Nice Price is kind of unmistakable from the outside. A giant yellow awning with sun-faded and…read moredust-besmirched red font hangs along the large store front running along Vernor Hwy. Underneath the awning hangs an assortment of 6' x 9' area rugs ranging from traditional "oriental" rug patterns to roaring lion heads to Disney characters. Once inside, you know by the endless piles of metal, plastic, and textile commodities that you've just penetrated into one of the largest kinda-dollar-store emporiums that you'll probably ever be privy to. It's quite large, and you can find just about anything in here that you'd expect to find at a dollar-store, and them some. Half the goods made me wonder if there's ANYONE in the world in need of them, and the other half seemed perfectly practical and attractively priced. There's a ton of cooking wear and glassware that looks sturdy. You can buy metal stewing pots big enough to bathe in. Tea pots, French presses, carafes, cold and hot thermoses, meat grinders, cookie jars, ceramics, etc. There's a section for area rugs, a section for curtains and tapestries, a small toy section, watches and jewelry, a few electronics. They have a large collection of flags of the world for sale throughout the store, a few HUGE Iraqi and Mexican flags (which complimented the "I love Mexico" and "I love Iraq" custom designed sports caps available near the front). There's also an extensive collection of Arabic home decor and framed prayers (also ranging from a very humble maroon font on beige paper to more exuberant neon-lighted mirror text). If you're in need of something practical for around the house, esp. for the kitchen, this might be a fun place to hunt around for a good bargain before you resign yourself to the tawdry bowels of Target.

This is a brand new store. Curiously located right next to a TJ Maxx (they're practically the same…read morestore) in a busy strip mall. Now, it was certainly my own mistake for visiting on the Sunday two weeks before Christmas, but this place was an unorganized madhouse! There were probably way more people in the store than a fire marshal would allow. Products all over the floor, strewn about. And again, this is a brand new store... why design the store with seven checkout lanes if you're only going to have four open on one of the busiest shopping days? Gripes aside, it's a decent store with a slightly different selection than your average TJ Maxx and Marshall's. As we got away from the clothing/shoes/accessories, we found the home goods section to be in much better order. We picked up a few nice picture frames for less than $10 each, so I'd call that a win. They also had a great selection of auto accessories, surprisingly. The wait in line was about a half hour... very ridiculous. Anyway, they need more cashiers on duty to handle demand and also dedicated staff to keep stock off the floor.

Ross is my favorite store. I always hit as many as I can when traveling. I was very excited that…read moreone was built so close. However, the selection in this store doesn't represent the true Ross experience. There is not as many high quality brands that Ross usually sells at a deep discount. They do carry a lot of cheap, trendy clothing. There is not a wide variety of sizes for women. The designer handbag selection has never been great. They do occasionally have a great shoe selection. It is really hit or miss. The store is usually clean & organized. The prices are usually good if you can find a treasure. However, the next door neighbor, TJ Maxx, usually has a better selection. The Ross stores I have been to in the north are very different than the ones in the south. This isn't it. The buyers for this store are cheating you out of a great Ross experience.
