Quickest Drink I've ever had…read more There are certain things you have to do when you go to places you've never been before. In our case, whenever we go abroad, we have to check out the local Irish bar - because the Mrs is Irish and no matter where you go - there's an Irish bar. Whenever we go somewhere we know there's a gay bar - we have to go and check it out. So as you can imagine, we've been to a fair few not so pleasant gay bars in our time. Well done Bromley - you win our least favourite gay bar in the world competition so far. It's dark - so dark I couldn't work out what money I had in my hand to give over the bar. It's expensive - Over £6 for a spirit and mixer - I am not in a poesy soho bar. It's not a poesy soho bar - this of course would normally be a positive point, however it's so dated, dirty, falling apart that I begrudge paying so much for a simple drink. It also ponged - B.O. It's unfriendly - in a 'you're not from round here' kind of way. I'm sure if we had gone there at night it might have had a different atmosphere and wouldn't have been so awful. I so wanted this to be a new regular for me since moving further south, but I think I'll keep Bromley for shopping rather than drinking.

It has amazing karaoke and the weekends are always fun with music for everyone to enjoy. One of the reasons I love the Star And Garter so much is that everyone in there is extremely friendly and that includes the staff, because of this i have made many great friends and enjoy seeing them at the Star And Garter. With great drink promotions through the week I always look forward to going to the Star And Garter

The look and feel of the is on trend and it has ample seating downstairs. There is an upstairs area that I believe is used for a variety of different shows, burlesque and the such like. They have a variety of craft beers on tap alongside the regulars, Guinness, etc. They have a good range of spirits on the top shelf. I did not try the wines. It was told by someone who did that the house white was ok. The food menu is limited, burgers, chicken dish and veggie option. So traditional pub food. They had a DJ who played some good music, some tunes I really was not expecting!! So if you are down Nun Head way it's worth a visit.

The Old Nuns Head truly has carved itself out as the heart of this small community and lays on all sorts of events from ale festivals to karaoke (no bonus for guessing which of those I prefer! ;). They even have a yoga class that is run upstairs in a big hall, but am reliably informed it is run by a sexed up crazy lady - never know though, this could be EXACTLY what you are looking for?! The place is clean, has a wonderful atmosphere that they work hard to keep relaxed and cosy. The food menu is good, Sunday lunch is actually fantastic and there are even a wide range of board games for you and your mates to get caught up in over a cold one. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that they have recently extended the menu from traditional British food (of very healthy proportions) to include a Thai menu which does, I'm disappointed to report, leaves a lot to be desired. However, the Roasts and other traditional foods are still on the menu and still a big hit with me. Great pub, fantastic building, wonderful bar staff and is a real selling point of the area. Pop in, you won't be disappointed!

So I got the spinach, lentil and quinoa burger on a sourdough bun sans chips, for £11. The waitress asked if I wanted anything on top and I said no, deeply regretting my decision when the burger arrived. It was so dry, despite the little bits of chili sauce bits atop the burger, and completely tasteless. The bun had a fine dusting of flour atop that sprinkled everywhere. Dense and chewy bun but still lacking flavour. A few greens were sprinkled on the side. The venue is pretty cool with an ornate stage and gold lamé curtains, and red leather sofas, so I would give more stars if just for the venue. But I can't get over that sad, sad burger. There's also a vegan stew on the menu but with no description of what it is, I wouldn't trust it either. Dog-friendly so that's a plus!

A short bar with a few chairs and tables dotted around and a peculiar pair of large black double doors. Down the rabbit hole we go, for behind the black doors is a proscenium arch with tables, comfy chairs and chesterfields scattered around the auditorium. A rather impressive and welcoming space, that has played host to many a comedy night. A pub worth keeping an eye on, as it has been know to birth some pretty special comedy talent.

It's a little pricy for Bromley, £10-15 on the door but stays open till 4am so a bonus! Drinks are fairly priced, £2.50 for bottles and beers and a bottle of wine is around £15. No idea what there house champagne is but its lovely and at £30 a bottle, a steal if you ask me! Atmosphere is quite old school clubbing, lots of flashing lights and neon's and the music is commercial. After a few drinks it gets better and the dance floor is a fair size so you go shake your thing without shaking yourself onto anyone else! There is a top floor where I have been told they do karaoke on occasion but you can imagine the old men up there trying to reclaim there youth with the older crowd congregating up there. If your in Bromley and no where to go, this would be your best bet for fair priced drinks and a good old boogie!!

I generally don't carry mine anymore as I'm in my late twenties but they actually need it to scan in to log whose in the club which security wise I think is smart, music which fun and was quite early so wasn't overcrouded, the door fee of ten quid was pretty steeped and we kicked ourselves when we realised free tickets were being handed out in the street which we turned down!! So make sure you take any free tickets just incase! Bottle of prosecco was 25 quid which if you 2/3 of you actually works out ok as clubs go, the door guys were really friendly and helpful actually too, nothing worse than an asshole on the door!
