I called the night we arrived in Tiburon, expecting an answering machine, but instead got Dave (the owner) while he was on a bike ride. He offered to bring me a pair of bikes that night! Suffering from some unexpected vertigo, I decided to postpone, and possibly nix my bike riding plans altogether. Dave #2 met us at the shop in Sausalito (an interesting old warehouse, former window hardware manufacturing facility) and he proceeded to set us up with maps, guidance on conditions, and fitting my wife with her helmet and bike fully so that there was no doubt that everything would fit perfectly. Dave#2 was so zen about everything and it was obvious that he takes the care and maintenance of the bikes to heart. Their bikes are in immaculate shape, not a spot of rust, no scratches, no dirt. While getting ready, he was so caring and considerate, asking multiple times if we wanted some water or to use the bathroom before we went, even offering gloves in case it was too cold. This is not what I expect from the type of business that takes care of visitors whom they may never see again. We took a ride out to the Golden Gate, and Dave kept in contact through the trip, even taking pix of us when we got back. Dave and Dave run a very special business and I would rate them 20 stars if I could.

Things started off great. The clerk was friendly and walked me through how to use the bike. We left…read moreand I soon noticed a noise but I hadn't ridden an ebike before so I didn't know what was normal. It turned out the rear brake was out of adjustment. However, I didn't figure that out until later. We set out and all was well. In Berkeley I got a flat tire. We called the emergency number. They said we can't rescue you from there, it's too far. They do rescue from Sausalito which is roughly 11 miles from SF, and Berkeley is roughly 13 miles from SF so that doesn't make sense. They said, go to a repair shop (my husband is basically a mechanic and we had a pump but the tire wouldn't take air because it needed a new tube.) The guy on the phone also suggested going to a gas station, even though we explained the tire wouldn't take air. By the way, they don't give you tools or anything. And-in case you don't know, replacing a rear tube/tire on an ebike is way more complicated and involved than a traditional bike because there is a drive train and wiring, etc. He said they would reimburse the cost up to $30. We were so lucky that we were in Berkeley, about a mile from REI which has a bike repair shop. I don't know what we or anyone would do if you were no where near a repair shop. REI replaced the tube and it cost $56. We continued on our way, and eventually returned to Bay City. They would not budge on the reimbursement and insisted on taking our REI receipt-not sure why, they weren't going to help us. If you aren't going to support your customers, you can't rent out bikes which do require constant maintenance and repair. The going rate to replace a rear tube on an ebike is $56. Reimbursing half of it is unacceptable. I would never go back here, and I cannot recommend it in good conscience.

We probably started a little too late to bike but Nick helped us out and let us return the bikes at…read morea nearby hotel since they closed at 5pm. We really wanted to bike around the city and to the bridge since we were only there for 3 days. Nick gave us a map and directed us on how to get to the bridge. They gave complimentary water and he walked us over to show us where to drop off the bikes. The bikes are basic and come with a little fanny pack in front so you can put small items in. The key to lock the bike is also in there if you decide to park it. Play with the gears before you take off and definitely before you go up a hill. Only thing I wished for was a bell. There wasn't a bell so we could ring for pedestrians to hear us. Pedestrians would be in the bike lane and not notice we were behind them. Also, it's a little dangerous with pedestrians walking down a hill and you're going at such a fast pace. You can request helmets which we opted out of and then decided we should have got them. All in all the service was great and the bikes did their job. Would definitely come back to them when I'm in San Fransico.

Which makes me believe that our experience was not the norm. So this is really for the owner/manager of the shop. However, that being said our experience was horrendous. The only real interaction one can have with a bike rental place is in the five minutes before and after your ride. When we got there the owner/manager was there and bemoaning the fact that his help wasn't there. Seemed a little flustered. Anyway, we were very quickly fitted with bikes and gear and away we went. ON THE WAY BACK, we consulted the map they provided us and it turns out they have moved and hence the map was INCORRECT. Like the box that says "best way back to our shop" turns out it was the old shop. After much analysis we find three addresses on the map - one is the correct one. When we get back to the shop I say to the late coming helper: "just giving you some feedback, this map is very misleading and one should be advised about it" Her comment?: FAIR COMMENT SIR.... As nonchalant a brush off as I've ever had. She needs a reprimand

I was so happy it just so lightly yet definitely ridden and worn in & the online checkout QR code was easy. appreciate the team vibe. The staff was on, busy yet cool and calm in nature and made for an easy way to explore this side of SF as a local like a tourist! And it was such a gorgeous saturday! I love San Francsico and now even more after exploring this side of the city on a bike, and a Cannondale Quick at that! Back to this location in SF As a San Jose native I never really considered a bike rental but wow, game changer, Highly recommend to all Bay Area natives to give sf another try, on a bike! They take old bikes that people…read moredon't want anymore and refurbish them and sell them at a reasonable price and a lot of the money goes to nonprofit. The people that worked there very nice. I'm very helpful and the price ranges on the bike depends on how sweet of a ride you really wanna get. Unlike a shop where you would buy a new the cost will not be that much. But these are professionals they do an incredible job of restoration on old bikes and putting them out and they look like they're brand new.

This is a fun way to pass an hour--rowing a boat in Aquatic Park. It's easier than expected to get…read morethe boat moving, harder than expected to keep it moving. The boats are maintained (and possibly built) by young people at Waterside Workshops and basic but sturdy. The hour rental ($40 total with life vests included) was plenty enough to row from one end of the lagoon to the other and back, with a quick snack break. We are not skilled rowers, and it was fine. I would check the schedule ahead of time, especially during the off season. We went late in the afternoon and were the only ones on the water. Because of our inexperience, I was glad that we weren't sharing the water with any water skiers or a crew team. Just egrets, pelicans, and cormorants.
