I don't know how to explain, I know that's how one does it normally at a spa, but in a place this small, it gave me a vibe of 1) these ppl really did not want to be work there, and 2) there wasn't a lot for them to say about working there. Hidden gem in Midtown if you're needing a quick, affordable massage!…read more While visiting NYC with friends, we spontaneously decided to treat our sore feet to a foot massage after a full day of sightseeing and walking around the city. Our friend called Spa45 on a whim around 4:00 PM on a weekday, and they were able to accommodate our group of four on short notice! We each opted for the 30-minute foot massage ($30). The therapist provided just the right amount of pressure throughout the session and it was just what we needed to unwind and reset after a long day. The spa has multiple rooms with maybe 4-6 padded sofa-chairs per room so they can accommodate many clients at once. Even better- the spa was located less than a block from our hotel, making it super convenient in case we wanted to book one more massage before we leave...

Came here with a gifted Groupon coupon. When I first arrived you are greeted with a steep stairway…read more Once you overcome the stairs you will see a door to your left that will let you know you have made it. Once I made it in, the ladies were busy folding but one came over to assist me with checking in. They started first with putting hand sanitizer on my hands and then take my temperature. Then they were trying to figure out the Groupon situation. After trying to scan and then trying to type in the number they just wrote it down and told me to mark as redeem. Alright now over that obstacle I was shown where my room was. First impression I have never been to a spa that the walls didn't meet the ceiling so you can hear everything from every direction. The beds were not very comfortable to lay on and didn't have the warming blankets to help with folks like me that stay cold. Now on to the massage. Well it all started pretty good but started going down him very quick. I asked for another blanket due to being cold and they placed a few towels on my to help. Then when I am trying to relax there is an two employees having conversation pretty loudly in the other room area, the music then shuts off so it appears even louder, and then with my towel basically rolled off exposing my side and part of my butt the lady opens the door and leaves it open while she walks out the room. I am not a huge modest person but hey now there's people walking around and I don't need anyone getting ideas. So after that I really couldn't relax because not only did it happen that once but it happened again. I asked her to please stop leaving with my towel exposing me. She just giggled. (Facepalm) Once the session was over they were then wanting to talk and asked me what their tip was going to be. From my understanding I thought it was up to the customer to decide that.....and then stated normally at least $10 or more is good. I was shocked that I was getting told what someones tip is going to be. Maybe I need a reality check but what if I thought you did a horrible job...then what happens? She told me they prefer cash tip because a card tip they will have to charge me another $1 for the card fee. All in all I will not go back to this place on my own accord. I have been to so many decent massages places that even with the Groupon I would t go back.

She called and booked the appointment back-to-back for August 26. First time coming here & didn't know what to expect as I don't get massage often (had it twice before; one was painful/bad + one was okay just felt like very light rubbing). -Wednesday, August 26- 3:30PM Body Massage (One 60-Minute Couples Full-Body Massage with Hot Stone and Aromatherapy Massage for Two $135) 4:30PM Body Scrub (2 orders of One 60-Minute Body Scrub with Soften Skin by Device Pre-Scrubbing and Sugar or Sea Salt Scrubbing $138) 5:30PM Complimentary Facial- owner gave to us (cleanse & face mask & toner) It looks shady from the outside; small massage parlor (not fancy as in upscale place with separate areas: lobby, changing area, etc). Owner greeted us warmly & lead us to our room. I used the restroom first (we had lunch right before coming here & I didn't want to hold it for 2hrs after drinking lots of water during lunch) & then my cousin went to the restroom, so I was the first in the room to change. The room was to the right of the front door (very close as in a few feet infront) had 2 beds. Dim lighting to set the mood. Clothes hooks infront of the bed on wall for our purses & clothing (is a narrow space between that wall to the massage bed because ladies stand in that area; TIP: Don't bring so much personal belongings or baggy items). We stripped naked & lay on the bed with a thin sheet covering us. Our face in the head opening area of the table looking down to the floor. We had selected the aromatherapy essential oils for our massage during check in (the ladies placed it under the table infront of our face so we could breathe it in). The massage was lovely; we enjoyed it very much. The ladies (owner + staff) was very friendly, polite, & courteous about touching/massaging & our body placement. They would cover one part as they work other parts &asked us about the pressure to make sure we were okay. There were 2 times where we heard outside the room, that a man had entered to inquire about massage. He sounded so close (the door was close to our room) to us that we were worried. The ladies made sure to cover us while the owner went out to speak to him; saying they were unavailable for the next 2hrs & to come back later or schedule for another day. This happened twice & we felt as if the man was in the room with us (I peeked & our room door was closed) & we were covered, but still felt too close for comfort. Body scrub was next; they lubed us up with the scrub mixture all over (felt like another massage). I was the first one done; so I had a thin sheet wrapped around me as I walked to the bathroom (they gave me shower slippers) to shower off the scrub mixture. The small shower is on the right side of the toilet with the washer/dryer next to the sink all in the same bathroom. Complimentary bath gel soap, shampoo, conditioner, facial wash & towels provided. When I returned to the room (so my cousin can shower next), I was told that the owner will gift us a complimentary facial since she liked us so much. We had chatted her up during check in & the service (she found out we were Taiwanese Americans); when I said we, I meant my cousin. My cousin is naturally charming that all loves her; plus she speaks Chinese fluently (better than me) so that comforted the owner who is Taiwanese. Overall, we enjoyed our experience & would come back. They worked out the knots in the back & are very professional. No funny business =P. We chatted occasionally with the ladies & with each other, but mostly just relax in silence to enjoy the experience. We both fell asleep during some parts of the massage/scrub massage-- that was how relaxed we were. -Friday, September 18- 6PM-7PM 1hr Body Massage My cousin & I decided to make this a monthly thing (or whenever we can meet up to enjoy) for a girl's spa day. We paid regular price to support business (they weren't doing so well during covid) $70 body massage per person. Afterward, we noticed a new deal... the owner had posted a sign for a new special deal- 90minutes massage for $70 which we'll try next time. She knocked off $5 for us both since we now become a loyal *returning* customer. We came fully ready to pay full price to help support her business & not expecting anything extra so it was a nice surprise of the $5discount. We have yet to make our October body massage appointment (due to me being in the Brooklyn ZipCode LockDown & being extra careful 10/7 to now & my cousin is a teacher waiting on her schedule conflicts to clear up). We will most likely make an appointment next week or just wait until November (and skipping October completely). TIP: Don't eat right before service; we both felt gassy when they massage abdomen area & nose was stuffed up after breathing in oil while sleeping- wait abit Our second experience was better- no gas or stuffy nose.

My friend and I decided to get a massage last Saturday evening b/c we didn't feel like going out to the bars and were in the area. The sitting area and massage rooms were everything you'd expect of a no frill massage joint. One weird thing, and I now know why they make you do this, is you have to pay for your massage AND tip before the start of your massage. What? Yep. And that's b/c you're about to have the worst experience of your massage life. I entered the room about 9:05PM, stripped down and laid on the table waiting for my lady. She came in a few minutes later. She never once removed my towel to massage my skin. Didn't use oils or lotions and didn't use a hot towel. How do I know they even offer this, well my friend that was next door received all of the above. I felt like my lady was just poking me here and there with her fingers and karate chopping my back. There was absolutely no technique used. After a short period, she said, "Ok, finished." Thoroughly confused, I looked at my phone and it had been 20 minutes. I paid for 30. The lady came back in my room and offered me water. I asked why my massage was 10 minutes short. She said, "No, you're wrong it was 30 min." I get dressed and go back into the lobby and sit and wait for my friend. It took me a while to get dressed as it's winter and I had layers and boots. I sat down on the sofa at 9:29PM. So I decided to complain to the manager. I had my credit card receipt saying I payed exactly at 9PM. My friend paid after. I didn't even go into the room until 5 after, then I had to undress and wait for the lady to come in. If we're being honest here, she probably started around 9:10PM and ended at 9:25PM and that's being generous. The woman at the front desk said I would have to ask the woman that was working on my friend. So I waited another 10 minutes for her to be done (watched as a hot towel entered the room). The woman that was working on my friend just smiled and said the girl was new and that she wanted to go home, that's why my massage was short. I said that it wasn't really an excuse, it's a 24 hour massage place and if they couldn't have accommodated two people then they shouldn't have taken our money. She just smiled again and said, she was sorry but the girl was new and was tired. Can't make this up people. In the end, the new-tired-girl-that-wanted-to-go-home-that-lacked-any-sort-of-massage-skill-ended up giving me back my tip. Biggest waste of money ever. Go elsewhere. My friend mentioned her massage was filled with hard pressure, oils, lotions and warm towels. I got none of that.

BEWARE - If you're looking for a luxurious massage spot with a spa-Iike look and feel, and top of the line customer service, don't waste your time coming here. This place is a no frills establishment. Having said that, this place definitely meets your massage and well-being needs, and their pricing is more than reasonable. You will definitely not find a place in East Midtown that will charge you a 60-minute massage for $55! Be aware though that all their price points are based on CASH payments only. Expect to pay a slight premium if you're using a credit card as your form of tender. The massage therapists are excellent. Worth every penny. They perform thorough work and use their hands and elbows to do more deeper tissue massages. Don't get scared if they climb on top of your massage bed! Massage rooms look a bit dingy, but again, if look and feel doesn't bother you, then you'll be fine coming here. Rooms are always clean. A couple of things to note - the place does lack customer service. Because the majority of the staff is of Chinese descent, I think the language barrier plays into their low quality customer service. Keep it strictly transactional. Their scheduling is very flexible though. Same day appointments are almost always possible. Also, I would recommend engaging in simple conversation with your massage therapist. They are willing to help, but would advise sticking to very simple language or point to the area of your body where you would like them to focus their attention on. I've been coming here for about 5 years now and up until now, I have been very satisfied every time. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get a very good massage for an extremely good price.

I rang the bell and Cindi opened the door she seemed very nice And the place seemed pretty decent. No frills, but exactly what I needed. At least, what I thought I needed. I had to use the restroom so I placed my bag roller bag and my coat in the small area with curtains that Cindi space showed me was mine. I went to the restroom and went into the room to get changed. I asked Cindi if she could unzip the back of my blouse because it was hard for me to unzip and I realized right away that Cindi did not understand English. Not my first time at a rodeo like this and that was totally fine with me. it took me about 6 to 7 minutes to get unchanged. I had boots with long laces and socks and pants and my top and the very long hair and jewelry so I wanted to make sure that you know I took everything off so that my massage would be pleasurable. Cindi came in and began... She got on the table right away which I was really excited about and made me look forward to what it seemed to be was going to be a really good massage. About five minutes in Cindi needed to answer the door so she got off the table and went out to see to the next customer. I completely understand this as I've been to massage therapist offices like this before, so it wasn't an issue for me. As Cindi was coming back, I needed to check my blood sugar because it seems like it was going low and I didn't wanna have any issues during the massage so Cindi had walked in and I asked her to wait a second so that I could just grab a little snack I was still on the table. I just kinda moved over grabbed a little something from my bag, put it in my mouth and then lay back on the table that took me about maybe a minute I laid back down and Cindi got to work the thing about working with a therapist that doesn't speak English, particularly Cindi, is when she robbed me too hard and it was painful. She did not understand me saying that it was too hard. I probably expressed that she was too hard about 10 times and she didn't really understand until I wanna say maybe about the 12th time. that was frustrating to say the least. once she understood, she did lighten up, which I was appreciative of, but struggling to be clear with my massage. Therapist takes me out of enjoying my massage for sure at the beginning before she began. I let her know that I didn't like it too hard and that I wanted an hour massage. About 40-ish minutes in Cindi told me that my massage was over. Initially, I thought she was just telling me to turn around but nope the massage was over when I looked at my clock. It had said 7:40 PM. I was a bit confused and called her back in even though she didn't really understand English I began to question what was going on since it was only 7:40 PM. We were not understanding each other and then she brought out her phone to translate what she was saying. What she translated was that we start your hour from the moment you step in the door. I'm sorry what? From the moment I stepped in the door? That's insane! I had to go to the restroom. I had to change my clothes, she had a customer to deal with. I needed to take a moment to eat something to bring my blood sugar up. None of that should've been counted and this massage that was 40 minutes, maybe 45 should not count as one hour. This is frustrating and disappointing and honestly not what I was looking for. I tried to explain that even though she didn't speak English and she wound up bringing in someone else that didn't speak English. They seemed nice, but honestly, I was not happy about the situation, even though I continued to be kind and forthright with how I was feeling. The other woman said "OK 10 minutes 10 minutes more no problem 10 minutes more"but honestly I wasn't happy with that. They worked on me for about a minute maybe two minutes but I couldn't relax and 10 minutes more didn't seem like enough so I stopped the massage and I told him that I didn't feel comfortable anymore. They said OK even though they kept speaking in their language to each other. I decided to get dressed and pay them $10 extra. I expressed my disappointment in a kind and respectful manner and they charged me for a 45 minute massage which was $50. I wound up giving them $60. I wouldn't recommend this place because of the language barrier and because honestly them charging me from the moment I walked into the place seems very dishonest. I paid $60 because I wanted to do things right and I always like to leave things better. The other lady tried to give me a bottle of water, but I didn't want a bottle of water so I didn't take it.
