The staff are so sweet, helpful and amazing, the space is always clean pleasant and welcoming. they are also accommodating to missed classes and allows make ups if needed so your not robbed of your tuition fees. After checking out a few other sites, I found this place through Yelp and their website (Thank you other Yelpers!). Quickly signed up for month of classes and went to my first class the very same night. Absolutely blown away! The instructor, Tehani, and her business partner, Kim, are both welcoming, kind, and passionate about Tahitian dance. They patiently take you through each step and each week review what was done before while building on with new choreography and emphasis on different parts of the dance moves. The other dancers have all been quite friendly and you can feel the spirit of camaraderie and island sentiment in the room. I'm one month in and happily hooked. I highly recommend you take one class or maybe even sign up for a month and see where the spirit of this dance and the instructor take you.

After dropping her off, we had only been gone for about three minutes when we received a call saying she wasn't separating well and asking us to come back. When we returned, the staff member at the front desk simply handed us our check and said, "Maybe next year." I was really disappointed by how quickly the decision was made. I believe a better approach would have been to give us the opportunity to stay and let her adjust to the environment, or even allow her to participate with me nearby to see if she became comfortable. Many toddlers need a little time to warm up to a new setting. Instead, it felt like they were more interested in refunding our money than helping her succeed. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I won't be returning. It's especially disappointing because I have two daughters and was hoping to support a local business, but we'll be looking for a program in another town instead. The place was super cute though!

Here's why: When they called me back to confirm the booking & coordinate a time (which I emailed them to see if they teach country dancing), they said yes, we can do that. When we went there - I brought my cowboy dancing boots and was stoked to learn something new with my boo. They had us wait a little bit (we were a few minutes early). They brought us into a private dancing room and showed us the ropes for some basic dance movements and styles. We did some salsa and merengue and fox trot, etc... but no country. We had a blast and a lot of fun. We were sweating too! But they withheld the country from us. Then after the session, instead of a bye! hope to see you next time, they brought us into the manager's suite to get bamboozled with humungous numbers (price tags) for dance lessons with group sessions. Try 10 classes at over $1,500.00..(and not all of them were for one on one sessions).. Meanwhile, we were seeking something simpler - like closer to the cost of what we paid for the trial ($49.00). When they showed me the form with the classes that they offer - country wasn't listed and when I brought it up, they wrote it in. I/we felt scammed... because when we were waiting to start the first session - they also had me fill out a similar form and there was a box for country dancing on that one. It's really unfortunate, because maybe we'd go back if they had an à la carte option for classes at a more affordable rate. A lot of places do something like $55.00 per class with the tenth one free! We told them we'd think about it so they would let us leave. The manager and our instructor were really pushy. Not to mention, that the instructor "gets to know you" and then uses that against you to get the manager to get you hyped up for a sale. They booked us for the following week at the same time. They were kind enough to call me back to confirm the night before. I advised them that we would not be returning, as per the hefty pricing, and they didn't charge me anything extra. (24 hour cancellation policy) Now don't get me wrong - I'm sure you get what you pay for to some extent, and I'm sure the classes and group dancing are fun (we saw others there enjoying themselves), but the way they went about it was off-putting and I really feel like they should have been more forthright and upfront with us prior to. We don't regret the dance session. Happy feet!

Thank you so much to our private teacher Courtney who was patient, kind, and made us feel so comfortable. Not to mention, she is so knowledgeable with the dances and provided so much advice and support. For the group class (which happen often during the weeknights), the other couples in the class were cheering us on! Alicia was a great teacher and walked us through all the dances. If you decide to give dancing a try, make sure you ask for Courtney and Alicia! You won't be disappointed.

Trying to find an absolute beginner ballet class for adults in Queens was not an easy find but the class offered here became my favorite, thanks to Kerry. I started taking ballet in January 2024 at Dance Matters with Kerry and after a few months began taking classes at multiple studios, as well. If I had not taken Kerry's class first, I'm not sure that I would have continued taking ballet classes at all. I believe it is Kerry's teaching style that hooked me into taking ballet class multiple times a week and I look forward to her classes the most. I began not only completely new to ballet (other than some classes I did when I was 4/5 years old) but new to dance, in general, too. Kerry is a fantastic teacher and seems like it comes naturally to her because she is just SO GOOD at teaching and explaining. She surveys members of the class on their ballet and dance background so she can tailor each class to best fit the attendees levels. Kerry is very encouraging and her "dancer's choice" when doing combos creates such a refreshing atmosphere because it takes the pressure off of trying to do moves that I'm not ready for yet without feeling like I'm messing up or am straggling behind in class. Kerry breaks everything down from how to stand, how to hold your arms, and moves within a combo itself, to name a few examples. I really appreciate that in class when we learn a combo going across the floor going in one direction, Kerry will also have us mark it going in the opposite direction. I find it tricky to just reverse the combo automatically without some practice and I've noticed taking that extra time to mark it is not something that all teachers do. I also really appreciate that Kerry will do the combos with participants who don't have it down pat as it helps takes some of the stage fright away. Kerry's absolute beginner class is the best one I have found and I loveee her beginner level class, too where you can expect the same level of attention and quality!
