Good place for a good laugh. Although I can only say a few words about the free Wednesdays, when…read morethe emerging comedians try out their material. The audience is the judge and pick up the winner, who then is invited following week to show a little bit more. The level of funniness between the performers may differ vastly, but then on some other nights all of them are pretty good, so you never know, what you gonna get. The problem is you have to come at least 1 hour before the show starts and you have to buy at least 3 drinks per head. Recently they've changed the policy and when you book table, you have to give them the exact number of your guest. They will charge you £5 for anyone that doesn't turn up. They serve the typical pub food, chips and burgers and the choice isn't great, but the portions are decent. I have to agree with BlackDahlia, the nachos portions are gigantic and verrry cheesy:P I've encountered a problem with their tap beer though. I had to change my pints (on 2 occasion, 2 different beers) as they tasted awfully, as if they were weren't very fresh or something. If I can give you a tip: don't sit by the tables nearest to the stage as you'd be picked on and every single comedian will be making fun of you throughout the night:)

It's a little confusing because you find Comedy Cafe but you enter through the bedroom bar. If you're planning to eat, get there a little early and order at the ground floor bar. You can bring the food up but will need to pick it up downstairs. The spicy chicken sandwich was actually pretty good. No wonder it's so difficult to book in for a spot here - the place is really nice! Now I've done a handful of gigs around London in basements and 1st floors of pubs and this has the nicest and spacious space. The acts are varied but usually ends with a good penultimate and heading lining act which should be more experienced testing out new material. Can't complain too much because the show is free! But I highly recommend booking on the website in advanced because it does sell out.

Just stopped in to try it out! Ending up loving it! The first floor is a cozy little pub called…read more"Camden" where as upstairs in the pub is the free comedy show. We went on a Sunday and got in around 7:20 and got a little stamp on our hand and they started letting people in at 7:45 pm. The room was smaller than expected and could fit about 40 max, so if you have a large party, get there early!!! Also, the comedy is going to be a hit or miss since it's just people trying out new jokes. Be prepared to laugh your butt off but also be prepared to sit there in awkward silence... grab a pint downstairs and that will help through that!!

The stage is set up in an upstairs room that got stuffy really quickly with all the bodies in there! We chuckled throughout the evening and even though everyone has different views on what's funny, there was defiantly something for everyone. I personally wants a fan of the toilet humour, but to each his own, others seemed to find it hilarious! The acts stared at 8pm and we were treated to 10 acts with a 10 minute interval In the middle. The only downfall of the evening was when we all piled out to replenish our beverages in the bar down stairs, we almost missed the start of the second half because there were only 3 members of staff to serve the 100 of us that flooded downstairs! Plus the punters that were just there in the pub. Bad planning!

The stage was located in the middle with the audience sitting all around it. It felt like we were part of the play. It was nothing like the theaters in the US. We loved it. I was so excited to be there for one of the previews of 'Other Desert Cities' and curious as to how that would work with the theatre having just been reconfigured to 'in the round'. It actually worked very well, and while we in the upper level, I can imagine it would be particularly interesting to be in the seats that were vitrually part of the set. I think I spied Melvin Bragg Down there. Who-ever it was he seemed to enjoy the show as much as us. OK perhaps it wasn't what I would call must-see theatre but it had a little something for everyone, and despite its dark nature in places, we had plenty of knowing belly laughs too. Since press night its been garnering a solid four stars. Perhaps because the show was in preview we were able to bag reasonably priced tickets at the box office direct. The staff were very friendly and helpful when we popped in the day before to check on availability. If there was a down-side it was that the seats were uncomfortable and the leg room very cramped, and thats coming from someone who is just 5ft & 2 inches! My companion had another foot on me and found the cramped seating a distraction from the show. Perhaps the more expensive seats are more comfortable. Wish everywhere had seats as cosy and roomy as The National Theatre! Conveniently located just along the road from Waterloo station for tube, rail and taxis.

I've been to a couple of their nights which are always full of surprises and laughter (of course) but have also attended a couple of their classes for improv. They're simply amazing! Steve is an amazing teacher, making sure everyone follows and has a great time. He also has a knack to making everyone feel at ease and like he's learning just as much from us as we are from him. I can't recommend these courses highly enough as I think that everyone should have a bit of improv in their life, just to spice things up! Plus it teaches us some great life skills in listening, teamwork and being confident. Can't wait to start another course with them and get my friends improvising too!

A more amateur act in the beginning, and a truly professional, mind-blowing, knee-slapping-kind-of-hilarious improv musical as the second act. I've been to improv shows before, and there is always a scene or two that just simply doesn't work. But the second act was truly amazing - every single scene was absolutely hilarious, and every single performer was insanely talented. My favorite (everyone's favorite, really) moment was probably when the Discount Dentist discovered his true calling as the Penis Whisperer after being disowned by his mother, Ursula the Sea Witch. Would recommend!
