1. This place is beautiful 2. Service is awesome. I was very pleased with the attention we received. Enough to be friendly and attentive but not overbearing. 3. The cafe was a nice touch. We sat at the bar area and just chatted. Next time I plan to go sit in the patio area. 4. The plants were a range in prices so that's good. 5. The reason I can't give it a 5 star is because they are pricey. Truly pricey. I've been to many plant shops and I was quite surprised at the ticket prices here
Nurseries always charm me and have a soft spot on my heart. Family tree nursery reminds me of a small version of Merrifield Garden Center in Northern VA! This place is so organized, clean and inviting. Dedicated sections inside and out: annuals, herbs/vegetables, Halloween decor by entrance, firewood/soil by the right side of the building to accommodate easy loading of big items. I didn't venture inside and walk the aisles so that will be reserved for a later visit. While I didn't help I was a few feet by the guest services and I overheard the staff being very helpful to other customers. Didn't purchase anything but noticed their annual plants were on sale, at least giving patrons better value for their purchase.
This place is wonderful and fun. The help here is all very knowledgeable. And so helpful. I wanted to point out that today I had a young lady, AndreyAnn helping me. she was so personable. She only works on Monday, Wednesday's and Fridays. However I have always had great people helping me and unfortunately did not get their names. I recommend all of them! This place has hundreds of beautiful plants for inside and outside. Trees, bushes, everything you can think of and they have seems like a couple of areas coffee bar and people can go in there and socialize or work on their laptops. So very relaxing feeling all over there. Myself, I find it impossible to go there without buying a plant or something. I bought this pretty little house plant today!
I wanted to buy everything here! More than a nursery with the cutest merchandise on the inside. They also have a coffee shop with an indoor/outdoor seating area so perfect for nice spring days. The people working there were just enough attentive without being too much. The merchandise was a little price but not overly for a boutique style place.
Best service! Everyone is always so helpful and knowledgeable. We enjoy taking their succulents classes. They have everything ready for you and make it easy for you to put things together. Highly recommend this place! They even have a wonderful little coffee shop! So relaxing
What's not to love about Family Tree!?!?! It's the hands down best. So much more than a gorgeous plant shop, Family Tree offers delicious Thou Mayest coffee at Cafe Equinox and a greenhouse to sit in while you enjoy it! The home decor inside is stunning and I wish I could take everything home with me!!! The staff is AMAZING and so helpful, knowledgeable, and passionate about plants! I picked out a couple of patio tomatoes and a happy little pepper plant and I can't wait to taste their fruits! I always request a day date here because you could spend all day wandering down the aisles, smelling the flowers and learning about unique and rare species. There's even a koi pond where you can feed the fish! This is a must-stop destination for anyone visiting the area!!
Their staff is so kind. When I engage with them, they always have thorough answers and care information. I usually get a little compliment too, which is just the cherry on top! Things are organized pretty well and this is my favorite nursery in kc.
This place is great. Originally lured in by the great coffee from Cafe Equinox (inside), I fell in love with the greenhouse cafe area during the winter, which finally led me to the nursery specifically for plants. Truly a sales funnel that I'm sure they had in mind when partnering up with Cafe Equinox! My wife has the green thumb in the family, and thanks to FTN's kid friendly little shovels and Paw Patrol gardening gloves, my daughter will soon be helping her out this spring. Together they picked spinach seeds, lettuce, planting trays, and other edible things to sprout up this year. The space is super easy to walk around and peruse, and really big. There's a flower-specific greenhouse, trees and shrubs, and the main greenhouse. *Note that the cafe portion is only open through the winter, and then more plants take the space over. Prices are pretty good, but it can also add up. That's the case with most places like this though. Fun spot that seems far away from me in Shawnee, but really isn't any more than the 15-20 minutes away that most things in this city are. I'd recommend spending an hour here some weekend for sure.
OMG! What can I say about this place. My wallet get skinnier every time I visit. If you are a plant maniac like me, you will fall in love with this place. Staff are really helpful and friendly. If you need to find a plant for friends, family or even for yourself. This place worth a visit. You might find yourself in the same situation like me.
Holy cow. I have never seen such beautiful plants, ever. I visited Family Tree Nursery in Shawnee for their fall festival during an absolute deluge. And even with the pouring rain, the place was packed with shoppers. The plants, the flowers, the decor, everything is lovely and so well arranged. They also have a coffee shop and plenty of seating. I will admit, the cold brew was not good, to me. It was way too bright and slightly sour. The coffee notwithstanding, this is a great place to find all of your landscaping enhancements or houseplants to liven up your decor. It's not the cheapest source for garden materials, but the expertise cannot be denied.

I love this nursery. It has so many plants and the variety is great. It is calming and I can't wait to come here in the fall. I got a drink at the coffee shop and was able to walk around and look at all the plants. We ended up getting a beautiful plant and pot for my daughter who just lost her cat. The staff was very helpful for us as we were looking for the best plant to get her. The plants were very strong and were very awesome. We also got a beautiful hummingbird feeder that is amazing. It looks like a very well made feeder and will look amazing on my little apartment deck. read more
Easily the best nursery and garden store in the Shawnee/west JoCo area. If you want any kind of greenery ranging from vegetables to ornamentals to shrubbery, then this is the place for you. It also helps that there are approximately 160 million people working there on a given weekend, especially during planting season. Very helpful staff, an amazing array of flowering plants, as well as succulents and indoor selections. Pricing is fair and you can be sure that what you're getting has been well tended to, so even a fumbling green thumb like me isn't likely to kill it. Note that parking can be a challenge, but find a space and take in the peaceful atmosphere in the greenhouse. If you have the time, then check out the Koi pond in the far backspace of the perennial garden. Amazingly tranquil, these graceful carp seem to make everything OK. read more

Cute, cute, cute! Loved how the layout was, green house is to die for! Lots of seating area and the cute cafe inside! Love the variety there was of indoor and outdoor options and lots of beautiful tropical. Moderate price for plants and such and had cute decor, outdoor water features, and items for the house! Lots of gift style options and even sell local produce! read more

The staff is always very helpful at the Shawnee location. The selection of plants can be overwhelming. I love to buy my herbs and house plants here. Yesterday I bought a plant and pot and had it potted with add ons for free. read more

This place is great. Found exactly what we needed to decorate a gazebo with fall beauty. Pumpkins in every shape and size, I think we bought two of each kind. On the hunt for mums next, we found these giant planters that are absolutely gorgeous instead. And the best part, they were on sale! The staff was great in assisting us to the car to load our goodies. I could spend many hours here in complete happiness. read more
My favorite place! I seriously love visiting and have never had a bad experience. The staff will go out of their way to give you the names of the plants you're taking home (Latin names!)... this way helps to do research and find out proper care, although they help with that as well. I can never leave empty handed, every plant I have purchased has been healthy and thriving. My living room has become a mini forest that makes me a proud customer. It's a must visit... but good luck leaving without a plant baby... although you'll also find candles and other trinkets. read more
The first warm day of the year always gets me itching to start planting. I try to follow that impulse, but that sometimes leaves me with dead plants on my hands, seeing as a spring freeze isn't uncommon. This will be the first year that I have a garden that isn't in Brooklyn, New York. I know, how crazy is it that I haven't yet had a garden while living in this most fertile region. Gardening is one of my passions. Don't get me wrong. I'm no expert. I had a wisteria vine that despite all my efforts only flowered once in the 7 or so years that I had it. But I enjoy the benefits of the planted seeds (er, I don't actually plant much from seeds, but you get the point). Nothing better than a dish made with tomatoes from a garden. I can't think of anything more pleasurable than sitting outside on a summer night breathing in the heady fragrance of jasmine and moon flowers. Yet the past two summers had me with only so much as a couple pots of flowers on the porch. The reason for this is we've moved right in the midst of summer two years in a row. But, this year is different! We moved in March and now there's a small garden out back that is just dying for some plants. Come hell or high water, I'm going to plant a garden that will rival my vine and flower-filled yard back in Brooklyn. I got a good start last week at Family Tree Nursery. It was 80 degrees on the first Saturday of April, so there I was, typically optimistic, filling the cart with herbs (basil, two varieties of thyme and sage), annuals (geraniums, petunias) and one grape vine that a most informative employee helped me to pick out. On that note, I was pretty happy to see the wide range of grape varieties at this nursery. At my favorite nursery on Long Island, they barely had one variety to offer and if you got there too late after it sold out, you were SOL. I ended up putting back all the annuals I had impulsively loaded my basket with after speaking to yet another helpful employee who suggested it might be too early to plant these in the ground (after I asked her). Fearing a kitchen full of plants waiting out the frost threat, I figured I can return next month to get these. After all, there's plenty of time and Family Tree has a lot to offer. And they will soon be getting in my favorites: clematis, jasmine and passion flowers. I will also get my tomato plants here when I return. Here's to a happy gardening season! read more
I had always gone to the Family Tree location in Liberty since it was closest to me. Then one year I branched out and went to the OP location to get my first fiddle fig tree. I FINALLY visited the Shawnee location and I'm pretty convinced it's my new favorite! It's a good 40 minute drive from me but it's well worth it. Guys. Hey, guys. Listen. The selection is insanity. They've got everything. And when I say "everything" I'm not even exaggerating. Plus the coffee shop is an added bonus if you're interested in plant watching, people watching or spending a lazy afternoon here. Such a peaceful and laid back atmosphere. I left with way more plants than I needed. But you know what? It's okay. Because I'm a proud plant mom these days. My actual children can sometimes argue and be obnoxious teenagers. But plants just sit there and look sassy minus the sass. read more

Love this nursery so much! It's become our Saturday morning tradition to grab coffee inside at Cafe Equinox and then take our daughter to feed the fish. Of course we have to take home a new plant or two. Could we go to Lowe's and get plants for much cheaper? Sure but we love shopping local and everyone is so knowledgeable and kind. Make sure to check out all their home goods and trinkets too. They have an amazing selection that would make great gifts. read more
This place just gets more stars every year for me. I used to think of it as the place to go for my landscaping but it is so much more than that. Take a stroll outside for all of your landscaping needs but it is also peaceful and serene. Inside there are so many options from potting soil to wax melts. They also carry Mindfully Simple elderberry. I love that they focus on highlighting local companies like themselves. We have been coming here for years and it just gets better. Family Tree knows what needs to be done to stand the test of time and they do it right. They are very helpful as well. We have gone in with a bare front yard and they have helped us design and create a beautiful landscaped front yard. There are so many family events as well. The addition of the cafe, again supporting more local businesses, was genius. Grab a coffee, stroll and enjoy some local goods. read more
I'm always up for a visit to family tree. Our whole family loves to come here. The kids always head straight for the koi pond that's tucked into the back corner of the shade garden. Bring quarters so you can buy a handful of fish food to feed the koi! After we've said hello to the fish we spend time just strolling around the store. There are so many fun and beautiful things to see. The employees are super laid back and helpful. Today we were looking for lavender to plant in our mosquito repellent garden and the lady that helped us went above and beyond with giving us helpful advice. It was great! They offer a lot of family friendly events throughout the year. Check their Facebook page or website to get the exact dates. My kids love the fall one with the petting zoo, face painters, and hay bale maze. Definitely worth stopping by if you've got little ones. read more

Decided to come here during my lunch hour with a colleague and absolutely fell in love with this nursery. They have a wonderful coffee/tea cafe and lots of adorable sitting areas for you to soak in the atmosphere, study, draw or catch up with a friend!! The staff there are so incredibly helpful and friendly. It's so rare to find that type of service anymore. If you love plants, this is your sanctuary!! I could've walked around longer and bought more plants if I didn't have to get back to work :). This place is a gem! read more

These folks know everything green. Recently they've upgraded the interior decorating, coffee shop and farmer's market areas to make this nursery into a community gathering spot. One of the only places where you can get good advice on every area of your garden and house plantings. They carry a wide assortment of exotics that make a visit to Family Tree akin to visiting a little botanical garden. read more

This place rocks. The reasons to love it- Overflowing inventory. Don't see it, just ask. Knowledgeable and helpful employee's that go above and beyond. Cute little areas to walk through. Not just plants, but pots and accessories. Reasonable prices. Quality product. I come here every spring for the bulk of my plantings. Go, go, go! read more
