Was in West Seattle with a friend visiting the west Seattle farmer's market and finally tried Falafel Salam. This place has been in my list for awhile. Was definitely worth the wait. My friend and I both ordered The Hesitator Combo. For a first time visitor it was a great choice. You get: Falafel, chicken, shawarma, beef gyro, Arab salad, purple slaw, pickled veggies, organic hummus, dolma, tahini, fermented mango sauce, garlic aioli & homemade pita. The protein is so flavorful. Generous portion loved the Arab Salad, purple slaw and pickled vegetables adds brightness to the platter. Oh and did I mention their fluffy homemade pita unlike any other pita I have had. Great vehicle to soak up all the flavor from the meat. Excited to enjoy my leftovers!! Came here for a quick lunch and ordered the hesitator and got to try a little bit of everything. Unfortunately, I don't think anything stood out as particularly good or bad, with the exception of the dolma that I found to be particularly disappointing. The falafel was fine, maybe a bit dry, I didn't think the chicken shwarma or beef gyro were particularly flavorful. Tried Falafel Salam in West Seattle and overall it was a solid experience. I ordered the chicken shawarma pita and the chicken shawarma plate. The flavors were definitely there -- well-seasoned, good portions, and everything tasted fresh. The pita sandwich was the standout for me. The chicken was juicy and the toppings balanced really well inside the wrap. The plate was good too, but it didn't hit quite the same as the sandwich -- I think it could use a little more sauce or punch to take it to the next level. Very disappointed in their food. We ordered chicken swarma bowl, lamb gyro bowl and hummus. The lamb was like nothing I have ever seen before and tasted like cardboard. The chicken was overcooked and dry. Everything tasted like it was prepared in advance. The hummus was watery and the pita doughy and tasteless. To top it off, the food was over priced for what they delivered. We do not recommend this place. read more

Ehhh. The problem with this restaurant is that if this place existed in let's say, Dearborn, MI, it wouldn't compare. Not by a long shot. This restaurant serves what I would call "granola Mediterranean food," where the emphasis is on wholesome ingredients. When you walk in, you're greeted warmly, the to-go fridge is stocked with a variety of healthy Mediterranean bites like hummus and olives, and the menu is portion-size friendly. The menu includes single-serve sandwiches and combination platters. On my visit, my friend elected to get a salad and I ordered The Hesitator combination platter. It came with chicken shawarma, gyro meat, rice, hummus, house-made pita bread, stuffed grape leaf, and a few accoutrements. The shawarma was OK, and nothing I would write to Dearborn, MI, about, but the stuffed grape leaf and the spicy gyro meat were delicious.I would return for the gyro meat. I wasn't able to eat the meat at the restaurant, but I came home and re-heated it, only to slap it on a homemade egg McMuffin the next morning. This was a hit in our house, and I would love to be able to buy mass amounts of the gyro meat for this purpose only. Its spicy and its gamey, like lamb meat should be. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to come to West Seattle to eat here, but if you're craving Middle Eastern food in West Seattle and don't want to travel to the burbs or Midwest to satisfy it, then this could be just the place for you. read more

Falafel Salam serves the best falafel in Seattle. I've done take out from the West Seattle location a few times and have ordered food from the food truck. Each time, the falafel is served to perfection and the garlic aioli sauce served with it is amazing. I have mixed feelings about the hummus and baba ganoush. It's good, but it's not the best I've had in the area. The chicken is tasty as well as the fries. In the future, I'll skip the rice bowls. It's best to order the falafel salad or falafel separately with hummus and baba ganoush on the side. I wish Falafel Salam opened a location in Redmond. read more

I have now been to Falafel Salam a few times, tried a few things and they now earn a perfect rating. This place rocks! Friendly atmosphere, great falafel sandwich, (love the spicy purple slaw) and my wife loves the chicken schwarma rice bowl. My previous gripe with the hummus not being seasoned enough, I added a little salt, problem solved! FS is now one of my top lunch choices in West Seattle. We will see you soon! read more

I sometimes get the spicy house falafel on Tuesdays when the food truck is at Westlake center. The falafels are very good and the spicy sauce they put on it is very unique and delicious. And the falafels are 100% vegan! They also have a container of peppermint tea that is free for the taking while you wait in line for your food which is nice. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Two major turnoffs: the music was LOUD, and I mean so loud that the lady taking my order got it wrong, and it was a simple order. I didn't even want to eat in the place because the music was so loud. And the chicken shawarma just isn't good. The chicken was fatty, the "spicy" flavor is not spicy, the pita is too much bread, and the whole thing is just... squishy is the best word I can think of right now. I've had it twice, so it's not an issue of consistency. It was gross both times. But of course that's just my opinion. Also, my husband tried to ask one of the cooks a question & he was dismissive. However, the garlic fries are OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing. And I don't even like fries. They use this magical garlic sauce that makes my mouth very happy. I'll be back for fries. This is some of the best food I've ever had. I always get their Purple Falafel Sandwich and have them make it extra spicy. The pita is so pillowy, the falafel is crispy and full of flavor, and all of the slaws and sauces go together perfectly. The greek fries are incredible too.
