I went into this store in Worcester and I found a few things that I needed, luckily there was no line to check out, so I had no issues shopping and paying. With over 8,000 locations in all states except Alaska and Hawaii, it was the second largest retailer of its type in the United States until it was acquired by Dollar Tree in 2015 and its headquarters operations were moved from Matthews, a suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina, to Chesapeake, Virginia, located in South Hampton Roads. The main difference is that at Family Dollar you can get items at different price points, whereas at Dollar Tree everything is $1.25 or less.

This store is a real trip - you will find one helluva totally random section of cheap crap everywhere. They have a wall full of "Slightly Out of Date" over the counter cold remedies and pain killers, cheap greeting cards, cheap Tee Shirts, cheap baseball caps, cheap school supplies, cheap socks and candy and sunglasses, and more varieties of masking tape than I ever knew existed. We picked up a long sleeve T shirt and some packing tape for a fraction of what we would have paid anywhere else. LOL- totally random stuff indeed !

We always find awesome randomness that we didn't know that we needed (or even wanted) before we walked in there. You know how Hate works--size of your body, your hair, your skin, your religion, etc. However, the Dollar General that is here now, will respond to their own poor customer service by threatening the safety of their paying customers. Don't worry--the story has a good ending because the Ware Police have bigger fish to fry. But this marks the second store in this plaza I won't be going to anymore. Curious enough to read on? I hope so. My spouse made an order at 8 AM that Dollar General, the corporation, said would be ready by 1:15pm. They paid for their order, and when the time rolled around, they showed up. Now, if you don't know this Dollar General, they're not known for their customer service. The employees are good, don't get me wrong--yet when your District Manager tells you to call the police on your paying customers, I'm sure this kind of attitude saps your morale everywhere. I've called this DG before and their phone endlessly rang. Some of the staff have to work two jobs, or are not making ends meet with their hourly wage. Dollar General could be doing more, in general. So when my spouse arrived for their order to be ready FIVE hours later, no order was ready for pickup, and no accommodations were made for them. Can my spouse go get the products themselves? No. Can another employee do it instead of the one who's on break? No. Fifteen minutes went by, with NOTHING. No breaks ended, nobody budged. So my spouse retrieved products they had already paid for, expecting that the DG team can just complete the transaction from the app. When leaving, they were told the police would be called--which is harassment. When we later found that our order was "suddenly" ready for pickup, and not marked as completed, I returned to the store myself with the products. I was ready to exchange them for the order the DG staff had supposedly readied. It was not safe for my spouse to go. But there was no order ready. The district manager, Pat, had already told his subordinates to call the police, which they must do to keep their jobs. His staff had already called the police. They had already noted my spouse's license plate. They had already been told by the police to *just mark the order as completed already!* So when I arrived, I was feeling unsafe and threatened. I wanted to complete the order that The God Of Dollar General demanded we complete, in-person, when my spouse was already threatened. I arrived to exchange the two products for the ones waiting for us, or just mark those taken as the ones ready for pickup. But they HAD no product. We would be given no receipt, either. I told them I wanted to return the goods we had paid for. I didn't want their merchandise. Their Eighteen Dollars' worth of paid merchandise for which they treated us like thieves for, but the products they were willing to take back. They tried to use the pickup image code we had, but it would not work on the order. So they went to the register, and provided me a receipt for the order, and cash. I took that cash to the people who, as far as I know, made the sane decision: the police, and they are keeping the receipt and cash as evidence for this harassment. It's just money. I don't need it. I also don't need to be part of big corporate drama. Don't go to this Dollar General, or ANY Dollar General for that matter. You are NOT SAFE to go there. They are at war with every customer who is just a thief in waiting for them.

Aisles are usually pretty well stocked with random stuff, you're likely to find what you need. They've also got food and a frozen section. However today's trip.. If you don't care for your job, maybe don't go to work.... I went to Family Dollar today as I'm a pretty frequent flyer with it being right down the street from me. Immediately upon walking in I felt off. The cashier working just STARED at me. Dead blank stare. Weird. When it was time to check out, the person working the register again just stared for a few moments until asking if I was ready to cash out. Scanned my items in a hurry, didn't tell me my total but immediately took out his phone and started to play games right on the conveyor belt. Uhhh.... If today was my first trip in there, let it be known that it would definitely have been my last.

As for Covid, they were smart to have enter on one side and exit on the other. Biggest blunder though is checking out, there is no sense of organization on where a line starts. The shelves are too close to to the aisle and even though there is a marking on the floor to point out six feet it's a cluster. Best solution is take a page out of Table & Vine's book and form one line along the outermost side and call people in as a register opens up. They opened a store up on Boston rd. Where the toys-r-us use to be, have yet to go there but on my to do list to check it out once everything settles down.

Best prices best Crazy deals. I normally don't go to this location because it's not close to my house, but I happen to be in Sturbridge and I saw the job lot so I was like I'll stop by. The store was amazing and way better than the location that I normally go to. They even sell liquor at this location, which is amazing. Although you can't use a Crazy Deal gift card to purchase it, which is totally fine. But this store was like a large larger store and they had so much great stuff so many great snacks and great candy selection. The only thing I will say is the dog treat selection was slim compared to the location i normally go to, but overall I love this store.

But today, we saw something in their Sturbridge, MA store we had never seen before. They sell wine! Yes, they had a big sign in the shape of a wine bottle hanging from ceiling wires directing us to their wine and beer section. I didn't see much beer, but I sure saw quite a few bottles of wine. Who knew? That was just one of the revelations we had while shopping in their aisles today. The main revelation was just how large and neat and well stocked this store is. Their pricing is about the same as we've seen in other OSJLs, and that means pricing is pretty good. We spent a teense over $20 on an eclectic assortment of Polar Orange Dry soda ($1.99 for a six-pack), a container of curry powder (OSJL is our "go to" store for spices), parchment paper, some beef jerky and beef sticks, some soup and entrée mixes, two boxes of tissues, a container of chicken broth, a box of cereal, and a container of breadcrumbs. A very nice haul for the price. OSJL is an interesting franchise -some locations are small, cluttered, and unpleasant to shop in. Not here, we had a great experience, even if we didn't come out with a bottle of wine. Cheers!

I bought kitty litter a few nights ago late, close to closing. I was so upset because there was a…read morelarge oil spill in my basement. I told the gentleman working all about it. When he cashed me out he crumbled the receipt without asking if I needed it and walked away. I had no time to chase him When I arrived home the oil company was there and they had different drying agents. I went back to the store to ask if I could exchange the $30 worth of litter and they said no man by that description works there and no they won't do any exchange or store credit. This was the assistant manager I spoke to. I'm so disappointed because this was my store of choice and now I won't be going anymore. She was brisk and not trying to help at all.
