This review is for the spa only. I booked a prenatal massage and indicated on the registration card that I did not want them to massage my ankles because I understand that is bad for the baby. 1. My biggest issue is that I'm pregnant and was dying for a foot rub. I have had upwards of 50 full body massages in my life and have never had one that did not include the feet. But they didn't rub my feet at all. They claimed they do not do that for pregnant women (not stated on the services menu) but I explicitly said not to massage my ankles- you would think they would realize that I expected my feet to be rubbed. Then they told me that I should've said something. Why should I be keeping track of the time and interrupt my relaxing massage to make sure you're doing what I paid you to do??? And how can you possibly massage a pregnant woman and not touch her feet?? Absurd and lazy in my opinion. Also my husband got a regular full body massage and said they barely touched his feet. 2. they do not have a proper prenatal massage bed- no hole in the middle for the belly so I had to lie on my sides alternating so she could massage whatever side was facing up. The problem:after she massaged my right side, I had to spend 15 minutes squished on that side which basically undid any relaxation of my muscles and was so uncomfortable. Don't waste your time. This place isn't bad for nails and waxing but when it comes to massages spring for a real day spa experience. I left this place frustrated and upset and not relaxed at all. This place is amazing! Once you step into the spa area it's immediate relaxation. The staff is great, and knows exactly what they are doing. I got the spa week facial, and I've never been more relaxed. My skin feels amazing, and being someone with sensitive skin I was surprised at the great results. The finishing touch is the relaxation lounge you get to relax in after, where they provide tea and snacks. I will most definitely be back. read more

Fantastic Spa And Nail has many services other than manicures and pedicures. I have had my lash extensions done for over two years now. It is one of the most relaxing experiences as it is done in the spa. Jackie is meticulous when applying lashes so they look natural, beautiful and are comfortable . I usually get my nails done here and they do a great job, very relaxing and the wait is short. I used to get my eyebrows waxed here for about a year but the last time I went some new girl was waxing my eyebrows and a piece of skin ripped off! I have been going to Jackie for a massage for years!!! There is no one like her!!! I call it my "hour in heaven"! Had a Mani/Pedi there for my cousins wedding. Very busy place on a friday in the summer. Was probably the best french manicure I ever had.....that lasted! Even though it wasn't gel color there was still some type of topcoat that made it very strong. +++Instruments are sterilized in an autoclave...huge plus!!!++ (i'm in the medical field and would go back just because of this even if the mani wasn' t that great at least it's sterile instruments) 4 stars based just on this! Pedicure...Wish more time was spent on scrubbing my feet/callus--which I don't really have a lot of but the little spots I want gone after a spa pedicure. I was given a fantastic 10 min massage after my mani/pedi that I didn't even pay for....she just threw it in. (maybe b/c i'm prego? lol) would have loved to see more time spent on cleaning pedi chair after i was done, but they were super busy. There is an entire separate spa side that i'm definitely interested in trying out...they do eye lash extensions...wish there was a review on that service...nervous to try it out if I don't know how someone else experience went. They have taken a turn for the worse here. As it turns out, not all of their employees are properly trained. Today I ended up with the same person that did a very poor job on New Year's Eve and ended up walking out with wet legs and feet into the cold because she was being unprofessional. When I told her that the angle at which she was holding my foot was painful, she shrugged her shoulders and forcefully grabbed my foot twice to hold it in that same position (with the sole of my foot firmly pressed against the edge of the square hard foam surface of the foot rest). She then started grumbling and complaining to the man at the front desk. I asked for someone new, which started a discussion across the floor between the man at the front desk and others in the "spa." Realizing that the rest of my time there would surely not be pleasant and remembering that this is a luxury, I decided it is not too much to ask to at least be comfortable, I gave them a few dollars for having washed my feet and removed my nail polish and left. I went to Joy Nails at 345 Merrick Avenue and had a wonderful experience . . . for LESS than they charge at Fantastic Nail & Spa. read more

I've been to this nail salon several times, but this time will probably be my last. In the past I have liked the salon very much, particularly because of the atmosphere. However, this time when I was there, all of the technicians were talking and laughing very loudly, and not in English. It was very rude, and they didn't seem to care enough to pay attention to the customers. Furthermore, she barely gave me a massage when my nails were drying (okay, no big deal), but when I went to give her a tip, she waved me over to her because she was sitting in the corner talking to other technicians instead of getting up to meet me half way...didn't seem like she cared enough to get a tip, which she didn't really deserve in the first place. There are plenty of other places in the neighborhood to get a manicure and will probably try other places before returning here. read more

Went here with my sister for the 50 minute spa week massage and 55 minute spa week body treatment. I go for a lot of massages and facials and I will say while these were not the worst they certainly weren't the best. I will also mention that I myself am an esthetician that works in a very busy spa and I am extremely mindful of timing. That being said, I made an appointment for 5:30 and I arrived about 5:25. My massage started at 5:35 which I could understand but it was cut and ended at 6:20 exactly. I was then rushed into the Vichy room for a scrub that was sort of sloppy. The room and the water were freezing cold. The description of the body treatment was a 55 minute body package including a body polish scrub, hydrotherapy , and Vichy shower and a 15 minute steam experience. My treatment only was a quick scrub and rinse in the vichy shower I was sitting in the relaxation room by 7 pm. My 105 minutes of treatment was barely 90 minutes. Also, the draping technique used by the technician was not proper spa draping.. So because it was a special that makes it ok so skimp on the service and cut timing? Unfair. It is safe to say I won't be in any hurry to take advantage of spa week specials anymore considering the type of service you receive. I still have a generous tip but I do not feel that it was worth the $100 I paid my sister encountered the same thing during her appointment. You shouldn't advertise a 55 minute service and then give one that's actually only about 30. I don't plan on coming back here again. read more

My major issue is not the service provided by the manicurist or the spa staff rather the receptionist and staff at the front desk. I have consistently bought my wife gift certificates there and in a service industry the first exposure you have with a business is the person up front. They are consistently short and dismissive when either dealing with them in person or on the phone and often act less then professional. The issue has gotten worse so I will sacrifice travel and convenience and find another place that values there customers with courtesy and respect. read more

I really like this spa. It's small but I don't mind because it's not so busy when I go. The massages I had were mixed, some amazing & some so-so. I guess it depends on who you get. I love the fact that when I leave from their facials, my face is not always so red or blotchy. Only negative criticism I have is that their add on's are quite expensive. $40 for the mask is half the cost of the full facial. I do not use the nail services as I feel the staff is not always friendly. They are overly busy & very quick with the nail services. I always feel like they are talking about me. But overall, great little place. I love that when I spend certain amounts on gift certificates, I get a non-expiring $20 to use for myself. It really comes in handy when I want to pamper myself for a change. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

My negative review is for the spa mani and pedi only. My husband booked a spa day for me and the package included a spa mani and pedi which is advertised to take place in a private VIP lounge. The lounge was just ok. It had two massage chairs. I was directed to sit in the right chair that didn't work. The other chair had someone's jacket thrown on it. I like to think of myself as easy going. The VIP lounge had sliding doors for privacy. My nail tech left the room a few times and left the door open. As I wanted to relax I asked her to close the door. I asked her nicely and thanked her when she closed the door. I didn't mind the door remaining open but other workers walked by on their cell phone and were speaking loudly. This didn't make for a relaxing experience. My issues with her service are as follows: she didn't provide the hot stone massage we paid for, she asked personal questions and asked to see a picture of my husband (I thought this was intrusive) and I declined to share by telling her I did not have a picture on my phone, but the worst moment occurred when the nail tech suddenly grabbed my belongings (that's right they didn't offer a closet for my jacket or other belongings) and ordered me to grab something and marched out of the VIP room to the general area. This occurs shortly after I asked her to close the door. I was upset by her actions as we paid for the VIP lounge. I calmly asked her why I was moved and informed her that her actions spoiled my experience and that I wished to move back to the VIP lounge. So the moral of the story here is if you book a package ensure you read the description before hand ( my husband bought the package for my birthday, I'm nosy so I peeked at the website before going) and ensure you are treated with respect and consideration. Her behavior truly ruined the whole experience. It's a shame that her actions ruined the whole experience and negated the hard work of her colleagues on the other spa side of the facility who were very nice ( I enjoyed my facial and massage). While the facial and massage were not the best I've ever had it was nice and they treated me well. read more

Horrible experience for me and my daughter. We were exiting CVS and I suggested we get our nails done at this place. The Asian women said pick a color and soon after we were seated with two Asian technicians who proceeded to speak in their language. The one technician who had a name tag SONIA commented on my daughter's nails in English and asked if she bit them . She continued to make comments to her coworker in her language and even held my daughter's hand up for coworker to see. I saw that my daughter was getting upset and asked for them not to comment any further. Just do our nails. WELL they smirked and continued . I asked for a manager who I could only speak to after immediately exiting the store after the technician Sonia held my daughters arm and demanded she pay. Which I paid anyway and our nails wee not even polished. I tried to contact Frank the owner and he was not at the Merrick location. My daughter was very upset and the unidentified woman claiming to be a manager told me over the phone that her workers did not say anything.i could only respond that she was not even there when it happened. And to tell you the truth the place looks worn and not too clean. Never ever again the poor customer service is far from fantastic. read more

There are 2 women that work at the front desk who are EXTREMELY snobby and rude. They don't know how to treat clients well at all. I am nothing but nice to them every time that I go here (only because it is closest to my house) and they never make me want to return. They're manicurists are nice, but don't know how to paint nails that well. My favorite nail technicians are Leah and Michelle because they too are sweet girls, but also just have better skill than the other technicians. Today I inquired about a spa special that they are offering that I wanted to buy for my friend as a gift, and the woman at the desk just kept repeating that they can't put it on a gift card looking at me like I was too dumb to understand her each time. Extremely rude. I would have bought another spa package that I could have put on a gift card, but I decided she didn't deserve my business. What a horrible employee to have representing the business. The only thing they have going for them is that the nice interior attracts customers, that will soon find out for themselves this place is not worth their time. read more
