If you're wondering if one, somewhat tiny empanada-esque pie is really worth seven dollars, it is…read more Sinfully decadent and totally unhealthy, but definitely worth it for the amazing taste that will take over your mouth. They often come out to sell their pies in front of Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company. That was where I got my hands on one of their Jack-O-Lantern pies, which is their seasonal pumpkin cheesecake offering. It was the best seasonal item I had all autumn. It was amazing. I made a fool of myself wolfing it down. And guess what? I would do it again, and again, and - you get my point. Don't second guess it, just one.

Delicious sweet and savory pies. The Croque Monsieur was my favorite. This pie is based off a…read morefrench ham and cheese sandwich, it was terrific, the ham was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth, the cheese was terrific (though I am not sure what kind it was). The crust was flakey and terrific. I could eat these all day. The Croquw Monsieur came with homemade creamed cabbage, which was tangy and tasty. I also tried a chocolate almond pie. This was also very good. The chocolate was dark and rich, and paired well with the almond. The pie was served with whipped cream, which tasted homemade. While the chocolate pie was good, I don't think I would order it again. I was interested in the description, but I tend to prefer fruit pies, and I am kicking myself for not trying their apple pie. Soon. I tried Pie-Stand recently at the Chinatown Night Market. My understanding is that they are typically in Fishtown. I'm not sure if the pies were changed at all for the night market, but I tried two hand pies. I think I paid something like $12 for 2 pies. The owners, or staff, or whoever was in the stand were really friendly and seemed passionate about what they do. I can't wait to try some more of their pies. I'll keep a look out whenever I am in Fishtown.

It's food truck season and I love my food trucks!! I live in NJ so people will look at me like I'm…read morecrazy when I drive across the bridge for food that comes off a truck. Food trucks have come a long way and some of the best eats will be from trucks, especially in Philly. Street Food Philly came down to the Navy Yard on this lovely spring day and everything on the menu sounded delicious. My stomach can only hold so much during lunchtime so I got the black angus beef quesadilla and the truffle parm fries. Amazing!! I typically like my fries on the thinner side but they put just the right amount of truflle oil and freshly grated parmesan cheese that I didn't mind the thickness. The quesadilla was filled with perfectly seasoned ground beef, pico, and cheese. The meal was quite on the heavy side so I was only able to finish half of my meal. I'll be heating it up in about 2 hours. I tried picking it up to eat with my hands but it got quite messy. The filling kept falling out and luckily, I was all alone at my desk that no one saw me shoving my fingers into my mouth to get all of the goodness in there. I eventually became civilized and grabbed a fork to eat like a normal human being. Hope they came back so I can try out some of the other creations.

The food truck biz is definitely growing here in Philly. I saw the attractive bright green truck lined up amongst the others on 33rd street, central to Drexel students path to school. I saw their short but attractive menu posted on a white board and mulled it over for a couple minutes. The roasted lamb sandwich stood out to me with its Mediterranean influence, so I went with it. The owner, Mike, was friendly and chatted me up. He told me they had just roasted the lamb the previous night and that their menu constantly changes according to what they have available. HIs partner, Carolyn, is a friendly American-Vietnamese lady and they are just great! The sandwich was absolutely to die for!! I could not stop raving about it after I had it and immediately sent pictures, instagramed and advocated it to all of my friends. It definitely wasn't just lunch truck quality, but high restaurant quality. The meat was juicy and tender and the sauce topped it all off. There was just the right amount of feta cheese and olives- I don't even like olives and I very much enjoyed it in this sandwich. I even got my friend to go to their truck the same day and she got their pork tacos, which were also delish! I went back a second time yesterday and got the clam and oyster chowder, which was less creamy and more salty than for my liking. They were running out of a lot of their items since it was later in the day, and I was recommended the turkey sandwich. It has beans and a fried egg on top, but I ate it when it was cold so I can't say I liked it very much. I won't doubt their other items though. I heard the banh mi is pretty good, so I'll definitely be returning to try everything else!
