Unfortunately I had to leave my previous dentists because I moved from California, and then again here in NJ because of insurance. After having a consultation at this office, an appointment was scheduled for the following week so we could begin with me having some cavities filled. The staff was quite aware that I have had and continue to have many dental and gum issues because of radiation therapy I had received for Head and Neck Cancer (a couple of years ago). I realize my oral issues are challenging to treat because most of my cavities occur near the gum line. My previous dentists had to be very careful not to damage my gum tissue (which is receding) and through it all, they actually improved my overall gum tissue by clearing up the cavities and other issues that were causing pain and inflammation. In this case, I went in with just cavities and no gum issues on that quadrant of my mouth, but left with a big hole in my gums after having the fillings. I called the office the following day to let the dentist know that I was in pain because of the hole in my gums and that the filling she did looked awful and had jagged edges. They wanted me to come back in, but I was very hesitant to do so. I decided to see another dentist in town and she fixed the filling that was done so poorly and I will go back for additional dental work.
Eight days later and I'm still in pain. Not one follow-up call from Wallington Family Dentistry to see how things are coming along with my gums. The tissue is swollen, looks like chopped meat and is so uncomfortable - it could be infected.
Think twice before allowing a novice dentist to work on your dental issues. Instead of being scheduled with an inexperienced dentist, I should have been under the care of their best, most experienced one because of the complexity of my dental issues - or referred out to another office if they didn't think they could help me.
They also requested approval for 3 crowns from my insurance company, only to find out that would be the worst decision I could make because my teeth are too fragile to endure the procedure and they would ultimately break off.
Decide for yourself - should you schedule an appointment with that office or choose a practice that actually cares about their patients. I initially felt like it would be a good fit, until I had the work done.
I just hope my gums are not infected and I look forward to the pain going away. I was hesitant to write this review, but people should be aware and beware! read more
