We are leaving Natchez Trace Thousand Trails in Tennessee this morning and enjoyed our brief stay…read more Arriving at the park we did not know what to expect, having read some questionable reviews. The road to the park takes you through some of the Natchez Trace Parkway, absolutely stunning tree lined road with so much history. With knowledge of the low bridge near the park, we were prepared with the by pass route in advance. Once we arrived checkin was pretty straight forward, as we were driving through two different rangers approached us with great campsite choices, even volunteered to take us there in their vehicles. All 50 amp, some with sewer. We settled on one with partial lake view and 50 amp. Thank you to both rangers for being so helpful. The roads were a little interesting in spots but my husband had no problem maneuvering the MH towing our car through a couple of tight corners and few rough patches but all in all not bad. The road to the different sections are paved and in good shape. They do have some steep hills up and down, so be prepared if your rig is a little under powered. The grounds of the park are large, covering a number of acres in a park like setting. The sandy beach area had a few families enjoying the lake that opens up to a large open field. They offer kayak rentals through ranger station. Some of the parks cabins border the lake in this area and look inviting and tranquil. There is a little camp store that also serves as a restaurant as well. The different sections were mowed and tidy. The pool just opened up yesterday. The lodge in Phase II had a cute outdoor area with what appeared to have a wooden dance floor. There was a small library, pool tables, entertainment area inside. We would definitely revisit while traveling through in the future.

The tent campsites were very poorly maintained as were the facilities where the game room was…read more Missing tiles in the bathroom and lots of chipped paint. When we arrived at our campsite, there were empty beer cans in the fire pit and other trash strewn all over the place The pool and camp Store were wonderful.

We had originally planned to stay here two months ago but I didn't have dates and eventually forgot…read moreabout this gem. On our road trip from Fort Worth, we were researching available places in this area and Little Tracks came up as having one night open!!! We lucked out!! We stayed in Red Fish cabin for the night. Once you reserve and pay for your stay, the owners text you the appropriate information to get in! They're so hospitable. When we walked inside our cabin from our long day of driving, we were greeted with a cozy and clean place! There is a hot shower, shampoo/conditioner, beauty mirror, towel hooks, towels and linens. The kitchen is complete with dinnerware and cutlery, a blender, coffee machine and fridge in case you want to cook any meals. We also spotted a fire pit in the front for making s'mores! If the temps gets too cold or hot outside, there is an ac unit to make your sleep more comfortable. There is a tv mounted in case you have time for watching anything, we didn't though. The trees were gorgeous, showing off their fall colors, and it was so quiet despite being right off I-40! It felt like a night at Grandma's house, safe and snuggly. We recommend staying!

What a refreshing change from the big chain hotels that I usually stay at in my business travels…read more The cabin was very clean, comfortable, and accommodating. The owners were very pleasant, helpful, (booked with wrong date by accident), and friendly. While I was only there for one evening, I would love to come back for a longer non-business stay. Thanks for the hospitality!

It has 1,400+ acres, fishing, boating, a marina, 10 cabins, camping, a lodge, a restaurant, a swimming pool, a golf course, a three mile paved trail, three small swimming beaches, an aviary, a butterfly garden, and a visitors center and gift shop. The town surrounding this area was originally called Pickwick, after Dickens' The Pickwick Papers. This was the spot of a riverboat stop in the 1840s. The lake was named Pickwick Lake. During Roosevelt's New Deal, this was the site of a new dam, named Pickwick Dam. The 53 mile long dam was completed in 1938. In 1969, the city was purchased by the state of Tennessee to become a new state park. The state park opened in 1972. This whole area is gorgeous and has a lot of water recreation, so if you're a fisher or swimmer, this park is for you. There's not much in the way of untamed wilderness, but this park is absolutely chocked full of amenities that's sure to please every member of the family.

The trail hike, a family friendly, short and sweet, hike, with the lead of an incredible State Park Ranger. The park Ranger graciously led the way and read the story aloud. It was a family fun event. Afterwards, we were able to drive through the Christmas lights through the park. It reminded us as a similar show, from the Memphis Shelby Farms starry nights, so nice to have this here at the Pickwick State Park. Thank you so much for all who arranged these events, we enjoyed it very much!
