This is a nice little open field park with a paved track roughly 1/4 long. People come here to…read morewalk/jog mostly but also to play with their dogs or have their kids kick a ball around the grass. There is a kids playground (geared for younger kids) and a batting cage. There isn't too much shade except for a few trees here and there. There's a nice breeze when you run since its on top of a hill. There are no water fountains so be sure to bring water. The park is dog friendly but they do not supply doggie bags for easy pet cleanup. The park is pretty clean and the times I've gone it hasn't been busy. The neighborhood is pretty safe. The park is located behind McAuliffe Elementary School and is accessible off of Rancho Del Oro. There is a small parking lot for maybe 6 cars or so but you could also park in the street. There are no bathrooms on site so be sure to use the potty before arriving.

Since we are already making the big commute every day, we usually put the bike rack on the car and bring our bikes (we also change it up and bring scooters or the hoverboard, sometimes we will look for a park that has tennis courts and bring the racquets or a basketball/football/soccer ball to get out of the house, so we are almost never at the same park twice in a row. In fact, we look for new parks that we have never been to before to get some new scenery in or just to check it out so we know which ones are good for certain activities and which ones we should probably avoid! This makes reviewing each of them on Yelp! an easily referenced tool when looking to head out with specific items. It's usually quiet when we head out to most parks, but the ones in Carlsbad and San Marcos/Vista tend to be much larger than what we can find in Fallbrook and Oceanside, so after school park trips are usually spent either close to school or completely out of the way (since we've got to make the long drive home anyway, might as well get a little energy run off before heading home for dinner and homework! This was a pleasant surprise, because I'd called it when we first came here and said that it was in a bad spot. However, I think I might have either been thinking of a different park altogether (it happens when the signs all look the same and the general layout is similar!) or they updated this very recently. I don't remember coming here at all until just recently. The blue painted benches are clean and always seem so much more comfortable than they appear to be, they're metal, but I think they coat them with something that makes them less prone to burn in the heat. Whatever it is, the benches are great if you're not engaged in playing (but seriously, at least watch your kiddos and don't stare at your phone the entire time, it's really a beautiful little space and the playground is even labeled (I'm not sure if this is a thing for every Oceanside park; but they do all seem to have the age theme down). Yes, there's dog walking here. That's usually a big "nope" for me on the Yelp!-o-meter. However, they've placed doggie bags in those upright containers that dispense from the bottom, so there's no excuse for mommas and poppas of my furry friends to neglect to pick up after their babies! That's likely strategic placement the planners had in mind when they started to develop this little spot into a park. I give them credit for the stars that this beautiful park merits. Just taking the one star back because there is dog walking, and I'm really wondering where the non-dog walking parks in Oceanside are, because I see them everywhere, and the bags get pulled out by kids and thrown everywhere while others don't seem to see them after their pup makes a poo, leaving future parkcomers to wait it out until it either rains or nature reclaims the mess for itself. I'm really digging this park though- doggies and all, so if it remains free from feces, I may have to come back and change my review sometime in the future. :)

The male owner lets the dog run all over the park, jump on tables, and rush the entrance anytime a new dog comes in especially smaller dogs. Whenever the dog starts acting aggressively, all he does is spray it with a water bottle. Today the dog went after my puppy, and instead of immediately controlling or removing his dog, he waited for me to grab my puppy first, casually walked over, and sprayed the dog with water. A few moments later, the dog tried going after my puppy again while my puppy was literally hiding underneath a table trying to get away. When I brought up the behavior, his response was basically that my puppy "needs to get used to it," that he's "training the dog not to act that way," and that it was "just dogs being dogs." But there's a difference between normal dog behavior and an owner failing to control an aggressive dog in a public dog park.

Libby Park is a small hidden gem tucked right in the middle of a residential neighborhood. From the…read moreoutside, it feels like a quiet, private little spot, but once you walk down the stairs, it really opens up. One of my favorite parts was the view of the lake. It's peaceful and makes for a really nice walk, especially with the trail that loops around it. The park itself is well laid out with a small soccer area, walking path, benches, picnic seating, and a playground, which makes it great for a casual outing with kids. That said, there are a couple things to keep in mind. You do have to walk down stairs to access the park, which might be tricky if you have a stroller (I didn't notice a ramp, but I could have missed it). Also, while there's plenty of street parking, there isn't a dedicated lot. The only downside for me was the amount of duck feces around the lake area, especially on or near some of the benches, which made it a little less enjoyable to sit and relax by the water. Overall, it's a nice little neighborhood park and a great spot if you're nearby and want to take the kids out for a quick stroll or playdate.

NOT WORTH IT FOR THE PRICE $$$ I tried Doggy Adventures for…read morethe first time through the Sniffspot app, excited to surprise my boyfriend with a magical couple hours, hiking trails, spending time in the stream, picking avocadoes, and drinking fresh squeezed lemonade (as advertised on Sniffspot app). Sniffspot laid out the charges for that as $156 to cover me and my boyfriend and our 3 dogs to include access to the stream, avocado picking & freshly squeezed lemonade. I texted the Doggy Adventures team months in advance to get more info while I was booking it, but didn't hear back until 1 day before our scheduled visit. Once they contacted me, they informed me the ONLY thing covered for the $156 paid, would be doing the basic trails on one side of their property (the trails are only on a small portion of the 35-acres). No stream. No avocadoes. No lemonade. That's $78/hour to hike what in my opinion, is a pretty basic dirt trail that I could do for free just down the road. Really the biggest allure was that it was only going to be us hiking the grounds, no other dogs or people, which for my reactive pup, was a PLUS. We could hear the stream, down the hill, but because I couldn't pay the additional $157, access was denied to us for that part of the experience. On a warm sunny day in the hills of Fallbrook, with 3 panting dogs, that was just torture. The whole thing seems pretty strange. Advertised as magical, only to be denied to the experience unless you pay another $157, which was NOT disclosed on their Sniffspot page, which also is not cool. Add insult to injury, their trails are crawling with California Burclover which releases burs that stuck to my terrier and shitzu's fur to the point that it was causing them distress/pain. It took us 4 hours just to remove them. It left our dogs eyes almost stitched shut from the burrs, in their ears, on their lips. It was horrible. I get that something like this is not directly the owner's fault, but the very LEAST they could've done was give us a warning, or put signs up or something, if they know people are bringing their dogs on to their trails. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, not worth the $$$, especially in this economy.

My dog likes to fetch and play friendly. He is not pestering other dogs constantly and if he was, as a pet owner, I would call him off. Unfortunately, some pet owners don't pay any attention or just don't care. Their dogs kept trying to hump my dog. He did his best to skirt away and make it very known he's not the one but they were relentless. It took all the fun out of playing at the dog park. We literally had to leave because the other pet owners wouldn't stop their dogs. It was ongoing for 10 -15 minutes. Come on pet owners pay attention. My other complaint is the middle field has not been well maintained so at this point it's mostly dirt. It's unfortunate but we will not be back.

Towards the back there is a sand volleyball pit (bring your own net) and a half soccer turf with goal. I like that there is only one way in & one way out because the littles like to try and escape towards the street sometimes. Downside: NO parking! I mean there's one or two spots and one handicapped spot. You'll have to park on the street or walk if there are more than a couple of people at the park. And no restrooms!
