We were in the area today for my eyeglass adjustment, and since I received a "We Miss You" flyer…read morewith free play, I figured I'd take advantage of it. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. We waited at the cashier/cage for assistance, and even though we already had players' cards, it still took almost five minutes per card. No greeting, no smile, no thank you -- just a flat "here you go." They do have a decent variety of machines -- a mix of newer and older slots, plus poker and keno -- but the machines felt pretty tight. We did manage to make our money back eventually, which was the only upside. We were there for about an hour, and not a single employee acknowledged us or offered a hello. No cocktail server or bartender came by to ask if we wanted anything to drink, although certain guests seemed to get service. Sadly, this visit just reminded us why we stopped coming here when in Fallon. It was disappointing overall. To top it off, we left smelling like cigarettes -- and I quit 20 years ago. Even though they had a few newer machines that I've never seen before, I'm not sure we'll be back. I'll probably just wait until Fernley, Sparks, or Reno gets them.

The Bartender Slot Attendant Anthony is awesome and always make sure we are taken care of when I…read moreplay some games. Don't be mean to that guy. He keeps us coming back. Sad to see the table games go it is the only place in town that had it. Everyone will go to Reno now. The slots don't hit that's for sure.

Absolutely unacceptable experience with Holiday Inn Express Fallon, NV -- BE WARNED…read more I made a reservation weeks in advance for a suite at this location to accommodate my family of five. Three days prior to check-in, I was contacted by the hotel informing me that they would not be able to honor my reservation because no suites were available. Their only proposed "solution"? To book two separate rooms at a higher price than my original reservation -- completely unacceptable. Not only did they refuse to honor the rate I had originally booked, but when I reached out to IHG's corporate support team, I was met with indifference and zero accountability, despite IHG's widely advertised Reservation Guarantee policy. Because of their incompetence and refusal to honor my confirmed reservation, I am now scrambling to find alternative accommodations with only one day left before arrival. To make matters worse, this is a holiday weekend (July 4th), so hotel prices have skyrocketed due to low supply and high demand -- something that could have been entirely avoided had Holiday Inn Express simply stood by their commitment. This kind of bait-and-switch tactic is not only unethical, but it leaves loyal IHG customers completely stranded. I will absolutely reconsider staying at any Holiday Inn Express or IHG property in the future based on this experience. Travelers -- book elsewhere if you value reliability, customer service, or peace of mind.

There's a full bar next door to wet your whistle. We both ordered fish, blackened snapper and salmon. As you can see by the cleaned plates we enjoyed our meals. Service was excellent.

I was passing through the small town of Fallon, Nevada along driving The Loneliest Road in America…read more I had read that this.....the Overland Hotel was a worthwhile stop for anyone interested in exploring Fallon. After getting my Loneliest Road Survival Guide stamped at the Fallon Convention Center, I thought....why not stop by the Overland Hotel and check it out! It's situated right on the corner of historic Maine Street. It can't be missed. On the roof of the place....it simply says...."Hotel"....lol, that's how "old school" this hotel appeared to be. Also, the entire exterior was painted brick red with a little white awning hanging from the 2nd floor. My initial thought was that this hotel was gonna be a real vintage throwback. And that's exactly how I'd describe the Overland Hotel. In all, it's a combined hotel, restaurant, bar, lounge and saloon all mixed into one iconic landmark. Entering inside....the whole vibe and feel certainly oozed of your typical "dive bar". A no frills, classic bar and saloon dedicated to the blue collar folks out there. I would also slightly describe the ambiance like an old western saloon.....yet I had seen a lot better cowboy saloons along my Loneliest Road journey....especially in playful Virginia City, Nevada. Regardless, I did sit down and grab a drink at the bar. Overall, it was nice, an okay/decent moment to stretch out my legs, relax and unwind after many hours on the road. I would assume the hotel is a vintage type of place to stay as well, blending into the whole "old fashioned" theme. For me, I was content to have had a chance to discover this Overland Hotel as a fine roadside stop in Fallon. For anyone else interested in checking out some other attractions in Fallon, I'd recommend passing by the Naval Air Station (supposedly home of the Top Gun Training facility). Also a few miles just east of town along The Loneliest Road was Sand Mountain Recreation Area.....a unique and desolate spot with land-piles of sand and hills to wander, roam around and explore upon.....similar to but not nearly as majestic as Great Sand Dunes National Park near Alamosa, Colorado.
