They all send cars, they all get you from A to B and they have all crept their prices slowly up over the years. In my opinion Bristol City Cars has risen above the others. I like the fact that they keep their shop looking nice and colourful. I like having a central office on Gloucester Road I can walk into. They're open 24/7 too and while their prices are admittedly following the current order of taxis nationwide, they do provide a friendly professional service. Which is what you want really, isn't it?

Well, simply, whenever you book a taxi through Streamline Taxi, the friendliest cabbies in Bristol, they'll save your name and phone number to greet you for the next time. And it's likely that there will be a next time once you start using Streamline. They're always on time, call you the minute they're outside wherever they're picking you up (great for not waiting in the cold outside the pub) and will take you the quickest possible route. But my favourite thing about them is how personable all of their drivers are. I had the same driver take me and pick me up from a birthday party, and he remembered what I'd bought them, how old they were and who was going. "Did they like the photo album?" Fantastic! Streamline taxis may not be the cheapest firm in town but they are the most reliable, friendly and convenient.

This can be a little bit scary, but shows their level of efficiency and I have no problem with them doing so. They've been operating in the city since 1937, so clearly know it well. They promise a taxi within 10 minutes of your call, unless at very busy periods, in which case they'll tell you the soonest they can get there. The drivers have always been friendly in an honest way - you can often get those who force conversation in order to to receive a tip, but their drivers don't generally try to do so. All in all a very good firm, and I can recommend the safety and efficiency of their drivers.

Welcome to the new kids on the block!…read more Greenway Taxis Office is based in Westbury on Trym but they claim to serve pretty much the whole of Bristol and slightly beyond. So you may start seeing them around town. I called them from work a few days ago and they arrived pretty quickly. I had a little chat to the driver and found that the company is co-operatively owned and run by ex crown drivers and employees, it seems like a really good idea and gives them a chance to own a bit of a business. They claim to be a 24 hour service, which I can't verify for sure. They also have the slightly bigger cars for when there's 5 or 6 of you and it seems silly to get 2 smaller taxis.
