The amount of love that is poured into the students on a daily basis by the teachers and administrators is amazing. Anytime I interact with any of the students, I am amazed at the level of maturity and intellect displayed. Students pray for each other and lift each other up. Ms. Jennifer and Ms. Meghan are awesome -- knowledgeable, fun, and very kind. They really care about the kids and have just the right balance of structure and flexibility. The kids learn a lot too. They did a whole unit on fire safety, where they learned songs to help them remember how to keep safe and they got to meet firefighters and climb on the firetruck. They do many lovely art projects as well and each day they are learning numbers and letters. The facility is great -- with different themed play areas that change every month or two, an outdoor playground and a big gym with tricycles for rainy days. Can't say enough good things about this preschool! (FYI, the preschool closed during the pandemic then reopened in 2023)

Normally it's not "now it's reading time" but rather reading letters, sounds, numbers just become part of the day. - each student assigned "jobs" - line leader, feeding the fish, selecting the books. Kids get a job every day. - manners!!! Love that my child is expected to look people in the eye and say please and thank you, to have nice manners while eating, etc. - large facility gives kids elbow room. This may not seem like a big deal, but seriously, it is. - Christ and Bible based. Kids learn the biblical stories, learn to ask questions, etc.

My Kindergartener comments out-of-blue several times a week that he loves his school and said this…read moremorning he wishes he could rate it, so here we are :) I'm extremely happy with the school: It seems all the lower school specialists manage to work physical activity into their lessons, children are treated with respect and have SEL built into daily activities. The teachers and staff are highly conscientious, constantly revising their curriculum and methods based on outcomes, the latest in educational research, and community feedback. Just driving onto campus each morning feels good, because everything is done so well. The active and supportive parent community is wonderful. Lots of helpful parent Ed talks and resources (and plenty of nerdy, type A parents as you might imagine, that tend to knock whatever task they've volunteered for out of the park). Of course, each year is going to be different depending on the mix of parents, students, and faculty but the institutional structure of constant improvement and community involvement is one of the best I've seen. I also really appreciate the fact that my son is now middle-of-the-pack in terms of intellect and assertiveness, finding friends with similar interests and abilities. And I've been able to relax around the other parents who share similar experiences of parenting exceptional kids. Hope this is helpful; I know picking a school is a big decision and the cost is significant. All I can say it that we really love Open Window.

The school upholds traditional values centered on family, faith, and love of country, and instills in students a deep sense of respect and responsibility. In all these years, we've never seen a single bullying incident. The teachers are incredible, the families are strong, and the sense of community is unmatched. My wife and I both went to private catholic schools from Kindergarten through college so we had an…read moreidea of what to expect, but Sacred Heart has blown us away. We have a beautiful house on the border of Issaquah, Newcastle and Renton that use to be zoned the Issaquah School District (where my 2 older children attended, but sadly being on the border line and new construction got us bumped into the Renton school district. We gave the Renton school district K through 2nd to get things right, but it was terrible so we finally faced a decision - move to a better school district or find a better private school. Since we loved our home and neighbors so much, we decided to send our son to Sacred Heart where we were already attending mass as practicing Roman Catholics. From the open house, to "the interview" visit and through my son's first year at Sacred Heart - everything has exceeded our expectations beyond our wildest dreams. The staff is well paid and it shows because they are eager and willing to get a lot accomplished yet make your child feel loved and excited about school. Our son loves going so much that we seriously considered using it as leverage against him when he goes astray because he never wants to miss a day. Despite being in an extremely wealthy 1% part of town, the families have been warm and inviting without any of the snobbery you might expect from 99% of the people we have met. The entire staff - especially the principal - are so engaged that they even take turns helping to open doors for parents at drop off circle in the morning! Show me any public school that does that! Our son loves it and we love being a part of the Sacred Heart family. While it is expensive with 3 years of price increases coming, we do feel it is worth it for what you get. It's also a lot cheaper than moving / re-financing, so if you want a wholesome catholic education that feels like a top notch private school then this is it! Oh and in 6 months my son in 3rd grade has picked up Spanish, typing (on a dedicated Surface Pro!) and sign language! What's more, the day is packed with activity so he never gets bored, but the 3 recesses also means he doesn't feel the pressure that you'd find in a typical Montessori school. Oh, and the lunches are fantastic - unlike the toxic waste they serve in public schools so that was a big plus too. Lastly, I have to point out that prayer and faith are a big part of the program which has been a great relief to us. In these days of political correctness gone wild, it's great to see God and Jesus getting the place they deserve in the curriculum as well as opening and closing day prayers! I can't say enough good things about SHS!
