos were willing to work with us to incorporate her produce into the menu - which made our day even more special! My sister-in-law developed a cocktail menu and Jennifer provided awesome bartenders who made the drinks (we provided the alcohol, and Jennifer provided the garnishes and glassware). They are so flexible and easy to work with. Jennifer coordinates all the rentals and will provide great advice on what to rent. They are so on it! Farm to Table Catering was the first and only catering company we met with for our wedding at Empire Mine State Park in Grass Valley, California. The husband-wife duo truly had us at hello. We had them cater both our rehearsal dinner and the wedding. Carlos is a spectacular chef, and Jennifer is just plain amazing. We also hired Jennifer as our Day Of Coordinator, which was worth every penny; she is EXTREMELY organized and responsive. She handled the majority of our rentals (dinnerware, tables, chairs, linens). Plus, she's worked with most of the other vendors in the area and at most of the venues, so she knows all of the rules so you don't have to worry about it. Ultimately, we LOVED them because they are easy going and so much fun! They exuded a positive energy and so did all of their staff. They made our wedding perfect! read more
