Really good haircut. Mr. Mauricio skill with the scissor is top notch. Good atmosphere, clean, with good music. read more

A long time happy customer (almost 20 years)...that speaks for itself. Mauricio is the best!

Called ahead to ask how much haircut costs and was told $35. My son who just moved to UCLA needed a haircut so I suggested this place since it was nearby. He was lukewarm to the trim he got but it was passing. However, he was charged $40 instead of the $35 quoted. He decided not to question the bill and despite being overcharged he still gave a $6 tip. Do not recommend this business as they can't get pricing right. read more

Diego is my go to here at Famas! Just recently switched to famas bc my barber in the valley moved. Diego did a great job at giving me a low fade blended with a tapered neckline and about a inch and a half off the top. He is super sweet and a conversationalist, i felt comfortable talking to him and telling hime exactly what i like for my hair, hes definitely relatable and funny and am absolutely coming back here as his regular. Parking is kinda a pain in the butt so find parking nearby. The vibe inside is nice and relaxed, small shop with comfy seats, small waiting area. Tbh this is a great shop for really anyone needing a great quick cut! read more

First time getting my hair cut short, David did and absolutely awesome job with it. Super nice guy, helped me understand what was going on, walked me through all of it. If it's your first time going to Fama Cuts, you gotta ask for David! read more

Get a cut from Aki or Annette! They are both so nice and give really really good hair cuts!

Jaelyn is fantastic :) Was a little apprehensive at first because it wasn't my usual barber. But this is one of the only times that I've left legitimately excited about how I look. Throughout the haircutting process Jaelyn provided lots of input, answered all of my questions, and catered to every single one of my requests. She made sure that I left with exactly what I was looking for. My favorite haircut experience so far :) Service and quality are excellent, would definitely recommend. read more

Best haircuts in Westwood ! Music is great and the people that work there are so cool. I recommend Fama cuts :) read more

This is the worst barber shop I've ever been to, and Rami is absolutely the worst barber. First off, he showed up 20 minutes late and acted like it was no big deal. Also, it seemed like he had no clue what he was doing. Watching him handle the clippers was like watching a clown on stage, and to make things worse, he didn't even realize he'd given me the worst haircut of my life. I'm never going back, and you definitely shouldn't either. read more

Best barbers in Westwood. Period. I've been to Oakleys and about 4 other barber shops but this one takes the cake. I have long curly hair and am very picky on where I get my hair cut but I came in and got a fade on the sides with long hair on top and got EXACTLY what I came in for. Not only that but I went home that night and wanted it a bit shorter so I dm-ed them and came back in the next day and they fixed me up free of charge. Make sure you call in and get an appointment as it can get busy on some days. 11/10 can't recommend this place more. read more

Best haircut experience I ever had in Westwood. They let me schedule ahead of time, and paid so much attention to my structure and balances my hair needed to be, and treated me with so much respect. I want to make this my exclusive haircut spot from now on. I just hope they keep the same barber staff for as long as possible. read more

Haircut was okay, but the young guy barber who could speak some Spanish scammed me. I didn't ask for the price before my cut, I was charged with $35, I thought the price was a little too high so I called the business some 10 minutes after I left the place, and I found out the price was $30. Please kindly remind him that beguiling someone for small money won't, in the end, bring him a fulfilling life and that what he puts out into the universe he is changing the world, whether for good or worse. read more

Mauricio is my go to guy! He's a very kind and funny older guy who really cares about your hair. He ensures that you leave with what you want and won't stop or compromise. The shop itself is very clean, modern, and luxurious. I definitely recommend anyone looking for a classic clean cut to hit up my man Mauricio. read more

I always get a great haircut here. I go here because it's a great location and price for me. The stylists are nice, and I've always walked in without having to wait long. I've gotten great haircuts from Aki and Mauricio. I plan on relying on this place for haircuts for the rest of my time at Westwood! read more

Mauricio is the man. He is very friendly and gave me a great haircut (no machine, just scissors). My parents are from El Salvador so I enjoyed chatting with him about a variety of topics. I would definitely go back. read more

Very happy with this place. Mauricio has cut my hair a few times. I also had it done by a nice Japanese/american lady there. I think her name is Aki. She had such attention to detail and is a delightful person to talk to. read more

Everyone is great. The service is excellent. I can always walk in and get a good haircut from anyone working.

As an Asian finding a good hair salon can be difficult. Most white stylists just don't know how to work with asian hair. I went to Fama based on the rec of Chang a friend from school. I saw Aki who works only Saturdays all day. She was good and very patient. I asked for 2 touch ups to get things right and she was happy to do it. I was very satisfied with the cut. The cost was 15, pretty reasonable. One recommendation she gave was to go earlier in the day, cause by the end of the day her concentration is much lower after seeing so many heads. I can relate, read more

The owner is amazing! Sweet and kind gentleman and the service was outstanding! Definitely recommend!

René and j are the best barbers I ever seen in Westwood. They get you right and the price is reasonable compared to other shops in the area and services exceeds expectations. I've read some of the negative comments complaining about the price the bros probably don't 't know about haircuts or probably get cuts from mom. begin to appreciate what they do for our figurare and appearance. ignorants lately everything is expensive and still complain. Great people are at fama ! read more

They make up their prices as they wish. Not the best customer service and their phone never works to make an appointment.

This place is seriously amazing! Awesome staff who really cares, and I would highly recommend coming here to anyone who's looking for haircuts & other beauty services! read more

Annette cut my hair; I showed her a picture of a k-drama model. She took a quick glance at the photo, and after studying my head shape and hair structure she improvised a beautiful haircut-- really taking her time and patient. It was like a sculpture. tl;dr: usually a good place to get cheap hair cut unless you get it cut by Kevin. He's terrible at cutting hair and possibly scammed me. Honestly, the worst hair cut I've ever gotten. As a UCLA student I am a regular at this salon and usually get my hair cut by the woman who seems to own and run the place. But this time I got my hair cut by a new barber, Kevin. Kevin seemed chill but things soon got awry. To start with, Kevin wanted to cut my hair so that my chair pointed away from the mirrors -- I had no idea what he was doing until it was done. Should not have trusted him. He was super rough, I have cuts on my scalp, a weird bald spot where my hair line begins, he cut more hair than the length I wanted, messed up the hair line around the ear, didn't clean up the side burns and then asked me to pay him personally instead of paying at the register. He also asked for $25 instead of the usual $20. read more

Absolutely amazing cut by Mauricio (aka Renee). I gave him a couple pictures to reference, told him what I was looking for, told him what I didn't like with the references, and he gave me some suggestions for my look and went to work. And he didn't everything PERFECT. Price for me was 30ish (but apparently there's a first time discount or something?) amazing clean cut for this price point read more

In LA, haircuts are dumb expensive. This place is reasonable, gets the job done, and my barber, Mauricio, is great. Been going here for four years and have no plans to stop. read more

When I first visited Fama, I wasn't really sure what to expect. The one thing that drew me in was their $10 haircut for students but that has since changed to only 20% haircuts on Wednesday so if you're still looking for a cheap cut, you'd better look elsewhere now. The only reason this place gets 4 stars is because of Lupe and Chris. I always ask for either one of them when I go in because I feel they deliver the best quality cuts. I've also gone enough to where they recognize my face and offer to wash my hair free of charge. Overally, not a bad place if you want to get away from Campus Cuts and don't feel like walking down the street more to Oakley's. Just make sure that you don't get the owner because he's a little sketchy. read more

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh, they got rid of their $10 student discount. They only have it on Wednesdays now. That hurts. The quality of the haircut is still not bad, as long as you know what you want, but the clincher here for me was always the price. Now I don't know. It's $15 now for a guy's haircut, same as Oakley's, and I've always had better service/stylist input at Oakley's. The only thing this place wins on now is distance, and that's not much... 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 because I was still fairly satisfied with the haircut I got today, but that price-hike, man... you don't do something like that after the student discount becomes one of the only reasons people come to you. read more

This is my go-to place in Westwood for Asian-style hair. I also walk in on a Thursday and ask for Lupe. There is a 20% discount on Wednesdays but it doesn't work if you request a barber. I've always managed to get unlucky and had to request my usual person-Lupe. (hmm coincidence?) Anyway, I don't mind paying $15 for a pretty decent cut by Lupe. There's not really a wait and you can often be seen right away. I always ask for 2 on the sides with a trim on the top. Somehow, Lupe always manages to get it right. I walk out feeling like a million bucks and then proceed to get some In-n-Out. Good day good day. read more

I have to say that I come here often. I always get my hair cut here. Now why would I continue to go to a 2-star location, you ask? Because my hair is really short and not very hard to deal with, and it's sort of easy to hide slight mess-ups and the like since I always use product. And it's really cheap! In fact, right now it's only 10 bucks with a student ID. BUT, sometimes they really mess up here and it takes a lot of effort to make it look right in the week that my hair grows a little longer and starts to even out after getting it cut here. I've even had to take scissors to it a few times myself to fix outstanding problems a few times. I have had far worse hair experiences than those I've had at FAMA, so it's not all that bad. The best hair stylist I've EVER had I found through FAMA, but when i went to get my hair cut again he had apparently left for China and never came back. It's been over a year now so yeah, he's gone for good. Anyway, moral of the story: if you care about your hair, you will NOT be coming here, I promise you that. read more

I've been going to this place for years. Very nice staff and good work overall. I tend to prefer Mauricio -- he is great -- old school Salvadorian who don't put up with nonsense! :) Very friendly and accommodating. I've also had others as well (Kim and Beverly) -- and all very competent and friendly as well. I recommend. read more

As you may know with haircuts, it's not about the location or brand. it's 100% about the stylist. Which is why reviews for this hair salons and barbershops should really be a review of an individual stylist and not the business or location itself. Aki doesn't work here anymore, FYI. However, Chris Brown here is amazing. I have a long spike style with a fade all around and the blend is a concave out shape. I've been searching literally for over 5 years to various asian places to get this style right. But all of the middle aged ladies just don't know how. In one explanation, Chris got it exactly right. He was very chill to talk to, and was very accommodating with touch-ups. Chris does sculpturing and is an artist and his cuts and understand of descriptions definitely show it. On the business side of Fama, they are doing a 10 dollar student cut deal. price and a great stylist! I tipped him half that amount, which I hardly ever saw the need to do with my past stylists. CHRIS BROWN is the man. now go away so you don't book him up. read more

I've come here several times and had good experiences. To be honest they have the only black barber I've seen in Westwood. I'm not saying you need a black barber to cut black hair but I had a haircut at Campus cuts before and it was horrible. The feel was off and I even got nicked more than once but every time I went into Fama and go a cut by Chis I have had good results. I even had about 3 different styles. Chris is the only one I've had though so I can't comment on the others here. read more

I've been coming here for great haircuts for over 10 years. Mauricio usually cuts my hair, but even if I show up on a day when he's away, the other stylists really know how to listen to my requests. Mauricio and his staff are the friendliest around. And when the prices are as affordable as they are at Fama, I'm sure you'll be saying an appreciative "Thank you!" as I find myself doing every time. read more

First time heading to this barber shop and I left very satisfied. Fama hair salon gave me a detailed haircut for a great price of $20. Many other barbershops in the Westwood area are expensive and you end up with a haircut that is just okay but here at Fama you get a great cut at a great price. Make sure to bring cash as that's the only way to pay just like other places in Westwood. I will definitely have Fama as my barbershop whenever I am in Westwood. read more

I've been going to Fama for close to two years now. As a guy, it's hard for me to find a good barber who does well with blades and scissors. I get a short tapered cut on the sides and use scissors on the top. And blend it all together. It's HARD to find someone who can do this. Mauricio- is my guy. He is a fantastic barber. Great guy. Always accommodating when it comes to scheduling an appointment. Also- the price is perfect. I have nothing negative to report. Mauricio is great! read more

So I've had three haircuts here in the past two years, and I was a little upset that they no longer have a daily student discount. The price for a regular haircut (for guys) is $15 which is kinda pricey (at least for me). It's hands down better than Campus Cuts on campus, and the stylists are always nice. The owner is super shady though, he's always counting money and I get weird vibes from him. I pretty much told they stylist to work her magic and they met my expectations...I looked great! lol jk but yeah I was surprised. And they cool thing is that it literally took less than 20 minutes which is a big deal since I have really thick hair and people usually take longer. I'll probably come again, if I really need a haircut (rather get them at home where they're free/cheaper). read more
