They have really gone down hill in the last few years. They cut the recess time for the children, and are far too focused on academics while ignoring actual development for young children. The current director has overreached far too much, and does not seem to understand how childcare actually works. My 4.5 year old son attends the school. The daily activities are meticulously designed to engage the kids and encourage learning. The staff is attentive to the progress of each kid. The teachers and director of the school are very courteous and open for discussion. The communication from the school is prompt. The diversity is celebrated in the school as they celebrate all the festivals. My kid loves his teachers and looks forward to go to school every morning. read more

This is a gem in Redmond. The director/staff are extremely professional. My 4 years old boy loves the school and the teachers. The teachers are amazing, they develop positive relationships with parents based on trust and open communication. They are all wonderful and legitimately love their job and their students. The curriculum is great, what makes my son academically and emotionally more than prepared for public school. Because of that and much more, that my 18 months daughter will start in September at FLS. read more

One of the best schools we have sent our preschooler to. Mrs. Sharma and Mrs. Terry were amazing and really caring. The schools has inculcated some great things into their curriculum including nature, value systems, out doors, books, math, singing and dancing etc. We could notice that the artworks my kid brought home were great and this wouldnt have been possible unless there were teachers giving individual attention. They also developed some fine qualities like caring, sharing and overall discipline which was evident at home. Overall a great place with equally good kids and parents. I should start by saying I have perfectionistic tendencies and a very hard time settling. When we moved from Seattle to Redmond, we toured most of the preschools in the area (at least those with decent ratings) and while some had more to offer than others, we struggled to find a place that provided a solid foundation in social emotional development, that also provided an academically rich environment and a nurturing culture. Study after study shows that social emotional development and EQ are some of the best predictors of life-long success, so it was critical to me that we find a school that embraced that philosophy as well. We found such a place in Faith. The teachers here have been warm, nurturing, caring, and passionate about their work. The school offers an excellent balance of curriculum focusing on social development, academics, and fun. While it is a religious affiliated school, they have managed to build this part in from a perspective of morals and virtues vs religious rhetoric, and I think everyone can get behind encouraging kids to be compassionate, friendly, and good self-regulators. And they do a great job of keeping parents informed about how things are going, which is very important to me. My son loves his teachers and the staff. He loves going to school. As a parent, the peace of mind that comes with that is immeasurable. I am so grateful that we found this school. I would encourage anyone looking for a great preschool to come take a tour. Ask questions, see the classrooms, and learn about what the school has to offer. Faith Lutheran School truly is a gem. read more

I've had the pleasure of working with Faith with their preschool and elementary program for 14 years, ever since my youngest son attended there. Two of my grandchildren and a nephew have also attended. Teachers and staff are friendly and well-educated, it's a very well rounded program for every age group I've been involved in. Faith Lutheran is a hidden gem on the eastside. When we began a preschool search for our daughter we were delighted to find a drop-off program for two year-olds in our neighborhood. The toddler teachers were a perfect match for our daughter and we couldn't have asked for a better first year of school for our family. She has continued to grow and thrive in her second year and we are so grateful to all of the staff for their continued care, sensitivity to our needs, and the warm welcome we have received into this wonderful community they have built. read more

Faith Lutheran School has been an incredible experience for my 2-year-old daughter. I can tell that her teachers and the entire school staff care deeply about all aspects of her development (physical, spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, etc.), and they meet each child where they are at. I've been especially impressed with how the curriculum is tailored to the interests of the kids, rather than being set in stone by the teachers. For example, the kids were comparing how tall they were compared to each other, so the teachers arranged an entire unit about different types of measurement. My daughter says "thank you" and "excuse me" without being prompted, which speaks to the empathy she has learned in the classroom and the Christian values that the school promotes (in an age-appropriate way, and without being preachy). The staff provides excellent communication and support to parents, and the program quality is exceptional, especially for the price of tuition. read more

Our experience in the FLS Preschool was horrible. The Director overreaches her title by acting as a childhood development specialist, far exceeding her expertise. Class descriptions can change midyear, and she can choose at whim to do daily "assessments" on any child she sees fit. We were told our child was developmentally behind, potentially disabled, and that he should be put back in the class with younger children or given a 1:1 aide. We took the paperwork to our pediatrician/childhood development specialist, both Dr's encouraged us to pull our son from the school. The Director was unprofessional, inappropriate and inaccurate. Other parents experienced similar "assessments" from this Director as well. She stresses communication is key but does not honor it. Neither does the school board, who denied our request to meet with them. I encourage anyone considering this school to drop by at odd hours to observe what is going on. Ask about the teachers and how long they have been at the school. Ask about what children do in each class. Our child spent 4 months in the TODDS class and never came home with artwork/schoolwork. Now in a new school, he happily participates in arts/crafts, loves coloring/tracing, cleans up well but is still working on circle time, and happily plays with all the children without incident or concern. If your preschooler is the model student, always compliant, and never tantrums or resists, then the FLS may be the school for you. If your preschooler is "average" like mine, move on and find another program. read more

barbara the principal promised me a new school and they still have these old portables not real classrooms. really she showed us parents drawings of a new school that would supposedly be built and promised us if we signed up our children this would all happen. none of it was true. If you like old moldy smell portables then this school is for you! read more
