This place is an absolute joke. Management is an absolute joke. The only bright spot of this…read morelocation is the maintenance guy, Mike. Whether it's the parking lot constantly being filled with garbage, doors being broken all the time, the manager, Jenna being a cold hearted, careless human being that everyone who lives there hates. When we first moved in, it was a desired place to live, we got the last apartment. Now, since she started running the site, the place is half empty, is trashy looking, and overall managed poorly. On another note, they promise a GYM with this place. HA! It is an elliptical and a stationary bike so don't allow that to build value for you. The storage unit is another thing they build value in. Well guess what, on our floor alone all of them have been broken into TWICE! Yet they do nothing further to protect your possessions. Also, the new dishwasher they provide doesn't even wash your dishes. Don't let the photos of the apartments mislead you either, they are a dump. They charge you premium pricing for a crummy place. And don't bother trying to reason with or tell management about your problems, because they will tell you about policy until they are blue in the face, instead of providing actual customer service. Hopefully this helps steer people away. I'm sure I left some things out, as there is a laundry list of things I'm unhappy about with this place. Steer clear of it, you can find much better.

First off, I admit I am a disgruntled former tenant. Take that into consideration, however, I feel…read moreit is necessary to warn others of my experience. One fact that cannot be disputed is that this property is managed by AIY Properties and this is the link to their profile from the Better Business Bureau ( http://www.bbb.org/cleveland/Business-Reviews/property-management/aiy-properties-llc-in-lakewood-oh-16004046/). The BBB gives them a rating of "F" which is their lowest rating possible so there is something to the fact that this place is extremely mismanaged! Just recently moved out after living here three years. I was extremely dissatisfied with this property and am taking the time to warn others to look elsewhere. The problems I had with this property never ended. The only thing that kept me at the property for so long was the convenient location to my job. Be prepared for extremely high electric bills. It is amazing how much money I wasted on electric bills in this unit. Even went to the extreme of shutting off the power at the breaker box to prevent wasted electricity. The average electric bill was over $100 per month. Also, just wait until you get your first water bill. The charges kept piling up. The neighbors in this building are extremely shady. Several times the police had to visit some of my neighbors. They also constantly leave bagged trash in the hallways. Because the hallways are open air, animals could regularly get into the trash that is left out overnight. The management and maintenance at this property is invisible. The grounds are not maintained well. There is a small lake at the front of the property filled with trash. Responses to maintenance requests regularly went ignored. The final surprise from this place were the move out charges. $30 to clean a microwave, $60 to clean a refrigerator, and $400 to replace the carpet. Again, lived there for three years and there was nothing more than regular wear and tear. When I called to dispute the charges the person I spoke to from the corporate office said "they would gladly sue me in civil court to collect the charges they assessed." She even went as far to say that there were cigarette burns everywhere and I am a non-smoker. Bottom line, save your money. This place is a money pit. The high rents do not reflect the level of service you are going to receive or the luxury living they proclaim to offer.

I lived at the Colony for a little over a year prior to relocating to Celebration Florida. Having…read morelived in NE Ohio all of my life, I was surprised to find this hidden gem in the eclectic and wonderful Highland Square neighborhood of Akron. I feel in love with the charm of this complex immediately and my love for it only grew as I lived the good life. The apartments at one time were the housing for Akron's elite. Now, they have a charm that is quite extraordinary. The Colony is ran by the onsite manager Jeff, who I always found to be professional, friendly and courteous. He was always available via a cell phone call or text and always responded promptly. The whole experience was delightful. I wish I could experience such a place here in Celebration. Florida is great, we have the great weather, but Akron has my heart because Akron has my home: The Colony Apartments. Keep up the great work Jeff & Pete! You guys are phenomenal. I look forward to the day I return home to my beloved Colony apartment.

I was lured in by the cool, vintage look. The happiness died a month later. :/…read more I've had plumbing problems since Day 1 which have never been fixed. The property manager guy is nice, though. Tile floor is coming up, tile walls need re-grouted desperately. The windows on this place are nearly falling out --you MUST put plastic up in the winter. The place was built in the 1950s and I swear hasn't been updated since. The ceilings are cracked in nearly every room, and I hear scratching in the walls (squirrels??). There's no fan in the bathrooms, so everything is dank and moldy. This place is FALLING APART, but the big real estate owner guy will probably let it crumble around us before he fixes anything. Sad, really... this could be a nice place to live. The rent is outrageous for a place in such poor condition, though the apartments ARE really big, and you have massive amounts of storage. Also, you can hear the neighbors who are above or below you (depending on your floor) through the vents. In my case, that meant I got awoken to neighbors have sex in the middle of the night ALL THE TIME. :P It's really noisy with cops, fire engines, etc all the time, but Highland Square is a neat neighborhood to live in. Parking is never a problem, though you must keep your doors locked at all times.
