    Dove to Fallen Feathers

Young white-wing dove on ground in my garden 7-8-25, thought it was dead but picked up to keep my dogs from getting it and it's eye blinked! Blazing hot ..109 degrees, so took in to house, put in cage and misted to cool it down. Was unsure how to help further, but let dove rest in quiet area overnight. Next morning called Fallen Feathers.. told to bring bird. Drove over, volunteer said dove ok, just flight feathers not yet developed. Such gentle exam of this dove. SO GRATEFUL for these kind, caring people. While I have done fostering for dogs for 25 years, am very interested to volunteer for Fallen Feathers, have made a donation and more in the future. THANK YOU, Fallen Feathers volunteers. You are a blessing to AZ bird wildlife!

    Drop off area
    Priscila P.

I had to drop off a northern mockingbird fledging bird since around the area there were many cats and it couldn't fly. I honestly regret so much not educating myself before dropping it off at this "sanctuary" and taking it to a better sanctuary. Walking up to the drop off area my gut was telling me to not leave it there, the place looked very unorganized and not up to date, abandoned in a way. The fact that I can't receive updates on the bird I dropped off is so unsettling. I only had the bird for a few hours but within those hours I truly grew very fond of it. The birdie was so sweet loved to be on my hand was super curious of everything but I knew I couldn't keep it. My heart hurts every time I think about it , I also really hope they take good care of my birdie as well as all the other birds.

    Pigeon with Broken Wing

Found a pigeon in my parking lot with a broken wing. Called the Humane Society and they referred me to a wildlife rescue agency where I was able to get in contact with Fallen Feathers. I called, but nobody answered, so I just drove up there. It was a 30 min drive and I thought I was lost at first, since it's in a residential neighborhood. I rang the door bell and after a couple of mins of waiting, I just filled out the form and left the bird in a cage on the porch. Hope the bird makes it

    Baby quail

So, my kitty brought home a live quail, baby, and after research and talking with somebody who knew about fallen feathers, I decided to drive over there to drop it off. I didn't get to meet anybody except briefly when I was already heading to my car, But the vibe at the home which included all the many different bird sounds coming from it, and being greeted by pigeons at the front door, I knew it was going to be in good hands. The fellow I talk to that came out and confirmed, the baby was going to be in good hands and they would take good care of it. I'm very thankful they have the sanctuary That welcomes all types of birds. I will be donating again in the future to this foundation. I may even consider volunteering to help . Thank you guys again, and I appreciate all that you do!

When first picked up from the concrete.

Absolutely terrible. If you have a bird of prey in distress, take elsewhere. An owl was injured crashing into a plate glass window. Over the course of a few hours, the owl improved and aside from not standing, was much improved by the time was left at Fallen Feathers. For two days, despite their sites claiming "responds to messages within an hour" and multiple requests for an update, there was no word on the condition of the owl (despite the fact the "icon" indicated receipt of message). When they finally did respond, it was to inform the owl had died shortly after drop off (not sure that seems believable but nothing to do about it) and went on at length about owls not really mating for life-- which wasn't a question. Not kidding-- try Wild at Heart first, then anyone else before Fallen Feathers if a bird of prey. So disappointing.

Have taken several injured birds here over the years. They are life savers! I always like to see what birds they are caring for.

Kristie helped us get this under control, so we can now have an enjoyable walking experience with our dog. While we were working on this, Kristie also helped us with some basic command refinements with all 3 of our dogs. One of our dogs needed a little confidence boost, and she taught us how to work with him to strengthen this. Kristie is clear in her instructions to the humans and is patient with answering questions and modeling how to give commands and corrections. She built a positive relationship with our dogs and with us. We have enjoyed the experience and appreciate the changes in our dogs' behavior.

For dog sitting, in our home, we've used Michelle several times now and she is great. Our 3 dogs love her and she clearly loves them too. We have 2 Great Danes and Beagle/Boston Terrier mix who are getting up there in age. Our male Great Dane has a number of health issues and Michelle handles it all so well. There's a laundry list of medications for the dogs and she does a great job keeping up with it all. She doesn't mind when I'm that helicopter dog mom and I check too often on my sick boy. Regardless of his illness, Michelle sends many pictures and text updates on how things are going with all the dogs. As a very protective momma, I trust Michelle completely with my furbabies and home. We love having Michelle take care of our babies... so much so that when we were planning the August trip we just completed, she wasn't available on our original dates, so we moved our trip to make sure she was available. I appreciate the freedom Kristie and Michelle offer us to get away several times a year. I completely trust them. Give them a shot!

My sweet Bella was 14 years old when she unexpectedly passed away. It was on the weekend, I couldn't bring her into Grand Paws so I went to another clinic to put her to sleep. A couple weeks go by and I get a card from this office with a signature from EVERY OFFICE MEMBER saying how much they loved caring for Bella and how sorry they are for my loss. I didn't even tell the office about Bella's passing... I was so touched by this card. It's the small gestures like that, going above and beyond to make me feel seen that make the biggest difference. Cannot recommend this office enough!

While waiting, I personally heard the staff at the front desk mocking other pet owners who were calling in to get care for their pets. They acted completely irritated to be helping their own customers. My cat Gracie was seen that day for vomiting and an earache. On 8/3, Dr. Timiney left a voicemail stating Gracie's blood work showed an elevated Amylase level of 2,500 U/L (their normal high is 2,200) and crystals in her urine. In the voicemail, she explicitly stated that Gracie needed a specialized prescription therapeutic diet to address these issues. I spent two days calling back to get the food and prescriptions, but my calls were repeatedly ignored. On 8/4 at 10:00 AM, my husband and I went to the clinic in person desperately trying to buy the prescription food the vet recommended. A staff member named Taylor explicitly refused to give us the prescriptions, refused to sell us the food, and ordered us to leave the premises. She actively blocked a sick animal from receiving its medication. When we left, she sarcastically told us to "have a good day." After Grand Paws kicked us out, we started reading other people's online reviews of this clinic. Realizing through their past history that we were never going to get the help we desperately needed from them, we knew we had to get Gracie quickly to another qualified veterinarian. Hours later at 4:37 PM, Dr. Timiney left another voicemail admitting she knew we had been trying to call back and stating she heard Gracie was now declining and might need urgent x-rays. This proves the clinic knew my cat was getting worse, yet they chose to withhold her medicine and kick us out earlier that morning. We rushed Gracie to Bell Parkway Veterinary Hospital, where the amazing, professional staff immediately stabilized her with pain meds, anti-nausea meds, and her therapeutic food. Grand Paws practices patient abandonment and has zero empathy from the front desk down. Avoid them at all costs if you love your pets.
