Grrrr. Just a rant about Cano health (Dr. Hizkil'soffice) and their poor customer service. For…read moreweeks I have been trying to get a refill for my thyroid meds. They say they will only fill prescriptions requested by the pharmacy. So, I had Walgreens send a request before I was out, never heard back. Had them send two more with no response. Called the office today at one, explained the situation and was told "no problem, I'll pass it on to the nurse." Decided to follow up real quick at about 4:40 just in case. When I finally spoke to someone I was told they wouldn't refill it because it had been over three months since I have been seen there. Mind you, I would have happily scheduled an appointment before I ran out had I been relayed this information. So instead of making a phone call anytime in the last 3 weeks to let me know, it took me calling. Missing thyroid meds is I guess kinda a big deal, I asked if they could just call in a week's worth till I could get in and they couldn't. I've been with the practice (as central Florida internists) for over 14 years and have been on these same meds for years. I'm not gonna lie, I kinda flipped out... I called another doctor I've seen and asked if I had my records sent over if he would take care of it from here on out and was told absolutely. I called Cano back and was told they wouldn't transfer my records without a request from the other Dr. I asked if I could get them in person and was told yes, but they close at 5. It was 4:55 and I was at the 192/Vermont light. They were obviously closed when I got there knowing damn well I needed these records and really needed the prescription. I was disappointed when Dr. Shah left, I will not be returning after this.

I would agree completely with the first review. The Doctor does indeed have a wonderful personality…read moreas does her loyal RN Lucille. Both are a gift to their profession. The doctor listens with deep care & concern. It is my hope that she listens now. Unfortunately, it is her office staff that is ruining the practice. I have been a patient for well over 10 years and I have seen her practice grow and good employees leave. It is true what the previous reviewer stated, it has been increasingly difficult to make an appointment. If you are lucky enough to get someone to answer the phone, don't expect an appointment right away. Once, while at the office, I made a comment about the phone ringing... one of the ladies responded that sometimes they take the phone off the hook (alarming). For the past few years I have resorted to the Minute Clinic when ill. The office manager is indeed abrupt as stated by the other reviewer and seems to lack the social skills necessary in a health care environment. Unfortunately, some of these employees are her family members. Although I have absolute faith in Dr. Medina, I have lost faith in the practice due to several concerns. Last year, I had routine blood work done. Days later, I received a call from Jeannie stating that there were abnormalities and I had to be seen by the doctor. I nervously waited, several days, worrying about what could be wrong. I soon received a letter in the mail from the doctor's office stating that everything was normal. I immediately phoned and asked for clarification. Jeannie said that she saw a "red sticker" on my chart and assumed that it required my follow up. I'm sorry but I don't want an unqualified individual to make an ASSUMPTION regarding my health. Then, a payment "lost" even though it was mailed in the same envelope with other correspondence that was received. The practice has grown to more than it is capable of handling. The operating hours are limited (short day on Fridays). That, along with the wrong personnel does not work in this WONDERFUL doctor's favor.

This place is an absolute joke! They try to bill your insurance for things that don't have anything…read moreto do with your appointment so that they can get money out of you. Lady told me to call my insurance and so I did. When the insurance tried to call her to explain my benefits and tell her that I had a $0 copay, she wanted to ignore the call as I'm sitting right in front of her with the insurance on hold because she knows she's wrong. When I told her she can hear the phone ringing and to stop ignoring it, she turns around and says she's in a "meeting" when I was standing there the whole time. Wouldn't recommend this place to anybody.
