Out of all the reviews, I can't understand why i haven't done one for the amazing folks at Fanatic U. As soon as we entered, we were greeted warmly, and being Deaf wasn't an issue. For whatever reason, Detroit has a reputation for being rude, but that has never been our experience, and I've been all over Detroit. They have an unbelievable selection of everything Detroit sports-related, including current apparel because all leagues change their merchandise annually (i.e., Draft hats, City Connect, etc.), older merchandise, and a vast selection of items on sale. I wish more folks would shop local instead of big-chain stores because Fanatics U deserves the business. I found items for the Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings, and all the purchases were cheaper than the chain stores mentioned above, and, of course, than the arenas and stadiums, which are always significantly more expensive. And i know folks like my cousin who always tells me, "I get hats at the stadium because it is my thing." I tell him, "It might be your thing, but it's not made at the stadium. After you've worn it, does it really matter?" For example, he bought the Detroit Lions New Era 2026 Sideline 5950 for $65.00 at the stadium, while Fanatics U sells it for $49.99. Also, they sell autopgranoh photos and other items, which was cool to view, but I'm not really a collector like i have been in the past. Still, come check out this amazing Detroit-sports-centric store. read more

Very friendly service, prices, not too high. I would recommend this place to buy lions, Red Wings and Tiger jerseys..

NFL Draft season.. here we go! I want to thank Action Sportswear's Fanatic U for carrying Detroit Lions officially licensed gear and sports memorabilia! I am happy that Fanatic U carries the Detroit Lions' NFL and G-III Sports officially licensed "Beverly Hills Edition" letterman coat. When I saw NFL's future Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson and NFL quarterback Jared Goff wearing the Detroit Lions "Beverly Hills Edition" jacket... I knew I had to find this great iconic jacket. I placed and received my order for the Detroit Lions "Beverly Hills Edition" jacket from Fanatic U not long ago. I had a question after my purchase and there was a prompt correspondence that addressed my inquiry. Excellent customer service! I am really happy with this order and I've gotten positive feedback about this jacket. Me being late to the boat in finding out about this jacket... it was a "hard find" and Fanatic U was the one store I found that carries this "official release." There are online stores that used "photos" of this coat, but are not the officially licensed "Beverly Hills Edition" jacket. When I found Fanatic U carried it and I read the details of the Detroit Lions "Beverly Hills Edition" jacket description and saw that Fanatic U is based out of the Motor City... I knew that this store is the "real deal" for Detroit Lions gear and sports memorabilia. I had to get this "Beverly Hills Edition" jacket! Fanatic U rocks! I plan to shop again and again at Fanatic U! Kind regards, Jason Tom Detroit Lions' fan from Honolulu read more

Fanatic U - Got my NFL officially licensed and G-III Sports Detroit Lions "Beverly Hills Edition" Letterman Coat from Fanatic U. - Sports Wear Near Me - Garden City, Michigan

Horrible , Poor customer service I recorded Jennifer the sales representative tell me she doesn't care about anything to do with the exchange transaction. I've asked for the owner Joe to call me and discuss his employee's attitude so they ended up finding the order to complete am exchange I ended up taking my item back I'll keeping it and I'll refuse to buy anything from any fanatic U .... Also once I shopped for an item that I was going to exchange the item for. I found it 60% cheaper online at snips , they have a better return policy more options to choose from and a cleaner better staff to deal with. read more

If you need sport-o gear, this is the place to go! It's huge with a great selection for men, women and kids. It's a great place to buy gifts for your sports fan. I was attending a game and needed some things last minute and they had more than I need, and in plus sizes too. It's really nice to be able to go somewhere in person instead of online, and the ladies were very helpful and nice, though I could see they were very busy. It's nice to be able to see and feel the fabrics! I look forward to continuing to support them. read more

I placed an order for a jersey online as a Birthday gift. Now they cancel my order and say the item is not available. Not a good way of doing business. Won't ship here again. read more

Visited over Christmas vacation. They were very busy but staff was doing a great job keeping everyone helped. Offering text services for when the new Division championship opens were delivered, etc . Also special kudos to Jen who found a lost earring of mine and made sure it was mailed to my home as I'd already left back to Florida. Will be my go to store for any team merchandise! read more

UPDATE - Fanatic U has blocked me from commenting on any posts of theirs on social media. Yet another example of bad business, being unable to handle valid criticism of their terrible customer treatment and policies. What a shame for a local business to act this way. ORIGINAL REVIEW - I attended the Stadium Series game in Denver, but the selection of Red Wing merchandise offered was minimal. After the game the next day, my friend suggested I use a 40% coupon offered for Leap Year. I dont like buying hats online since the fits are all so different. Since I live in Oregon but would be visiting family the week after the game I figured I'd use "store pick-up" to try on the hat before deciding. Unfortunately the hat simply didn't have the desired fit. What is more unfortunate is the awful customer service that came next. I informed Nicole (I believe is her name) that the hat didn't fit and I just didn't see anything else that struck me, so I'd like a refund. She stated that because it was a "Stadium Series" hat, I could not get my money back. I told her that the only thing indicating the hat is stadium Series is the sticker that comes off anyway. I said I came here to try it on when that wasn't an option in Colorado or Oregon, and she simply refused to budge. Making matters worse, Nicole then told me that because I used a 40% coupon the store offered, I could not get a refund! Not only is this a complete scam, it is not even disclosed on the website. You penalize customers for using coupons? I wanted to support a local business, but this refusal to make things right over $20 cost them an entire family's worth of business. I do not recommend this store, its employees, or the experience of dealing with their shady policies that penalize customers for shopping there. read more

I disagree with the person who wrote the 11/28/10 review. I live in Arizona (first 23 years were spent in MI) and I've been shopping at Fanatic U since 2002 when both sons were playing travel hockey. When my kids were younger, every visit to Michigan was capped off by a shopping trip to Fan U, where we found a large selection of Red Wing apparel, most of it not sold at JLA. Over the years we have found the most unique items and have also purchased Tigers, Lions, Pistons, UM & MSU apparel there, too. One of my son's favorite Red Wing jackets was on sale there a few years ago (he recv'd it for Christmas) and it's now signed by a dozen or so Red Wing players (we're lucky enough to live five minutes from where they used to practice before games vs. the Coyotes). At the many Red Wings games we've attended at Jobing.com Arena dozens of people have asked him where he got that jacket. Yes, the aisles are somewhat cramped ... but if you are of the "treasure hunt" mind when shopping there you will find some gems -- things that you won't find anywhere else. The black Sidney Crosby t-shirt with the crying baby penguin on the front and "Cry Baby" above Crosby's number on the back is another outstanding example of unique t-shirts we've bought there. Can't tell you how many Pens haters offered us money for it. The red and white crystal-encrusted Red Wing logo pin I bought for myself received supremely bling-worthy praise when I went to see the RWs play the Ducks in the '08 playoffs in Anaheim, and I declined to sell it to many people who made offers. BUT! ... if you are a person who needs everything all nice and tidy, lined up in a row and never out of place you might find Fanatic U to be a bit challenging to maneuver. Asking questions is NOT discouraged, and the salespeople are more than happy to find what you are looking for if they carry it. Of course, you can always settle for what the professional venues offer, but you are missing out if you don't give this place a try. (The parking lot IS very small, as referenced in another review, so enter from the side street on the EAST side of the building... and although I gave it two stars for "moderate" pricing, some items can be pricey -- but not any higher than you'd pay at a venue.) read more

I was looking all over for a Red Wings jersey for my granddaughters Christmas present and found what I was looking for at the Garden City location the staff was very helpful and friendly read more

This is the place to go for Detroit sports apparel. As far as pricing goes, Fanatic U is like getting merch at a game. You won't find sales or discounts here, except for a few off-season clearance items, but they do have a great selection that you won't find anywhere but the stadium. I'm not sure about Wings or Lions stuff, but I know they carry bigger sizes in Tigers shirts. They have Wings, Lions, Tigers, Michigan and State items, including: clothing, hats, home decor, memorabilia, DVDs, jewelry, baby items and car decals. Parking is tight at this location. It's easiest to turn on to the side street and park on the West side of the building. read more

I am extremely dissatisfied with this company. They have horrible customer service and an incompetent employee in charge of internet sales. I ordered an item that was sold out on many other websites (the sites where I usually shop). The site looked reputable enough, so I figured why not take a chance since I could not find the shirt elsewhere. I ordered on a Wednesday and paid for 2 day USPS shipping. When a week went by and I had not received my item, I called the store to inquire. I was told that their tracking information indicated the package had been delivered on Saturday. I never received any tracking information from the store, so I could not track it myself. At this point, I realized a mistake with the post office had occurred since I never received the package. I took numerous steps to try to locate the item with my local post office. I visited the post office in person, spoke directly to my mail carrier and also called the headquarters' consumer affairs department. All attempts were to no avail. The carrier had likely mistakenly delivered my package to the wrong address and scanned it as "delivered." No matter what happened, I still did not have my package, for which I had paid $51. So far, I still had received zero assistance from FanaticU. I contacted the store and further explained the problem. I also mentioned that I could not file a claim with the post office since the sender had not insured the package. My only resolution at this point was one of two things: either have the store resend the package at no charge or fully reimburse me. I was told by the customer sales representative that I should email the store owner. Five days have gone by and I still have heard nothing. I finally called back today and was told that the owner would offer me a discount on a future order, but would do nothing to fix my previous problem. My main complaint is as follows. I acknowledge that the USPS was at fault for the delivery error. However, this store had brutal customer service. I was a first-time customer and am extremely dissatisfied. By not insuring the package, they took the known risk of the item being lost in the mail and should compensate me accordingly. Had they insured the package (at a small cost to the store), they would have been able to file a claim and I would have been made whole. The problem here is the unprofessional and extremely incompetent way I have been treated. I have not once been able to speak with the owner, nor did he respond to the email I sent. I have paid $51.53 and received nothing. Somehow the store seems satisfied with offering me a discount on a future order as adequate compensation for my trouble. Why would I ever order from them again? read more

You have to admire little upstart retailers like Fanatic U that see a niche available for local sports memorabilia that is not well served by the big box stores or internet retailers. But walking the aisles at Fanatic U, you get the sense that these guys are phoning it in; a feeling that was confirmed when I noticed the tattered American flag hanging on by one grommet atop the store as I left. Their goods are sort of spread haphazard through the cramped store in no particular order. The selection is overpriced and largely consistent of plain junk. Does any one really need a signed 8X10 color glossy photo of Jason Grilli? read more

I've been to the different places for michigan, Detroit team gear but this place is wall to wall tiger. Lions, Michigan and even MSU . Great selection great prices doesn't look like much from out side but go here and get your gear on . I'll be back the next time I come from Texas . read more

I love this place! They carry all the great items I love, and the staff are all very friendly!

Went here during their Black Friday (Tigers World Series) everyone working was extremely friendly, very attentive to their customers and never got annoyed answering the same question multiple times from each person that walked in "Do you have dugout hoodies from the World Series?" (Which they hadn't got their shipment yet) but handed everyone a card and gave us all a good time to come back and get them. Fanatic U, you won me over. read more

I wish I did not have to write this review, but I feel compelled to. I have shopped at this Fanatic U on multiple occasions and have spent at least $800 in clothing there in the past. I am a big supporter of small businesses and try to support them whenever I can instead of going to mega chain stores. The reason for the low rating is because the customer service is that appalling. On numerous occasions when trying to return or exchange items I am given an interrogation or cheated even when I have the receipt, items have not been worn, tags are still attached and I am there within 7 days, following their return policy to the letter. There selection is very good which is why I kept giving them another chance, but after my last experience, I will not be back. My last return/exchange the receipt handed to me had an amount listed in "change given" and the staff would not give me my money back when I exchanged for a cheaper item. Bummed to have to go somewhere else for my D stuff. read more

I purchased several different items for Tigers Opening Day, because the weather always varies so much in late March/April here in Michigan. When I made my $120+ in purchases, I specifically asked if I could return what I didn't end up wearing that day. They assured me that I could. Needless to say, when I returned the weekend after Opening Day (the weekend right after was Easter), they told me that I couldn't return the single item that I didn't end up wearing. They pointed to a sign on the wall. I asked why I was told something different and they said they still couldn't help me. I've shopped here quite a bit over the years, but this is the last time. I'm had horrible customer experiences here before - where the employees are too busy talking to each other to be bothered to answer a question or help a customer find a size. But in the world where I can shop online and get to return the items I didn't wear, why would I shop someplace who cannot match the same customer-centric return policies? I try to shop local, but this store makes shopping local look like a big mistake. Get with the times Fanatic U! Change your return policies or make an exception for the customers who spend well over a hundred bucks and only wanted to return a $20 t-shirt. There is a reason your parking lot and store are always empty when I go there! read more

I stop in here when I'm in the Detroit area for Red Wings and other Michigan-related sports stuff. Great selection of t-shirts and goodies.

I only buy Detroit sports gear from here and have never had any problems. I thought I would order online from them for once since I was unable to make it home before this holiday season. I placed an order and not even an hour I was told that they were unable to fulfill my order and would not be getting anymore until after the holiday. I am not a happy woman right now. read more
