    Garlic knots w marinara
    Camille J.

Finally made it to La Famiglia tonight. Oh so good! Hubby had shrimp scampi, I had the squash ravioli w Alfredo sauce and these are the delicious garlic knots served with our dinner. We also each had a side salad; him Caesar and me side garden with their homemade blue cheese. We also had the stuffed mushrooms but had scarfed them down before I thought to take a picture. They were really busy and very short handed, but our experience was exceptional!

Staff was awful. Was seated in the back with a bunch of other families, really loud. Asked to move to a quiet spot. Dirty restaurant overall. Ordered a $7 house salad and had mold on my tomatoes. Told the waiter and all he said was "oh" and awkwardly took my plate back. Didn't apologize, didn't make a new plate, or offer to take it off my bill. They charged us for a salad I didn't eat. So disappointed that no one approached us to apologize or take it off our bill. I'm one of those people that would pay my bill regardless, but you're dang sure I didn't leave a tip. And I leave reviews to make sure people don't go there and eat what I just got served.

Disclaimer: This was a take-out order. We decided to try Famiglia because we wanted to support a locally owned establishment. When I called, Steven answered and was very helpful with ordering. Fast forward, Steven was also very nice along with the other staff when we picked our order up. The restaurant seems cozy with a nice dining and bar area. The bar has 2 TVs and what appeared to be a full service bar with a local selection of beers. Based on everything above we were off to a great start. We ordered the famiglia sampler, shrimp scampi and chicken marsala. We were not hungry enough to try the pizza or any other specials. The Sampler ($13.00) had potato croquettes, mozzarella wedges, meatballs and what appeared to be fried cheese perogies. There was no calamari. I will admit the homemade meatballs were really good!! The potato croquettes were also good. Shrimp Scampi ($17.00): The shrimp were great, perfectly cooked. The spaghetti was covered in a wine sauce that was watered down. Chicken Marsala ($18.00): The lightly breaded cutlet (this was a very thin cut chicken breast) was nicely prepared. Again this wine sauce was disappointing. The sauce in an Italian dish is the reason you go to an Italian place...the first taste should make you think someone's grandma from NY or NJ (we can argue about the location, just speaking from experience) spent hours in kitchen preparing it with love. The recipes are missing grandma in the kitchen. Regardless, they seem to have a nice family feeling.

Umm.. not sure if this is as good as people make it to be! Yes, they have a wide array of comfort Italian food with pizza, pasta and a pretty nice dessert menu. However, they just haven't done justice to the true, authentic Italian food that you would get elsewhere. I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was just too watery which made it taste super bland. Our group ordered meat lasagna, eggplant parmesan, chicken Parmesan with penne a la vodka and chicken fettuccine Alfredo and no one thought it was great food. If they want to stay in business for a longer time, they are gonna have to offer a better and unique food palatte that people can enjoy with friends and family. This place was not anything special.. wouldn't waste a visit again ;(

Tuxedo cake ingredients. HINT it's actually from Fresh Market and not made in house like they say! #liars

I watched those carbs flow right into my mouth and they were worth every one I ate! Also very reasonable on prices.Very busy for a Thursday night so you may want to go early.

We were seated quickly enough but the tables are set up so that some tables have chairs set so your back is directly in front of someone else's chair sideways. So, the diner sitting behind me stared at my back the entire time they were there. I just found this the most awkward of arrangements I've ever seen in a restaurant. I ordered a water & baked ziti with meatballs. When my lunch arrived I thought the meatballs looked dry but after tasting them, while they did look dry on the outside, they were moist and tasted delicious. The rest of the entree was a disappointment. I didn't feel as though there was enough sauce on the ziti, it tasted overcooked and the layers of cheese on top had baked too long. So long it was hard to break off and enjoy in one bite - ziti, meatball and cheese all in one taste. The toasted bread needed more butter as it was just dry toast to me. I had plenty of leftovers and tried to pawn them off on my husband for dinner. While he did eat it all he also made mention that even after heating it up in the microwave, the cheese was still hard to eat. Our server either had too many tables or just doesn't believe in refilling water. I had hopes that if my glass only had ice in it she would take that as a hint to refill it. It was not to be and I had to hunt down a drink soon as we left the restaurant. All in all, this isn't a place I would return to. I liked the atmosphere and the transparent kitchen, it just isn't a place I would spend anymore money in.

I discovered Nino's when looking for places to dine over my stay in Greenville, NC. I read it was a…read morebusy place so I made sure to make a reservation. When I arrived, I thought I was going to a fine dining establishment with the decor outside and patio. Even the chandeliers and painted ceiling when entering set my expectations high. Then I was seated in the empty Rat Pack room. It was obvious that I was exiled to be hidden away from the other diners in the main dining area. A couple did join me over an hour later. I would have been fine dining in the room to myself if the staff standing around the hostess stand were not loudly complaining about their personal problems such as their high electric bills, rent payments or needing to complete homework. These conversations belong in the break room, and not for guests to need to listen to, so much for the fine dining atmosphere. My waitress was friendly but did not go over the specials, or seem that familiar with the menu. I started with the Sicily Sunset and some bread. Then I ordered the Pear and Cheese Sacchetti. The pasta pouches filled with cheese and pears in an Alfredo sauce. It was to come with the garnish of cracked pepper, Romano cheese and parsley but that was missing. Parmesan was added at the table. I was a little shocked when my dish arrived within minutes of ordering. It made me feel like I was being rushed as I was isolated and the food came out too quickly. I do wonder if it was freshly made. I could tell they were trying to turn the table quickly as then the dessert menu arrived while I was still eating my entree. The pasta dish was good with the textures and flavor. I would have had a better opinion of the food if I had just ordered that and skipped the dessert. The dessert menu wasn't very Italian so that was disappointing. I had to laugh that the assorted Italian cookies contained chocolate chip, sprinkles, and a chocolate dipped cookie. I did take a photo of the menu, so you can read it yourself. I went with the profiterole, not realizing their version was pre-made. So they took it out of the refrigerator and served it cold. The pasty's texture was changed by the temperature and was chewy. The chocolate ganache had hardened rather than flowing like lava. The dish was not good and I didn't finish. I did mention to the waitress that it was not good and she just said that they might make it different. They pre-prepare it so it isn't fresh. For the price, the service, atmosphere and pacing were below professional standards. I do not recommend Nino's if you are looking for an upscale environment. I would not return after my experience.
