One of the things I missed most about New York City when I was an undergrad at Cornell was the independent films. I mean, sure Cornell Cinema was awesome at bringing good films to campus, but none of them were movies that were out NOW. Then I found Fall Creek! Which was basically the answer to my prayers. Fall Creek is small and a bit out of the way for most people, but I feel like that only works in its favor. There is no glamour here, just the film (and knowing indie flicks, most of them probably wouldn't go with the concept of glamour anyway) and you in a chair that feels much older than you are. Fall Creek always brings an awesome selection of films to Ithaca, and I've run into a lot of my professors here, who, too, must miss the cultural fulfillment of more metropolitan areas. But the place makes you glad you're in Ithaca and not in a crowded city center - not only do you get to watch your indie movie in peace, you get room to think about it too. read more

One of two independent film houses in Ithaca. This one is farther away from downtown, more near the suburbs but is a very nice walk through the neighborhoods from downtown. When I went there with a friend, two friendly older gentlemen were running the establishment. This and Cinemapolis will be two of the places I will definitely miss of Ithaca when I move out. read more

Cinemapolis is a sister theater. Great movie theater that shows independent films. The concession stand features better food than the mainstream movie theaters. I like getting the popcorn with curry powder. read more
