    Soy sauce chicken
    Con C.

Came for mother's day and tried the updated C menu. Very seafood heavy, and no longer contains any beef or pork dishes. Fried salted egg pumpkin and mushrooms was a hit, fried rice was lacking flavor. Soy sauce chicken was delicious. Service was fast. No change in decor from last year.

We came in on a weekday for an early dinner. There is a small parking lot in front of the restaurant and parking was not a problem at this time. We were seated right away. The dining room has plenty of tables. We appreciated the hot tea and complimentary chicken and corn soup. The chicken hong kong style chow mein was nice and crispy although the sauce could have used a stronger flavor profile and was undersalted. The mixed vegetable dish had a nice variety of vegetables. We enjoyed the salt and pepper tofu dish which also could have used a bit more salt. The staff was very friendly, noted our allergies carefully and the food came out very quickly. There restrooms were individual and clean.

Was craving Chinese so I decided to try this place. My order was ready when I got there. When I got home and tried it. It was pretty good. Even though their fried rice and chow mein looked like it was going to be salty due to the color but it wasn't. Same thing with their salt and pepper spare ribs. I thought the restaurant was quite large from the inside. I thought it would be a smaller space since it was located on a strip mall. There's parking in the back or in the residential if you can't find a space out in front.

I love coming here, everything I have tried so far is delicious. Service is always great and the food comes out fast. Very comfortable seating and it is always clean inside. I recommend the double delight fried rice, mongolian beef, chicken egg foo young, and the salted egg yolk shrimp + pumpkin

Been a min since we came here. We ordered the 3 dish for 48.95, salt and pepper spare ribs, beef stew clay pot, braised cod clay pot, in addition to Singapore rice noodle, beef gravy chow fun and stir fry ribs. Prices r def on the more expensive side here for chinese food. Food came out relatively quick, spare ribs were good crisp and good flavor, not too oily or fatty. Clay pots were a bit small, fish one did not have alot of fish, mainly tofu, beef stew decent, pretty tender. Noodle dishes were decent, lacking a bit flavor but thats how it usually be. Stir fry ribs not bad, good flavor with the black bean but the ribs were very small pieces, majority bone and alot of fat lol. Service was nice, they were friendly, checked in on us, they usually give the herbal jelly afterwards but they only had 3 left lols. Overall not bad but not the best place for canto food, still on the hunt for that.

This is a family restaurant located on Freeport blvd . Plenty of large tables for families dinner . The restaurant is divided into 3 sections for private party and walk in customers. Tonight there was a birthday party and I watched all the delicious dishes being delivered to the party room : lobster , crabs , steamed fish , etc . We truer their signature soy sauce chicken. The meat is tender and flavored with rose wine and soy sauce. We ordered the garlic stir fry snow pea sprouts 蒜茸豆苖; Golden egg yolk with pumpkin and mushrooms 黃金南瓜茶樹菇;garlic steamed shrimp over cellophane noodles 蒜茸粉蒸蝦。 The gave us free slow cooking soup with pork , beans and chicken . All the dishes are super delicious, full of umami ,,tender and cooked to perfection! Would like to come back to try other menu items . The restroom is ok and can be improved to be better . That s why I take off one star .

    Beef Over Rice with Vegetables

Didn't feel like cooking so decided on ordering from one of my go-to's, Far East Cafe! Decided on the Beef with Mixed Vegetables over rice. The order was ready as noted and pickup was easy and quick. Food was right off the stove....still steaming when I got home. Veggies were super fresh and tasted pretty good. Would have given 5 stars but if I remember right the last time I ordered it had chopped garlic which gave it a little more flavoring. Don't get me wrong still tasted good just would have been better with some garlic Definitely recommend and will be ordering again soon!

I'm staying with a friend for the weekend in Sacramento and we decided to gat some Chinese food to go, cause we really didn't feel like getting all dressed to go out. She's Chinese and said she knew of a good Chinese place nearby, so I said sure, you do the ordering. So she gets on the phone and orders, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Salted fish with chicken fried rice ( I never had this before), pan fried tomato beef chow mien and some pot stickers. That was a lot for just the two of us, but I'm paying, since I'm the guest in her house. We head over there and the food is ready just as we arrive. We get back and replat most of the food, cause who wants to get nice food out of a box! The pictures look better too! The pot stickers we had first cause they cool off fast. The Salty fish fried rice with chicken was interesting, I never had a flavor like that before, but I liked it! The honey walnut shrimp were very good, not all thick breading and gloppy sauce like some places. I really liked the tomato beef pan fried noodles, I guess it's call Hong Kong style. We had lots leftover, but I guess that's what Chinese food is good for!

Pretty solid Chinese comfort food! Been coming here for many years with the family, never lets us down. Dishes come out fresh, flavorful, and hot! My favorite is the seafood soup, and their fish and tofu. Huge portions, so it's very sharable. The restaurant is actually pretty large, they have 3 seperate dining rooms, and can accommodate big parties. We have a large family, so we always sit in the last room. We always request the same server, he always takes care of our family.

    Special New Year's day Jai
    Ed F.

it is Chinese New Year today. On this day, one should have respect for all living creatures. Which means non consumption with anything that has a face. So, what does one eat on this day: Jai. complete vegetarian entree with rice noodles. this entree is sometimes called Buddhas Delight. But Far East cafe has a special New Years Jai that will satisfy that craving. Top notch dish here.

This was a restaurant my family frequent quite often as I was growing up. Overall, the food was quite tasty. We came on a weekday for an early dinner. The food is quite authentic and with decent portion sizes. The dishes were all prepared quickly and ingredients were fresh. I am all about not soggy vegetables and these were on point. Service was very quick -- I think it helped that our family is acquainted with the staff here. The inside is clean and neat. There are a few parking spaces out front. They are located at the end of a strip mall on Freeport which can be quite a busy road. I enjoyed our meal here. Would recommend!

    Fook Keen DF vermicelli

After hearing from friends that Far East brought on a popular Master Chef from the Sacto area, the fam decided to revisit our fave Chinese restaurant after being away for weeks. The new chef's touch was quite noticeable...flavorful and new items on the menu. The following were new items that came out hot and fresh... ~Fook Keen fried vermicelli (better than competitor down the street) ~Zucchini w/ground pork (veggies fresh)! Old school w/noticeable improvements: ~ngow nam clay pot (tender beef & tendons w/fresh, perfectly cooked daikon ~honey walnut prawns (shrimp had snap to It not overloaded with mayo -pea sprouts w/garlic sauce (fresh & plenty) ~soy sauce chicken; no improvement needed ~egg plant w/pork clay pot (cooked just right, not too mushy or oily like other places. Slight kick to it but nothing to cry about. ~salt and pepper fish filets; tasty and not oily There were other new items shown on the TV monitor (whole crab with DF pumpkin, two egg/fried scallop fried rice, and numerous other dishes we will try next time). Service is always top notch here; Leslie and Lisa were attentive and friendly as always, along with the owner Susan. It's always a plus when she stops by not to just say "hi" but to also ask about family and such. You can tell she has a great rapport with customers (acknowledging each other and calling each other on a first name basis). Love the cleanliness of the establishment, from floors to wall (considering the restaurant has been around for decades). If you want a good old fashioned Chinese meal for lunch or dinner, family dinner or banquet for 100+, go visit the "new and improved" Far East if you haven't done so yet!

    Monique H.

The food is pretty good here, and the service is okay, and they were really nice. They don't ask if you want a drink when you order your food; at least they didn't when we went. It's a quiet corner café and and we felt comfortable sitting in a booth. It's very bright inside during the day but a sense of warmth at night with their lighting, not too bright. Their specials are amazing and a great price. Their potsticker sauce was very different and I never had that kind before. It was a very liquidy red sauce that had a vinegar taste, and I wouldn't eat it again. Overall, I would keep coming back here as I really enjoyed my experience and the food.

So I'm planning my next trip here this week so I can enjoy the amazing cucumber salad (so fresh, crunchy and garlicky), their pepper beef clay pot (sizzling rice at the bottom for the win and big portions), their spicy tofu (umm what?!? So crispy) and their awesome skewers (the pork belly is my favorite). The space is small, so if you're planning on dining in during peak times, you may want a back up or take it to go as they only have a handful of tables inside and a few tables outside. There is parking but it is shared with other business so can get busy. The service is wonderful! The hostess/waitress was very friendly and everything came out relatively quick. The clay pot does take some time (they need to cook up the rice to get that awesome crunchy bottom) so place your order for that first, and then look at the appetizers and skewers as they come out fast. It was nice enough that I tried to come here on a weekend night and it was packed full of families which is great but probably where I should have thought about it more. We went up to the counter and were told to wait a few minutes. I saw that a large table was clearing up so I didn't mind waiting. During this time a group came up behind us and I thought they were after us. One of the server waved in our general direction after cleaning up and splitting the table, so I thought they were gesturing to us since it has already been 10 minutes of waiting. Wrong, it was to the group behind us. Maybe it was communicated in mandarin that they had a reservation, I'm not sure. I waited for the next empty table, which was also taken by yet another group that magically appeared behind us as if they knew they were in line. I decided to leave after this. My issue is that I looked and talked to the staff multiple times and at no point, did they indicate there was a waitlist, nor did they take my name, or anything about people in front of us. It was really frustrating because being told it would be a few minutes set the wrong expectation. This is not the only place to get skewers so if you're left confused where you are in line, just come another weekday, speak mandarin, or go somewhere else like I did

Either way, I paid extra for my selection, and didn't get it. Am I Pissy? Yes. Am I honest? Also a Yes. 3 stars this trip, probably my last.
