Not sure if I'll go back. So many personalities. Had my hair cut by four different stylists. The recent haircut I received was an Asian lady who kept pulling at my bangs in order to cut them. Then proceeds to tell me to stiffen up. Geez I was relaxed. Didn't like my bangs. This last time I went, I told stylist granny I had longer bangs on the side. I didn't want them cut. Just a trim. Feel like she cut too much now I look like Edna Mode. I didn't like the result. I told her I didn't want my hair straightened but she had to straighten for her "cutting" purposes. Then before going in I called and asked how much for a trim it was $30, after the trim, granny said it was $35. Was it cuz she flattened it? I didn't oblige, I should have. Oh my goodness !! I needed this haircut quick and it was pretty last minute .. I was scared it would be a bad decision. but oh my God guys suggest Desiree she is amazing!! I can't rate the entire place, I'm only rating Sylvia. I've had my hair cut by her twice. The first time I loved it. The second time I went to the car and cried. I went in and showed her a picture. I thought she had understood but then she started cutting and cutting and then she took out the clippers. When she was done my hair looked NOTHING like the damn picture. I was pissed and felt like not paying anything or at least paying half. But I paid and I tipped her. But I will never go back there again. PATTY SAVED MY HAIR!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! This review is a month overdue. I had my hair colored at a different salon in Brea -- the guy completely screwed up the color (See pic: he left my hair a brassy orange color with a "black hole" at the back of my head), and I was desperately looking for someone else to fix my hair. Patty's name kept coming up on Yelp, and boy was I glad I went to her. She is so knowledgeable, professional, and just a delight to be around. I can be a bit of an introvert when it comes to people I just met, but she was so easy and fun to talk with and she made me feel comfortable. I've never gone to the same stylist more than twice. Either I didn't feel a connection with them and/or I was not satisfied with the end results. But with Patty, I feel like she gets me. She was patient and took the time to listen to what I had envisioned for my hair. She went above and beyond, gave me tips on how to style my hair, and even stayed a bit after the store closing hour to finish my hair. I'm done with the more expensive, impersonal salons. This place is unsanitary rude & unprofessional.. Jose was my stylist. i scheduled a root retouch for $65 .. he was fake "nice" complementing me the entire time til the end. He applied my color & had me wait in a dirty chair full of hair. once finished he washed my hair & began to blow dry, not once was i asked if i wanted this done. when done he showed me my results, i asked him how much more it'd be for a trim, he said well so far its $105 for a retouch and style so... i said what?? what style? i never booked anything other than a retouch. he said how my hair is so long he had to use extra dye but he wasn't going to charge me for that, which is a lie, length has nothing to do with my root regrowth, & why did he not say that before beginning the service? then he said im just charging you for the style if you didn't want your hair styled why didn't you stop me? lol .. whattt how am i supposed to know you're charging me 40$ to dry my hair?? that is not even a style.. as a professional and a person w common sense he could have asked if i wanted my hair dried for 40$ more lol. he completely changed character once i spoke up, snatched the robe off my neck and said fine take my work for free! this and that, being so rude and aggressive in tone in front of other customers. i was in disbelief of the big tantrum he was throwing bc i did not let him play me for $40.. i have never heard of a salon charging for drying your hair after color, or adding services w out first asking if you want that! i feel sorry for people who have dealt with his behavior & for the ones who don't know how to speak up for themselves in a situation like this. i will be reporting him and this salon. this is my first and last time coming here. read more

I came in looking for a trim, I had some dead hair and split ends that I wanted to get rid of. The whole appointment went great, they were very friendly and gave many good tips on how to keep my hair healthy. I had looked at my hair in their mirror real quick and I thought "okay it's cute not bad". All was well, but as I was driving and feeling my hair, I feel my left side very choppy and doesn't flow like the right side. I get home and my sister tells me that it looks very chopped and the layers are off. I look in the mirror and yes, it looks very chopped! I'm so disappointed and upset. I've always had layers and they've never looked like this. Now I'm going to have to go get it fixed and pay again. But I'm never going back to Fantastic Sams. Once I got in her chair told her what I wanted she was making faces and you could clearly tell she didn't want to do my hair. I have long thick hair and wanted it half up half down with all of my hair crimped and one piece of my hair sticking out from the front and the half up with gel. She wanted to put gel in my hair first before crimping my hair which to me didn't make sense to put gel then crimp because the top of the half up do wouldn't have any volume if she were to crimp it afterwards and the hair would be flat, she then said she couldn't do my hair for me. Which I had no problem with I could do my own hair I just didn't want to because my hair is so long which means it takes so long to do it myself. Was just a waste of my time because I had somewhere to be within the next 2 hours. read more

That saying, you get what you pay for applies here.. this is the second time i came here and had a horrific experience.. i guess it's my fault for coming back. I first came here sept 2019 to get my hair cut. I just had my baby and was going back to work and my hair was really long. (Prenatal/pregnancy/post natal pills) I asked for a trim and came out with 6 inches off my hair!!!!! And it was uneven!! I called and said it's not straight this needed to get fixed and patty (supposedly the best one there with the most experience) took me in and had me look down and trimmed the back even more after all the hair that had been cut off! She insisted short hair looked great especially since i had my baby. I was like okay fine i guess a new look is fine. A year later this year in 2020 i went back, again my hair being long.. i asked for front framing layers i was not going for my usual trim/blunt cut. Half way through the hair cut patty picks up all my crown and begins to cut further than my ear, which left me with a choppy top... and long ends like a freaking mullet!!!! She then asked oh you want front or all around layers like she had forgotten!!! (I will show photos..) Patty said it's cause people usually want layers all around and i specifically told her i just wanted layers in the front not all around the head.. it was so short on top!!! i told her i didn't think it looks nice at all she insisted it was even and at an angle and kept telling my hair was thinner on the right side and that's my fault not hers.. my hair was was beautiful and long and it got F***** UP! (I still paid and tipped her!) She told me to come back if i wanted her to fix it.. um NO THANKS i will NEVER go back and i dont recommend anyone come here unless you want your hair messed up. I bought vitamins and oil to grow out my hair that's how bad it is. The worst part and was telling me that she should cut it even shorter in the front. Shorter than my chin! Didn't even take the hairs out around my mask. I had to ask to take the mask off so she could see my face shape!! I was showing her the pictures i was referring to like i did in the beginning and told her it looks NOTHING LIKE THAT PHOTOS I SHOWED HER INITIALLY.. she said it was the way they styled the girls hair in the photo not the cut and she has different texture than mine. WHY WOULD SHE NOT MENTION THAT FROM THE BEGINNING. Again she did not take accountability and was shifting the blame on me.. i made an appt and even had to wait 30 mins before i was seen.. no smile, no conversation.... not the hair cut i wanted( how do you botch a basic haircut) just overall a horrible experience i felt like a 5 year old child just got scissors and cut my hair.. anyways ladies or gentlemen.. go find somewhere else.. spend the extra money other wise you will end up spending extra money anyways to fix your messed up hair.. i dyed my hair darker hoping that it was look better but it did not.. i will be going somewhere else.. read more
